Turning on the computer on the phone. How to turn on a PC using an android phone - Web Developer's Blog

Almost all manufacturers of smartphones running on the Android operating system provide users with software that allows you to control the gadget from a computer. There are many programs: HTC Sync, PC Suite, LG, Samsung Kies and others. However, they have one common drawback - they can only work with devices from one manufacturer. If you have several phones from different manufacturers, then you will have to install different programs, which is inconvenient.

Fortunately, there are many universal programs that allow you to control gadgets on Android. They are able to recognize any Android device, as well as work simultaneously with several devices. Consider the principle of managing a smartphone on the example of the MyPhoneExplorer program.

How to control the phone through a computer - installing and configuring the application

To start using the application, download it from the official website and install the client for your computer. Install the Android app from the Play Market.

The program allows you to connect to a computer in the following ways:

  • USB cable .
  • WiFi.
  • bluetooth.

How to control the phone through a computer - connection

First of all, make sure that you have installed interface debug drivers on your phone. They are usually installed automatically when you update your phone software. If you have not updated Android, then find them on the Internet and download them.

Connecting via USB cable

Check if USB Debugging is enabled on your phone. To do this, go to "Settings", select "For Developers" and click on "USB Debugging".

Connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable and run the “MyPhoneExplorer” application on the computer. Go to settings and select the connection type "USB cable". Click Connect.

When setting up the pairing utility of your Bluetooth adapter, select “MyPhoneExplorer”. After successful pairing, copy the number of the COM port through which the connection was made. Go to the “MyPhoneExplorer” settings, select “Bluetooth connection” and paste the COM port number into the window that opens. Click on "Connect".

Phone Screen Broadcast

Once the connection is established, you can proceed to synchronize the contents of your phone with your computer. To do this, click on "Miscellaneous" and select "Upload Screenshot". If you haven't used your phone for a couple of minutes and it goes into sleep mode, wake it up using the "Wake device" button.

Using a mouse instead of a finger

The program has a funny option “Show the mouse cursor in the phone”, although it disappears from the computer screen. How the mouse works:

  • Long tap - hold down the left mouse button for a couple of seconds.
  • Finger touch (Tap) - holding down the left mouse button.
  • Sliding on the screen - hold down the left mouse button and move the cursor in the desired direction. Release the key.

Features of MyPhoneExplorer

The program interface provides the ability to view and even edit the phone's basic data. With the help of the file manager, you can not only view files, but perform basic operations with them (create folders, delete, transfer, copy). You can view files on the phone's internal and built-in memory.

Your question:

How to turn on the phone through the computer?

Master's response:

Of course, it is impossible to turn on any faulty phone through a computer, but for some device models this possibility is still inherent. This applies to models that have an internal memory module and do not support flash drives. Before you try to turn on the phone by connecting to a computer, you must first download the service manual that fits your model.

First, look on the Internet by running a query or searching various forums that are dedicated to your manufacturer's phones, information that your phone model supports turning on through a computer. If you cannot find a combination to turn on your mobile phone in this way, then at least carefully read the list of necessary recovery utilities. Just remember that you do not need to use utilities that do not suit you, otherwise you can severely damage the device. The set of software is usually in English, so if you are not quite sure about the meaning of the words, then it is better not to use these applications.

Now download the program you found and connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Of course, it would be better to use a cell phone service manual, but they are very difficult to obtain because they never come with a phone and they are rarely posted on the Internet for sale.

If you cannot find the instructions for the programs, then open it with the Acrobat Reader program, reading there about the additional features of your mobile phone. Keep in mind that sometimes you need to remove the SIM card from your cell phone before connecting the device to your computer.

In the program that is running on your computer, select the desired command from the menu that will turn on your phone. Press the key combination that suits your model. Follow all the steps that are indicated in the instructions or service manual. If all this did not lead to positive results, then in this case it is better to take your cell phone to a service center.

At some point, it may happen that the power key of your Android phone or tablet fails. Today we will tell you what to do if such a device needs to be turned on.

There are several methods to start the device without a power button, but they depend on how the device is turned off: completely turned off or in sleep mode. In the first case, it will be more difficult to cope with the problem, in the second, respectively, easier. Consider the options in order.

Option 1: Completely turned off the device

If your device is turned off, you can start it using recovery mode or ADB.

Recovery
If your smartphone or tablet is turned off (for example, after the battery is low), you can try to activate it by entering the recovery mode. It's done like this.

Wait for the system to boot up and either use the device or use the programs below to remap the power button.

If you know for sure that USB debugging is disabled, then use the recovery method. If debugging is active, you can proceed with the actions described below.

In addition to control from the command line, an application is also available that allows you to automate the procedures for working with the Android Debug Bridge. With it, you can also force the device to reboot with a faulty power button.

Both recovery and adb are not a complete solution to the problem: these methods allow you to start the device, but it can enter sleep mode. Let's look at how to wake up the device if this happens.

Option 2: Device in sleep mode

If the phone or tablet has entered sleep mode and the power button is damaged, you can start the machine in the following ways.

Connect to charger or PC
The most versatile way. Almost all Android devices will wake up from sleep when plugged into a charger. This statement is also true for connecting to a computer or laptop via USB. However, you should not abuse this method: firstly, the connection socket on the device may fail; secondly, the constant connection / disconnection to the mains negatively affects the battery condition.

Phone call
When you receive an incoming call (regular or Internet telephony), the smartphone or tablet wakes up from sleep mode. This method is more convenient than the previous one, but it is not very elegant, and it is not always feasible.

Wake up with a tap on the screen
In some devices (for example, from LG, ASUS), the wake-up function is implemented by touching the screen: double-tap it with your finger and the phone will wake up. Unfortunately, it is not easy to implement such an option on unsupported devices.

Power button remapping
The best way out of the situation (except for replacing the button, of course) is to transfer its functions to any other button. These include all sorts of programmable keys (like calling the Bixby voice assistant on the latest Samsung) or volume buttons. We will leave the issue of programmable keys for another article, but for now we will consider the Power Button to Volume Button application.

Please note that on Xiaomi devices, you may need to fix the application in memory so that it is not disabled by the process manager.

Wake on sensor
If the method described above does not suit you for some reason, applications that allow you to control the device using sensors: an accelerometer, a gyroscope or a proximity sensor are at your service. The most popular solution for this is Gravity Screen.

Despite the great opportunities, the application has several significant drawbacks. The first is the limitations of the free version. The second is increased battery consumption due to the constant activation of sensors. Thirdly, some options are not supported on some devices, and other features may require root access.

Conclusion

As you can see, a device with a faulty power button can still be used. At the same time, we note that no solution is perfect, so we recommend that you, if possible, still replace the button, either by yourself or by contacting a service center.

Even the best and most secure smartphone has one of the most vulnerable parts of its design - the power button. In one day, it can withstand dozens, if not hundreds of clicks. As a result, the sum of mechanical influences leads to the fact that the power button fails. The power button can also break for a completely banal reason - after a smartphone or tablet falls on a hard surface.

A broken button is not a reason to go shopping for a new gadget. In our article, we will talk about how to turn on the phone without the power button. This will help you make an emergency call or complete interrupted work.

We will consider the steps to turn on a smartphone without a power button in several cases:

  • Smartphone is off;
  • The smartphone is switched on in sleep mode;
  • Turning on the smartphone using applications;

Option 1: How to turn on a switched off phone without a power button

The most proven way to use a mobile device with a broken power button is to connect the gadget to the network via a charger. While downloading, hold down the volume rocker.

If the smartphone did not run out of battery when the power button broke, try connecting the smartphone to a computer or laptop using a USB cable. You can read about possible problems connecting a smartphone to a PC and how to fix them on the helpdesk.fly-phone.ru forum in a special topic.

The third method is suitable for confident users who understand drivers and debugging programs. To turn on a smartphone without a hacker power button, you need to install the Android SDK on your PC. This is a development kit that includes the ADB tool, an Android debugging bridge that allows you to control your mobile device through the console on your PC.

To turn on your smartphone via ADB, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on USB debugging mode on your smartphone. To do this, go to the developers menu. How to launch this menu, you can read in the article 10 most useful hidden Android features;
  2. Download and extract the zip archive with the Android SDK;
  3. Install the ADB item to the root of the main drive, for example, c:\adb;
  4. Connect your smartphone to PC via USB cable;
  5. In the command console, write adb reboot;
  6. Press Enter;

If everything is done correctly, the smartphone will restart and work normally.

Option 2: How to turn on the phone without the Android power button in sleep mode

To wake up a sleeping smartphone without a power button, you can use one of four available methods:

  • Connect your smartphone to the charger. The gadget will automatically wake up from sleep mode and launch the unlock screen;
  • If your smartphone supports screen activation, double-tap on the display;
  • Press the mechanical Home button;
  • Call from another phone to your number;
  • Shake the phone if a similar activation function is available;

Option 3: Manage a smartphone with a broken power button using applications

If the power button on the smartphone does not break immediately, but starts to act up from time to time, you can insure yourself by installing special applications on your smartphone. With the help of such utilities, gadget control is configured without a power button.

A very lightweight and easy-to-manage application that will replace the power button on a smartphone. After installation, configure the main functions of the program:

  • Device in your pocket. When you put your smartphone in your pocket, the application will determine the angle you set and turn off the screen;
  • device in any position. The screen turns off in any position of the smartphone;
  • The device is on the table. The application turns off the screen by detecting the angle when the smartphone is placed on a horizontal surface;
  • Screen control by proximity sensor;

Here you can also adjust the sensitivity of the sensors to eliminate accidental triggering and set the delay time when the smartphone cannot be woken up by picking up.

An application that will configure the inclusion of a smartphone on the volume control buttons. There are only two active items in the utility menu: Boot and Screen Off. Check the box next to the Boot item, after which you can turn the smartphone on and off using the volume rocker.

Similar programs that can be downloaded for free on Google Play set up turning on and off the smartphone through a double tap on the screen or by shaking.

Good day, dear friends, acquaintances, readers, admirers and other personalities.

I think that many of you often thought about various, let's say, alternative ways to turn on the computer. In particular, we wrote, that is, without the participation of the power button on the case.

By the way, most likely many people know about such a thing as turning on a computer on a schedule or through the Wake-On-Lan function (that is, over a network using a "magic" package). As part of this article, we will combine business with pleasure and learn how to turn on a computer from a phone with, using, for starters, Wi-Fi.

Let's get started.

Wake-On-Lan and Android: turn on the computer from the phone

In simple terms, the Wake-On-Lan (W-O-L) function leads to a constant supply of power to the network adapter, which looks at all incoming packets and, if there is a "magic" among them, then turns on the computer. More details can be found on Wikipedia, and we will talk about the various applications of this functionality sometime separately.

Actually, you will need a motherboard with support for the above function, a phone or tablet, in this case, with Android (although Apple also has applications of this kind and many other places) and, for example, the Wake-On-Lan application of the same name (or its analogue).

First of all, you need to enable W-O-L in the BIOS (you can get there, as a rule, using the DEL key).

Usually the function is called that, i.e. Wake-On-Lan , but it may have a name, say, Power On By PME Device (or PCI PME Device ) as above. This is due to the fact that in addition to "traditional" network cards and internal modems, for example, an internal TV tuner can have the ability to wake up a computer.

You can take the above program, for example,. Installation is traditional for all Android applications.

The use is extremely simple. If you are in your Wi-Fi network, and the computer is connected to the router, say, with a cord, then just run the program and press the "+" button.

The next step will prompt you to enter the address manually or "pull" the interface by swiping your finger across the screen. We will talk about manually specifying the address and turning on the computer from the phone from anywhere in the world later, but for now, just use the automatic search.

Then it remains to select the desired device (computer or laptop) from the list (you can find out the address in the properties of the network connection on the computer), as well as assign it some "Color + Name" (it's also "Nick").

Well.. Done. It remains to click on the name of the device in the phone (in my case, i.e. in the screenshot above, this is the IP address on the local network, i.e. 192.168.1.2).

If it turns on, then you did everything right! :)

Afterword

In a nutshell, something like this. If the topic is of interest to you, then somehow I will consider how this can be done outside the native network and not only from the phone at all :)

As always, if you have any questions, additions, thoughts, and so on, then welcome to comment on this post.

Stay with us and everything is different;)
