Instructions for replacing the ignition switch
The ignition lock on all models of the Zhiguli of the “classic” family, including the VAZ 2106, is completely similar in design. Therefore, the replacement procedure will be the same. To carry out work on replacing the lock, we need two screwdrivers:
- Thick cross
- Thin flat

To get to the part we need, the first step is to remove the decorative casing, which is located under the steering wheel. To do this, unscrew all the bolts connecting its two parts and remove it, first the lower part:
And the top one:
Now the ignition lock is fully open and the entire structure is available for removal. To do this, you must follow all the steps described below:
We disconnect all the power wires from the back of the lock, it is advisable to mark them later on how they were connected:
Now you need to unscrew the two bolts securing the lock to the body, the photo below shows the bottom view so that it can be clearly seen:
After the two bolts are completely unscrewed, it is necessary to turn the ignition key to position 0, that is, to turn off the power supply to all devices in the car. And on the left side, insert a thin screwdriver into the hole to press the latch. This is actually shown below:
And at this time we pull the lock body upwards, after which it should rather simply come out:
Now you can buy a new lock on the VAZ 2106, which costs about 350-400 rubles.
Replacing is done in the reverse order, and there should not be any difficulties. The main thing is to connect all the wires correctly to the lock contacts.
