Singer Prince has died. American singer Prince has died. Prince has an unrecognized son.

A few days before his death, the famous artist was rushed to the hospital

Seven-time Grammy Award winner Prince has died at the age of 57. “Few artists have more profoundly shaped the sound and trajectory of popular music or touched so many people with their talent,” President Barack Obama said in a statement on the singer's death. “As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince has accomplished it all. Funk. Rhythm and blues. Rock'n'roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist and a thrilling performer." What caused the death of Roger Nelson, better known as Prince?

He was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park residence in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The causes of his death remain unclear and will be announced based on the results of the autopsy.

Transcripts of a 911 call from Prince's house were posted in the media - the caller said that an ambulance was needed for an unconscious person. Then he said, “There’s a dead man here.” And I tried to tell the dispatcher the correct address where to go. But it didn’t work out very well: “Uh, we’re here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and we’re at Prince’s house.” But another person next to the caller corrected him and told him the correct address: “Paisley Park, we are in Paisley Park.”

“You’re in Paisley Park, okay,” the dispatcher answered. “This is in Chanhassen. You and a man named...

“Yes, this is Prince,” the caller interrupted the question...

Police and doctors who arrived at the singer’s house found a lifeless celebrity. Attempts to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him were unsuccessful.

As news of Prince's death spread, several hundred people gathered outside the artist's residence, bringing flowers and balloons.

Prince was treated for a drug overdose six days before his death, according to the Internet portal TMZ, which specializes in rumors from the lives of “stars.”

Last Friday, Prince's private plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois. This happened a few hours after his speech. At this time, his representative said that the artist had been sick with the flu for the past few weeks. However, multiple sources told TMZ that Prince was rushed to a hospital in Moline, where doctors gave him a “life-saving injection,” usually used for opiate poisoning.

According to reports, doctors recommended that Prince remain in the hospital for knocking. The people accompanying the artist demanded to be given a separate room, and when they were told that this was impossible, the singer and the company decided to leave the medical facility. Three hours after his arrival, Prince, who continued to feel unwell, was discharged and flew home from Moline.

Apparently, to avoid speculation about his health, the day after his emergency visit to the hospital, Prince organized a big dance party for his fans. The artist himself appeared in public, showed off his new piano and new purple guitar - and although he did not sing, the musician told the two hundred fans who paid $10 per ticket words that can now be considered almost prophetic: “Wait a few days, before you waste your prayers.”

5 FACTS ABOUT PRINCE

* The real name of the singer, born into an African-American family on June 7, 1958, is Prince Roger Nelson. He received his name in honor of his father, whose stage name was Prince Rogers (and who performed in the jazz group Prince Rogers Trio). In an interview, the singer’s father said: “I named my son Prince because I wanted him to do everything that I wanted to achieve.” The musician gained fame under this name. However, in his career he also used other names: The Purple One (Purple or Purple) or The Artist Formerly Known As Prince (“the artist formerly known as Prince”). In the early 1990s, as his stage name, Prince chose an unpronounceable name in the form of a sign that combines symbols of the masculine and feminine principles (this sign is known among fans as the Love Symbol, “symbol of love”).

** He released his debut album (For You) in 1978, followed by the albums Prince (1979), Dirty Mind (1980) and Controversy (1981). Perhaps the singer's most popular album was Purple Rain (1984). Over the years of Prince's musical career, more than 100 million copies of the artist's recordings have been sold. In 2004, Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

*** His small height - 157 cm - did not prevent Prince from becoming a great musician. On Rolling Stone's list of the world's 100 best guitarists, Prince is in 33rd place, ahead of, for example, the legendary John Lee Hooker and the Edge of U2.

**** Despite rumors of a non-traditional sexual orientation, Prince's past was rich in romantic stories with many famous women - among them were Kim Basinger, Madonna, Canadian singer Vanity, singer Sheila Escovedo, model Carmen Electra (this pseudonym for Tara Leigh Patrick chosen by Prince himself), singer Anna Fantastic (the stage name was also invented by Prince) and Sherilyn Fein, who played Audrey Horne in Twin Peaks. In 1985, Prince became engaged to singer Susanna Melvoin and dedicated several songs to her. At the age of 37, he married 22-year-old singer and dancer Maite Garcia. Their son was born in October 1996 with a rare genetic disease - and died a week later. In 1999, the couple divorced. Prince's next marriage to Manuela Testolini, concluded in 2001 and ending in divorce in 2006, was also short-lived.

***** In 2001, Prince, who had previously studied the Bible with his friend musician Larry Graham, joined the Jehovah's Witnesses. Prince even sometimes went door to door knocking on people's doors to discuss his faith with them. The musician became a vegetarian. And he refused, for religious reasons, to undergo hip replacement surgery.

Singer Prince Rogers Nelson, known under the pseudonym Prince, was not only an incredibly talented person, but also a very extraordinary person. Although there were a huge number of women in his life, it cannot be said that Prince found his one and found personal happiness.

In addition, after the death of the famous singer, there was not a single heir of the first line, and the entire fabulous fortune of the star will probably go to his sister Taika Nelson. However, since the death of Prince, some media outlets have voiced new circumstances that may affect the decision on the division of his inheritance.

Does singer Prince have children?

According to official information, Prince has no children. The only son who was born in the marriage of the famous singer and Mayte Garcia, a backing vocalist and dancer who worked in his musical group, died a week after his birth.

The boy, named Boy Gregory Nelson, was born on October 16, 1996, a month premature, with severe Pfeiffer syndrome type 2. This disease is characterized by fusion of the bones of the skull, as a result of which it resembles a “shamrock”. In addition, very often with Pfeiffer syndrome there is proptosis of the eyeballs, disproportionately too wide fingers of both hands, various anomalies and diseases of the internal organs, as well as severe damage to the nervous system.

Pfeiffer syndrome type 2 is practically incompatible with life, and babies who are born with this serious disease almost always die at an early age. This happened with the star’s son, Boy Gregory, who died when he was 7 days from birth.

Prince and his wife Maite Garcia longed for children, and the loss of their newborn baby was a real blow to them. The man was so upset by the death of his only son that he plunged into work, and his young wife was left alone with her grief.

There was a deep crack in the relationship between the star couple, and a year after the death of the baby they broke up. The official divorce took place a little later - Prince and Maite filed papers to dissolve their marriage only in 1999.

In 2001, the singer again tied the knot with Canadian Manuela Testolini, however, after 5 years the girl filed for divorce. Prince had no children in this family, although the star really wanted to become a father.

Does Prince have an unrecognized son?

Although singer Prince had no officially registered children from his wives or other beloved women, after the death of the star, the 39-year-old man declared himself his offspring. According to Carlin Williams, currently serving a sentence in a Colorado prison, his mother Marsha Henson spent one night with Prince, who had just turned 18 at the time.

After this night, and 6 weeks before it, the woman did not have sexual intercourse with other men, and 9 months later she gave birth to a son, whom she named Carlin. Marsha Henson is confident that her only offspring is a direct descendant of the famous singer, and therefore has every right to claim him.

Soon, a person who insists on establishing a relationship with Prince will have to undergo a DNA test that can confirm or refute his mother’s position. Perhaps the famous singer really has a son, however, the performer himself never even suspected his existence.

In the United States, the famous rhythm and blues singer Prince died at the age of 57. He was found dead in his Minnesota home.

The famous American singer Rogers Nelson, known to the general public as Prince, was found dead today at his Paisley Park property in Chanhassen (Minnesota).

Previously it was reported about the musician’s health problems. So, he was recently urgently hospitalized at one of the medical centers in Illinois. It was reported that the artist had a cold. Due to illness, his concert in Atlanta was canceled.

On April 22, Minnesota State Police revealed some of the details of the discovery of the musician’s body.

“The first emergency workers on the scene tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but they were unable to revive the deceased,” AFP quoted local police as saying.

The statement also said emergency personnel found the singer unconscious in the elevator.

Prince's death may have been caused by a drug overdose.. TMZ wrote about this.

On April 15, after the concert, Prince's condition deteriorated sharply. Just 48 minutes before arriving at its destination, the singer's private plane was forced to land in Illinois. That day, the singer was urgently taken to the hospital. According to TMZ, doctors used drugs to help manage the effects of opiates.

Doctors advised the singer to stay in the hospital for a day, but could not provide a private room for this, which did not suit those accompanying Prince. They insisted that the patient be released just three hours after the start of the appointment, although, according to sources, he was not feeling well. After this, the group flew to Minnesota.

Prince - Cream

Prince Rogers Nelson born and raised in Minneapolis in an African-American family.

In his youth, he was fond of the recordings of James Brown, Sly Stone, George Clinton and Jimi Hendrix.

In 1977 he joined the group 94 East, created by his cousin’s husband, and in 1978 he released his first solo album, for which he independently wrote, produced, arranged and performed all the songs.

Prince's early recordings were revolutionary for rhythm and blues.

Based on the material of Prince's early work, music critics began talking about a special “Minneapolis sound,” which contrasted with the soft “Philadelphia sound” that dominated rhythm and blues in the 1970s.

After Prince, the previously existing division of rhythm and blues into lyrical “soul” and dance “funk” lost its relevance - each of his compositions was an original synthesis of these directions.

The peak of popularity occurred in the early 80s.

He announced the creation of the group The Time, under whose auspices four albums were released in the 1980s, the only author and performer of which was himself. The band continued on from gig to gig and was eventually renamed The Revolution.

In October 1982, the artist’s double album hit the shelves of music stores - 1999 - which made his name known outside the United States and turned him into the most popular musician on the planet after. Two tracks from the album became Prince's calling cards and were included in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the greatest songs of all time - dystopian "1999" and full of erotic overtones "Little Red Corvette".

The hysteria around Prince reached its peak in 1984 with the release of his most successful disc Purple Rain, which was accompanied by a film of the same name.

Throughout the year, Prince dominated the charts, sometimes simultaneously topping the lists of the best-selling albums, singles and films in the United States. The album spent 24 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200. Two songs from the disc - "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy" - reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and the majestic ballad "Purple Rain" stopped in second place, but was awarded an Oscar for best song for a film and was subsequently named “the best song of the 1980s” by Pitchfork magazine.

The album Purple Rain became the zenith of Prince's success - it regularly appears on lists of the best albums of the rock and roll era.

Prince - Purple Rain

Since the second half of the 1980s, Prince's creativity, no longer constrained by commercial considerations, began to evolve in the most unpredictable directions. Some attributed the psychedelic touch and experimental structure of his recordings such as "Batdance" (1989, theme to the film "Batman", 1st place in the US) to a craze for the drug "ecstasy".

With the onset of the nineties, Prince began to radically change his image and music. He disbanded The Revolution and created a new band, The New Power Generation, under whose name he released the successful album Diamonds and Pearls in 1991, remembered for the powerful vocals of Rosie Gaines.

While working on his own disc, he also helped Kate Bush record the albums Like a Prayer and The Red Shoes, respectively.

But the biggest changes in the singer’s image occurred after 1993 - when he released the album Prince logo.svg, the name of which was chosen to be a combination of the symbols of the masculine (♂) and feminine (♀). The same symbol became the designation of the artist himself.

Disappointing sales figures for Prince's new works have done little to dent his reputation as a musical wizard and one of the pioneers of modern rhythm and blues, as evidenced by his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

In February 2007, he performed to great acclaim during the Super Bowl XLI halftime show, becoming the highest-rated musical performance in recent American television history.

In 2001, Prince became a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect. Before this, he studied the Bible for two years.

Prince's height: 157 centimeters.

Prince's personal life:

Despite his small stature, he was of interest to women.

He had affairs with many stars, including actresses Kim Basinger and Sherilyn Fenn, singers Madonna and Carmen Electra.

In 1985 he was engaged to Suzanne Melvoin.

However, on Valentine's Day 1986, he married his singer and dancer Mate Garcia. In October 1986, their son, Boy Gregory, was born. The child was born with a rare genetic disease, Pfeiffer syndrome, and died a week later.

Prince and Mate divorced in 1999.

In 2001 he married Manuela Testolini. In May 2006, she filed for divorce.

In 2007, he began a relationship with his protégé Bria Valente.

While the official cause of death has not been established, the police spoke about the circumstances of the celebrity’s death, and the Prince’s relatives shared details of the last days in the life of the legend.

“On April 21, at approximately 9:43 a.m., police patrol responded to a call at the Paisley Park studio in Chanhassen. Police and medical workers found the body of a man in the elevator without signs of life. They tried to give him first aid, but they failed to revive the victim. He was pronounced dead at 10.07 am. The man has been identified as Prince Rogers Nelson, 57, of Chanhassen. The circumstances of the death are being clarified,” the local police department reported details of the tragedy.

The artist’s relatives said that he had recently complained of a lingering flu, which is why he even canceled two concerts in April. A few days before his death, the Prince became ill on the plane. An insider then said that he was dehydrated, and despite the fact that the artist was discharged from the hospital a few days later, he looked sick and tired.

Prince's friend and former bandmate Andre Simone said that he recently corresponded with the artist, and he assured him that he was feeling fine.

“He said he was fine and promised that we would meet the next time he came to Los Angeles. I'm completely devastated and can't believe it. This is such a tragedy,” admitted Andre.

At the same time, the Prince spoke at a party at one of the clubs and, when asked by fans about their well-being, he hastened to reassure them, asking them “not to waste their prayers.” But the celebrity’s neighbors claim that in recent weeks he looked irritated and tired and was often seen in the local pharmacy.

The artist’s ex-wife Manuela Testolini, with whom the Prince was married from 2001 to 2006, refused to comment on the news of her ex-husband’s death, only admitting to reporters that it was unexpected for her. “No, I’m not fine,” the woman noted.
