Today, libraries are faced with a reduction in readership, are forced to look for new forms of attracting users and expand cooperation with institutions of the socio-cultural sphere. The reader-viewer is offered a new format of meeting with the book, the contact of two inseparable worlds - literature and theater.

School librarians of the Kurchatov district of Chelyabinsk presented the experience of interaction between the library and the theater at the city seminar, which took place on March 1, 2018.

Taking into account the interests and needs of our readers, school libraries continue to search for new, non-traditional and effective forms of work that carry not only cognitive information, but are spectacular, bright, and emotional.

Already at the entrance one could feel the theatrical atmosphere. The participants of the city seminar were greeted by cheerful buffoons (students of school No. 12 in Chelyabinsk), offering them to get acquainted with quotes from famous successful people.

The library plus the theater is a wonderful community that can bear fruit in the field of developmental reading for children, adolescents, and even adult readers. According to library tradition, the occasion for the production is the anniversary of a favorite children's writer.

Undoubtedly “the theater of the book is a creative reading of a work, lived through the acting skills of the reader... The translation of a literary text into a special stage language is done so that a person comes from the auditorium to the reading room. For a performance, it is enough to reach out to the shelf, take a book and make a performance out of it: revive the text through the game, movement, music ... "(Russian teacher O. Galakhova)

Theatrical events help to solve many urgent problems:

Promote the work of a particular writer;

To educate a competent reader with a high culture of choice and evaluation of what is read;

Introduce children to artistic and literary creativity.

Organization of thematic exhibitions of book publications on theatrical art, acquaintance of the reader with the works based on which theatrical performances are carried out. Thematic book exhibitions about actors, theater and theatrical art are aimed at expanding the readership and audience.

Forms of activity may include elements of a theatrical game and are an effective form of attracting the younger generation to reading. An element of a library performance can be a quiz that activates the thinking of young viewers, so you can use "hint" books containing answers to questions.

One of the creative forms of modern library work with children and adolescents is library theatrical performances, excerpts from the works of classics and contemporaries, staged fairy tales, theatrical games, colorful processions of literary heroes.

Showing small-form performances in the library is a great opportunity to acquaint readers with the activities of the theater and theatrical art in general, and thus, in a playful way that is closest to the perception of the child, there will be an acquaintance with the library fund.

In schools, librarians often work together with the heads of theater studios: this is the choice of a book for staging, conversations about the main characters, a story about the author of a work, joint rehearsals. We are sure that such interaction between the theater and the library is carried out in many schools in our city. After all, it's interesting!

For the seminar, a mini-performance "Undergrowth" was prepared by students of the branch "Lyceum No. 35 of Chelyabinsk". Bright and talented stars of the theater circle did not leave anyone indifferent.

It was also possible to maintain the theatrical atmosphere of the seminar through the interior of the theatrical buffet — a tablecloth with heavy fringe, a samovar, and wicker vases with treats.

For example, the historical scenes "The Age of Renaissance" by Count Gobineau, translated from French by N. Gorbov (M., 1918); tragedy I.V. Goethe "Egmon" translated by Yu.N. Verkhovsky (M., 1938), "Faust" translated by N.A. Kholodkovsky (M., 1936). From the series "Selected Works of German and French Writers" (edited by S.A. Manstein), the exhibition presents F. Voskresensky, etc. In an advertisement for the Teatral magazine for 1898, an “Index of 953 plays for amateur performances with designation of roles by role and necessary scenery” compiled by N.G.
