The long list includes 76 works. 8 authors were selected for the shortlist.
At the first stage, the selection of works was carried out by the organizing committee of the award and moderators of the Bookscriptor electronic platform. Then the jury, composed of members of the public association "People's Ministry of Literature", joined the work. Also, when selecting works for the Short List, the popular vote on the Bookscriptor platform was also taken into account.

The establishment of a children's nomination within the framework of the Gorky Literary Prize can also be considered a new undertaking. The first award ceremony for literary gifted children will take place at the Moscow International Salon of Education (VDNKh) on April 15, 2017.

The terms of participation:
