The program "Abnormal Summit" introduced new participants from Nepal, Australia and Russia. paper heart

Recently, Hallyu is not only kpop, dramas, movies, but also variety shows, a huge part of the entertainment industry. What kind of shows you will not find! And the idols will be “married”, and the old people will be sent on a trip, or they will all be settled in one house and see what happens - in general, the choice is huge.

I have long been tormented by the idea that it is time to talk about entertainment programs. Until recently, this idea gnawed at my brain, but I didn’t know which show to start with and what to talk about. And so, a miracle happened - I found an amazing show, which I am ready to talk about on every corner and encourage everyone to watch it.

Ladies and Gentlemen - “Abnormal Summit”! (Abnormal Summit/Non-Summit)

What is the point

Three hosts and 12 foreigners discuss the pressing issues that concern the guest. The agenda may be different, but equally important: whether it is worth living together before marriage, whether to lend money to friends, when to start sexual and sexual education of a child, how to deal with youth unemployment, and much more.

In addition to the actual discussion of the topic of the day, there is a “World Clash of Cultures” segment, in which participants tell “how are we…”, for example, they celebrate Christmas, enter universities, treat elders, hold corporate parties, and so on.

The most important thing is that the whole discussion is very noisy and fun, the participants do not stop talking for a minute, and if you want to put in your five cents, you will have to try. There is a real battle of opinions, which is a real pleasure to watch.

Members

In addition to the three hosts (Koreans) and an invited guest, 12 (at the moment) foreigners, representatives of countries from all over the world, participate in the show.

Belgium (Julian), Italy (Alberto), France (Robin), Germany (Daniel), Ghana (Sam), Nepal (Suzhang), Japan (Takuya), China (Yuan), Canada (Guillaume), USA (Tyler), Australia (Blair) and, where without us, Russia (Ilya).

The age of the participants is from 20 to 30+, which gives us, on the one hand, an additional difference in views, and on the other hand, they are all young and active and similar to us: they study and work, and of course, they also love Korea.

Each participant has his own personality. For example, Tyler is a walking encyclopedia (if Tyler doesn’t know something, then it doesn’t exist), his abstruse speech is hard to understand even for Koreans. The bird-talker Jullian, whose stream of consciousness is hard to stop even by the presenters. A patriot to the core, Yuan, who is sooo hard to admit that China is not always ahead of the rest. Now a happy family man, and in the past he is still a heartthrob - a hot Italian Alberto. Milaha Takuya, like a true Japanese, endows everyone with his beautiful smile, but you will never know that mentally he has already sent all the yakuza of the country after you. Enes (unfortunately no longer involved) has a suitable Turkish proverb for every (!) life occasion.

All of them perfectly complement each other, creating the feeling that you are watching the gatherings of friends. Which, in general, is not far from the truth, since the guys communicate outside of the set.

Why watch

It is not often that you see a show on Korean television where the participants are 1) foreigners, 2) openly discussing the acute and pressing problems of Korean society in particular and global trends in general.

I've already said this, but it's worth saying again that all these discussions are wildly funny and funny, because the guys are so different and stubborn. The most delicious begins when they try to prove to each other what each country is better than the other (a sore point that worries every man - whose beer is better).

Despite all the seeming frivolity of the discussion, this is an opportunity to learn a little more about the culture of each country. Tell me how many of you will watch a documentary about life, for example, in Turkey, Belgium, Ghana. I think few. Thanks to the "Abnormal Summit" you can significantly expand your knowledge.

Naturally, the discussion is not only smart and funny, but also handsome guys - this is an additional plus of the show.

And finally, for all its merits, until recently, the show had one significant drawback - it lacked the opinion and the representative of Russia. But, thank the entertainment gods, we finally have our own representative - Ilya (here is his blog, with interesting notes about Korea). Let's wish him luck and be glad that we now have the opportunity to speak out and dispel a couple of myths about Russia.

I hope that now you no longer have questions “what should I watch today”, and soon you will become a fan of “Abnormal Summit”, this informative, funny and necessary show.

Also known as "abnormal summit". The show is very funny and interesting, but almost completely unknown in Russia and the countries of the former CIS.

The first episode was back in 2014 on JTBC and the show is still very popular in Korea and some other countries.

Show motto: "Korean culture through the eyes of a foreigner"

The essence of the show is that guys who live in South Korea get together and discuss world news, Korean culture, food and talk about their countries.

Everyone speaks Korean and the show is hosted by several famous Korean hosts.

I don't know if this will be interesting to anyone, but in the picture above, on the left-top, there is a rather famous guy, Guillaume Patry, and he is known even to some Russians.

The fact is that this is a professional player from Canada under the nickname Grrrr, who at one time conquered Korea with his level of play.

This show made people like Alberto Mondi (left-bottom in the photo) very famous in Korea, many who were in this show then became very popular stars in Korea and not only, the show had very high ratings and was a launching pad for a media career for many people.

The show already has as many as 160 episodes, each of which lasts 75-85 minutes.

For Russians, there is an opportunity to watch all this on VK (illegal, but it seems they haven’t covered it yet), there are many episodes with Russian subtitles posted there.

Just type in Vkontakte in the search there: "Non-Summit" and finds about 200 videos about a year ago.

Probably over time, videos from there will be cut out, but for now they are there. There is actually a serious problem in terms of where to find and how to watch the abnormal summit show, it is broadcast only in Korea and by a large company, all rights reserved. Although you can also search for it on some torrents, there are Russian subtitles somewhere.

Russia was represented at the show by Ilya Belyakov ( Ilya Belyakov- there is not even a Russian page in the wiki), a teacher from Vladivostok. In general, he was quite popular and many were upset when he was removed, however, the show has a constant rotation of guests, often new ones are invited.

All the guys on the show speak excellent Korean, I thought I couldn’t find the official video for you, but I found the official YouTube channel of JTBC Entertainment and I can safely refer, for example, to this video where a guest from Ukraine communicates with a guest from Poland. See from the 1st minute. A vivid example of how you can learn other people's cultures.

The guys are dressed and look a little... Well, you get the idea. But you need to understand that this is a format and that these are Korean requirements for metrosexuality, the requirements of the audience in the first place. As soon as they start talking with a Pole there, it is immediately clear that these are normal boys.

Here's another, a German tells a joke to a Russian, but no one gets into German humor.

I translate:
Make the Russian laugh! (There was trolling that Russians don't smile) I'll try. Come on, come on. He wins everyone in terms of self-confidence.
An American, a German and a Russian were arguing over who was the coolest in space exploration.
The American said that they were the first on the moon, so they are cooler.
The Russian said they were the first to build the ISS.
The German said, and we will be the first to reach the sun!
The Russian asked, how do you plan to reach the sun if it melts you?
The German said: and we will fly at night!

All right, end of joke. An example of German humor.

In general, the whole episode they are trying to make Ilya laugh and make him smile. Funny.

That is, the show makes fun of national stereotypes, explores and studies different cults, in short, the show is excellent, I don’t even know American ones, the format is unique.

The show does a great job of enhancing the image of Korea as a developed modern country that welcomes all foreigners, but watch who they call first.

One person from almost every European country, American, Canadian, etc. That is, regular guests and the most interesting for the audience are those who come from developed countries. Although there was a guest from China (a regular one, since the show is popular in China).

It's nice to watch this, as even acute political issues are discussed there, but all this is done very cheerfully and not viciously, it turns out interesting.

Although, of course, there is no such dirt in politics as in Russia, Ukraine or the USA.

The show bridges cultures while being in Korean, promoting Korea first.

Sometimes it's funny to listen to Korean in the sense that you find out that Koreans haven't invented their own word for example "relax" and they say relax in stupid English, and there are a lot of such words in Korean.

I made fun of them so much when I discovered that Korean does not have any banal words of its own, and they use English (Konglish). Although, in fairness, it is worth saying that if an American listens to the speech of a Russian, then he will generally understand 30 percent, no less, since there are even more borrowed words in the Russian language.

This video: the difference between the east and west coasts of the US in terms of English.

In a word, the show is interesting, it will be difficult to find and you may not appreciate it, but if you are learning Korean, for example, I think this is just what you need to watch.

JTBC transmission "Abnormal Summit" introduced the new members that many viewers were waiting for. The boys from Russia, Australia and Nepal showed good Korean language skills, receiving praise from netizens.

Russian Ilya Belyakov was born in Vladivostok and works as a medical translator in Korea. He came to Korea 11 years ago and, as it turned out, wants to break prejudices about Russia and talk about his country's relations with the United States and China.

Blair Williams, an Australian from Brisbane, graduated from the University of Queensland and majored in political science and the Korean language. The guy is currently working for a Korean company. He caught the attention of viewers with his good looks when he appeared as a guest on the show on December 1st.

Susan Shaki from Nepal was a guest on the show in the previous episode where the members talked about charity. He first came to Korea in 2010 and is currently studying at Dongguk University in Seoul. He wants to go into more detail about Nepal, which is an unfamiliar country for many Koreans.
