VIII International Festival "Cossack Village Moscow".

The event was organized by the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the city of Moscow, the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Cossack Affairs, the Military Cossack Society "Central Cossack Army" and the Synodal Committee for Interaction with the Cossacks.

On this day, representatives of Russian Cossacks from 44 regions of Russia, as well as from the Republic of Belarus, arrived in Kolomenskoye Park, which is a record figure in the entire history of the event. So, for the first time, Cossack communities from Kaliningrad, North Ossetia, Primorsky and Kamchatka Territories came to the holiday.

In an atmosphere of joy, prowess, spiritual harmony, the Cossacks communicated with each other, demonstrated to the guests Cossack rituals, types of weapons of the registered Cossack troops, as well as sportsmanship in freestyle horse riding, throwing knives, and archery. The festival of equestrian art of the Cossacks organized for the first time, in which more than 40 riders from equestrian clubs of Penza, Voronezh, Moscow and the Moscow region, took part, was of particular interest to the audience. The equestrian tournament, which included obligatory authentic complex tricks and tricks, became one of the main events of the Cossack holiday.








In total, 11 thematic sites were involved in the event. Thus, the guests of the holiday were able to get acquainted with the multimedia exposition about the history of the Cossacks, modern Cossack societies in Russia and abroad. The stanitsa fair was full of handmade souvenirs, Cossack-style arts and crafts, and culinary achievements. Guests and participants of the Festival were offered holiday cards, handicrafts in the form of, for example, slippers made of dried and sheep wool or children's dolls. National dishes were a great success.

The site "Cossack Compound" was remembered by the guests with an exhibition of traditional Cossack kurens and craft structures, which clearly demonstrated the everyday life of the Cossacks. According to the results of the competition between kurens, the kuren of the Kursk District Cossack Society was recognized as the best.

Professional craftsmen and animators worked at the Children's Playground, who entertained children with the old Cossack games Untangle the Circle and Run in Reverse, and also taught them how to make dolls and paint gingerbread. There were also master classes for adults: in the Craft City, anyone could learn woodcarving, beadwork, cross-stitching, knitting and other crafts under the guidance of experienced craftsmen.

And, of course, the visitors of the event were pleased with the bright concert program on the Main Stage, which started at 11:00 and ended after 20:00 with a bright laser show. During the day, 77 creative groups performed at the Festival venues, including the State Academic Russian Folk Choir named after V.I. M.E. Pyatnitsky, Moscow Cossack Choir and the State Dance Ensemble "Cossacks of Russia".

A creative competition was held on the small stage, in which artists from different cities and regions of Russia took part. According to the results of the competition program, the exemplary folk dance ensemble “Rodnichok” (Krasnodar Territory) became the laureate of the 1st degree in the nomination “The Best Folk Stage Cossack Group”. The winner of the 1st degree in the nomination "The Best Folklore Cossack Group" was the Exemplary Folk Song Ensemble "Kvitok" (Krasnodar Territory, the village of Kanevskaya). The winner of the 1st degree in the nomination "The best authentic and ethnographic Cossack group" was the group of the State Budgetary Institution of Culture of JSC "Astrakhan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center of Folk Culture" Ensemble of Traditional Song of the Astrakhan Cossacks.

In addition, a memorable feature of the Festival this year was the performance of the combined choir of Moscow State University of Technology. KG Razumovsky (First Cossack University), which was held for the first time as part of the event.

The festival also included the consecration of a camp temple, which was then donated to one of the departments of the registered Cossack army, which is one of the main traditions of the holiday. In 2018, a camp church in the form of a large tent with an installed iconostasis will be transferred to the Bryansk department of the Central Cossack army. The rite of consecration of the temple, which was performed by the executive secretary of the Synodal Committee, Priest Timofei Chaikin and the military priest, Priest Mark Kravchenko, was preceded by a water-blessing prayer service.







At 14:00, the opening ceremony of the Festival took place. The official ceremony was attended by Head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the City of Moscow Vitaly Suchkov, Assistant to the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the North-Western Federal District Andrey Tsarkov, Executive Secretary of the Synodal Committee for Interaction with the Cossacks Priest Timofei Chaikin and Deputy Ataman of the Central Cossack Army for cultural and educational activities Dmitry Ivanov.

Vitaly Suchkov cordially congratulated the Cossacks of Russia, participants and guests of the event and noted one of the main features of the holiday this year: “The difference between today's festival is that representatives of 44 regions of our country came to us. I would like to thank the leaders of these regions, military atamans, all those who took part in organizing this festival.” He also read out a greeting from the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government, Alexander Gorbenko. “Cossack village Moscow” is not only a memorable cultural event with a completely unique atmosphere, but also a platform for communication of like-minded people, people who care about the fate of the Cossacks,” the greeting says.

Andrey Tsarkov read out a congratulatory text on the occasion of the Festival, sent from the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District, Chairman of the Presidential Council for Cossack Affairs Alexander Beglov. As part of the event, a greeting from the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky was also announced.

Addressing the participants of the Festival, Priest Timofey Chaykin noted: “The heart rejoices that the Cossacks are becoming stronger and stronger in the spirit of brotherly love. This means that the life of the Cossacks themselves becomes stronger, more moral, elevated, and the whole people and our country become blessed and happy.”

Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Chairman of the Synodal Committee for Interaction with the Cossacks, addressed the participants in a video message. His Eminence, in particular, emphasized: “We respect the achievements of the Russian Cossacks in the past, we are confident in the good future of the glorious Cossacks. I ask you never to forget about the Church, about prayer. Only by protecting spiritual and moral traditions - faith, service, a strong family, the Cossacks can become what it was several decades ago.

The festival "Cossack village Moscow" became a bright event in the cultural life of the capital, introduced the guests of the holiday to the unique and original spirit of the Cossacks, its carefully preserved traditions and soulful songs.

In total, about 85,000 people attended this year's event.

    The event dedicated to the unique culture and traditions of the Cossack people is held by the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the city of Moscow together with the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Cossack Affairs and the military Cossack society "Central Cossack Host". The Festival is aimed at strengthening interethnic relations in the multinational capital of Russia, developing cultural traditions and family values, at a deep understanding of the original culture of the Cossacks, their patriotic aspirations.

    Among the 1300 participants of the Festival are registered and public Cossack organizations of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, educational institutions, creative teams from 28 constituent entities of the Russian Federation (including 63 folk amateur groups and performers, 12 professional and 15 children's groups with the participation of children aged 5 to 14 years old), sports clubs, craftsmen, historians and ethnographers.

    A large concert program will be presented on the Main Stage of the Festival. Cossack creative teams from different regions of Russia will demonstrate their creativity: Moscow and the Moscow region, Bryansk, Voronezh, Vladimir, Smolensk, Tambov, Tula, Ryazan, Kaluga, Astrakhan, Rostov, Volgograd regions, Stavropol and Perm regions, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and the Republic Mordovia. The Republic of Belarus will present the Ensemble of Cossack song and dance "Mom likes it!" and Folk Vocal Ensemble "Minstreli". The novelty of this year will be the holding of the contest "The Best Cossack creative team" in two categories: "adult" and "children".

    The key creative event of the Festival will be the performance of the State Academic Russian Folk Choir named after M.E. Pyatnitsky. In addition, guests will be pleased with bright performances by the laureate of international and all-Russian and, the participant of the Spasskaya Tower festival, the Moscow Cossack Choir, the laureate of all-Russian and international Anna Sizova, as well as the winner of the show “Voice. Children" Danila Pluzhnikov.

    10 thematic areas of the event will fully reveal the brightest facets of the life and culture of the Cossacks. The festival will present activities that immerse the guests of the holiday in the atmosphere of the Cossack village. All those who came to Kolomenskoye on August 26 are waiting for performances of musical and dancing Cossack groups, a demonstration of weapons possession, sports competitions and dishes of traditional cuisine. The Festival will feature exciting workshops on traditional crafts of the Cossacks under the guidance of 30 honored folk craftsmen - weaving, coin stamping, blacksmithing. Exciting Cossack games await young visitors. Also within the framework of the event there will be competitions in tug-of-war, cutting with a sword and archery, designed to revive interest in traditional Cossack sports and leisure.

    The novelty of the Festival this year will be an unprecedented song flash mob with the participation of the Moscow Cossack Choir, which will unite Cossacks from different regions and troops into a common Cossack choir.

    The most important event of the Festival will be the illumination of the Cossack camp church by Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Chairman of the Synodal Committee for Interaction with the Cossacks, and its transfer to the Moscow District Cossack Society.

    Interest in the event is growing from year to year. It is expected that the festival will bring together about 75 thousand guests (last year the Festival was visited by 72 thousand people, in 2014 - 48 thousand, in 2015 - 57 thousand). Vitaly Suchkov, head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the city of Moscow, readily speaks about the expansion of the boundaries of the Festival, its international status: “It is very important for us that the Cossack Village of Moscow become as interesting and attractive a holiday as possible. As we know, Cossacks also live abroad, and we are thinking that representatives of Cossacks who live outside our country, in far abroad countries, can also participate in our festival.”

    This year the festival "Cossack village Moscow", which will be attended by representatives from 33 regions of Russia, promises to be the most spectacular in the history of the event. The venues of the festival will open for visitors at 11.00. The grand opening of the event will take place at 14.00.

On September 15, 2018, the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve will host the Cossack Equestrian Art Festival for the first time as part of the VIII International Festival Cossack Village Moscow. Spectators will see demonstration performances of riders and a demonstration of the art of horse riding, get acquainted with the historical traditions and military culture of the Cossacks.

The festival is organized by the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the city of Moscow together with the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Cossack Affairs and the military Cossack society "Central Cossack Host".

Representatives of five equestrian clubs from different regions of Russia will take part in the event: The team of the Metelitsa equestrian club in Penza; Equestrian team of the Don Cossack Association in the city of Moscow; Group of military-historical riding "Dovatortsy", Moscow region; Team of the Horse Riding Center of Voronezh and the Voronezh Region; Military-patriotic equestrian club "Ermak", the city of Krasnozavodsk, Sergiev Posad district, Moscow region. A total of more than 40 riders will show their skills.

Everyone will be able to get acquainted with such equestrian sports disciplines as "Free riding", "Possession of weapons", "Overcoming obstacles". Performances will be held in the form of a tournament, in which a pair of riders from different teams of the equestrian club will take part.

As part of the Freestyle Djigitovka competition, viewers will be able to watch tricks of 4 degrees of difficulty, ranging from a simple stand on the stirrup to a shoulder stand head down, as well as see the most beautiful and most difficult tricks of riders, such as: scissors, reverse dragging, circus (round ) turntable, crawling under the horse's belly, Ural push and many others.

The competitions will be held in a personal-team format and will also include the theatrical program "Representation of Teams", which takes place in the form of a demonstration performance by each team and is designed to demonstrate the achieved technical, creative and artistic level. In the demonstration program, it will be possible to observe the maximum number of the most complex and spectacular exercises, tricks, tricks, where the sections "Possession of weapons" and "Freestyle trickery" are mandatory components. Additional sections will be "Training", "Extreme tricks", "Pedestrian block".

In the finals of the "Festival of the Equestrian Art of the Cossacks", following the results of the competition, a set of awards in the individual and team championships will be played, and on the central stage of the festival "Cossack village Moscow" the winners and participants of the competitions will be awarded.

Golovatyuk Vladimir Anatolyevich, the organizer of horse riding as a sports discipline of equestrian sport in Russia, a member of the Audit Commission of the Russian Equestrian Federation, a member of the Bureau of the Equestrian Federation of the Moscow Region, a coach of the highest category in equestrian sport, will act as the head of the judging panel of the competitions within the framework of the Festival.

“Dzhigitovka for the Cossacks is a familiar, primordial occupation. It was in the Cossack culture that horse riding was elevated to the rank of art. On September 15, 2018, the VIII International Festival "Cossack Village Moscow" will be held at the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. This year, this great holiday will reopen its doors for all Muscovites and guests of the capital to acquaint them with the unique culture and traditions that the spirit of the Cossacks keeps in itself.

On the main stage of the festival amateur and professional creative groups will perform, including honored and people's artists of Russia. Guests of the festival will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of the Cossack holiday. The combined choir of the First Cossack University and the winner of the competitions of Cossack culture, the vocal ensemble "Cossack Village" will also perform on stage.

On the small stage there will be a creative competition in 4 categories:

The best authentic and ethnographic Cossack collective;

The best folklore Cossack group;

The best folk-stage group;

The best Cossack dance.

Teams from more than thirty regions of Russia will take part in the competition. Spectators expect all sorts of productions illustrating folk signs, proverbs, fairy tales and other folk traditions. In addition, everyone will be able to test their knowledge of the Cossack history by participating in mind games.

Also, student Cossack amateur performances of the First Cossack University will be performed on the small stage.

The festival guests will be able to get acquainted with the history of the Cossacks, including the history of modern Russian military Cossack societies, at a specially prepared exposition, including the screening of documentary and feature films, as well as a description of the exploits of the Cossacks participating in the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War.

On the site of the festival, in the center of the built Cossack village, according to tradition, a camp temple will be installed, embodying the religious consciousness of the Cossacks.

Also on the territory of the festival will be presented the exposition of the First Cossack University "Ataman's House" (Cossack hut). The exposition will include a demonstration of Cossack cuisine, Cossack costume, Cossack crafts, fun and rituals, a presentation of the system of continuous Cossack education.

Within the framework of the festival, a parade of teams participating in the “Festival of Cossack Equestrian Art” will take place. The rite of seeing off a Cossack to the service of the guests will be shown by the Penza group of the Metelitsa equestrian club. There will also be exciting sports competitions in the following categories:

demonstration performances;

Overcoming obstacles;

Freestyle jigitovka;

Weapon possession.

Guests will be given master classes in traditional folk crafts: saddlery, coinage, basket weaving, pottery, resin jewelry making, wood carving and burning, knitting, etc.

The festival is held with the support of the Moscow Government for the eighth time and is one of the largest events that tell about the traditions and culture of the Cossacks.
