serves to consolidate the scope of rights and responsibilities that a given teacher receives upon employment. We will talk about what should be reflected in the job description of this specialist in the article below.

Structure of a teacher’s job description according to the Federal State Educational Standard

A teacher's job description is an official document that is used in personnel records management. There are no legally approved requirements for its structure and content, but usually a document of this type contains the following information:

I would also like to clarify that when drawing up instructions for any teacher, it is necessary to take into account the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard (FSES) (federal state educational standard). For example, previously existing educational standards did not affect the child’s extracurricular activities, but the new Federal State Educational Standard determines that 10 hours a week should be allocated for the child to attend various clubs and sections.

General provisions of the job description of a teacher of additional education

Not everyone is allowed to work with children. The Federal Law “On Education in the Russian Federation” No. 273-FZ of December 29, 2012 states that a person who wants to engage in teaching must meet the qualification requirements that are set out in the qualification directory. Thus, these requirements should also be reflected in the job description.

Thus, in the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation No. 761n dated July 26, 2010 (one of the documents forming the Unified Qualification Directory of Positions), the educational requirements for the qualifications of a teacher of additional education are set:

  • higher or secondary vocational education in a field corresponding to the work profile;
  • higher or secondary vocational education in combination with additional professional education in the direction of “Education and Pedagogy”.

As a rule, there are no requirements for length of service. The only exception is when a candidate applies for the position of senior teacher - for this he must teach for at least two years.

Don't know your rights?

Among other things, in job description for additional education teacher the requirement for the amount of knowledge and skills of the applicant is fixed. For example, he must know the regulations related to teaching (the Convention on the Rights of the Child, etc.), as well as master modern teaching methods and pedagogical technologies.

In general, the “General Provisions” section describes:

  • job title (additional education teacher);
  • chain of command (indicating who needs to report to, who makes decisions about hiring and firing);
  • qualification requirements, which may include education and experience requirements;
  • skills and knowledge that a teacher must have.

Job responsibilities of an additional education teacher

This section is devoted to what a teacher should do after employment as part of the performance of his labor function. Typically, an additional education teacher is charged with:

  • conduct training sessions;
  • draw up lesson plans and programs;
  • engage in additional education for children;
  • attract children to study in a section (club), maintain interest in the educational process throughout the school year;
  • choose the form of training and methods of its implementation, justifying your choice with pedagogical expediency;
  • identify the creative abilities of students and develop them;
  • motivate students and develop their abilities;
  • link theoretical knowledge to practical exercises;
  • analyze student achievements;
  • evaluate the effectiveness of training;
  • pay special attention to children with developmental disabilities, as well as gifted and talented students;
  • respect the rights and freedoms of students, ensure the safety of the educational process;
  • improve your own skills, study and implement the latest work methods.

This is an approximate list of job responsibilities of an additional education teacher. If necessary, it can be expanded or adjusted depending on the specifics of the educational organization for whose employee the instructions are written.

Teacher's rights

In order to be able to perform his job duties, a teacher of additional education is endowed with rights, the scope of which is recorded in the relevant section of his job description. At the same time, the employer often writes here only general phrases or references to regulations that define the rights that the teacher will be granted. Typically, the rights of an additional education teacher include:

  • rights enshrined in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and the Federal Law “On Education”;
  • the right to participate in the management of the school in the form established by its charter;
  • the right to protect one's professional reputation;
  • the right to improve the level of one’s qualifications;
  • the right to undergo certification to confirm or improve one’s qualification category;
  • the right to give orders to students within their competence;
  • the right to apply pedagogical measures to students permitted by the school charter.

Teacher's responsibility

A teacher is a person who works with children, so high demands are placed on his moral and ethical qualities. After all, even his small offenses, which would be excusable in an adult group, can have a detrimental effect on the child’s psyche. That is why in this section of the job description it makes sense to indicate what exactly the teacher is responsible for.

For example:

  • for incomplete implementation of the educational program;
  • life and health of students during their stay at school;
  • violation of students' rights;
  • failure to comply with orders related to labor protection and safety during the educational process;
  • committing actions during the educational process that pose a threat to students;
  • failure to provide pre-medical care to students in need;
  • failure to provide instruction to students on the topic of occupational safety in cases where it is necessary.

Here the teacher is warned that he may be subject to such types of liability as disciplinary, criminal or administrative (for example, for physical or mental violence against a student).

At the same time, the procedure for bringing to responsibility is usually not prescribed in the job description, since this issue is regulated by law. The decision to impose disciplinary liability is made by the head of the educational institution, but cases of administrative offenses and crimes are considered by the competent authorities.

Although the theses reflected in job descriptionadditional education teacher, in practice are applied taking into account a number of conditions and additions, it is this document that serves as the main guideline in determining its rights and obligations. The teacher’s signature at the end of the document confirms not only the fact that the instructions have been read, but also the agreement to fulfill the responsibilities enshrined in it and to use the rights granted to him.

If every child is introduced to this before starting school, then the position of an additional education teacher is not familiar to everyone.

In fact, specialists in this field are often in front of our eyes. An additional education teacher teaches subjects and courses that are not included in the compulsory curriculum. As a rule, they lead clubs, sections, and studios.

Despite the fact that most children and their parents associate electives with relaxation and free time (albeit usefully), the duties of additional education are quite extensive. His work, in terms of responsibility, is in no way inferior to the work of a teacher at a school or higher educational institution.

Who is an additional education teacher?

Most parents do not want their child's interests to be limited to school work. Moreover, many children themselves strive to develop in different areas.

For this, there are various elective activities: courses, clubs, etc. They can be associated with both intellectual and sports activities. For example, a club for studying English or French, computer science courses, a vocal studio, a sports school, dance lessons - all this equally applies to additional education.

As a rule, even first-graders already have some interests or preferences, on the basis of which they can decide on choosing studios or clubs to attend after school hours.

As mentioned earlier, the additional education teacher is responsible specifically for electives. These electives can be at a school or university, or at a specialized institution: a children's and youth arts center, a private or public art studio, a music or dance school, and so on.

Any sample job description for a teacher of additional education first of all presupposes the presence of the necessary qualifications to carry out teaching activities. First of all, we are talking about specialized pedagogical education. In addition, it is important to have confirmation of the skills that the teacher plans to teach children.

Employee requirements and job responsibilities

The list of requirements for teachers gives grounds to assert that not everyone can become the head of an elective. An ideal specialist should not only have the appropriate education and necessary qualifications (which is also important), but also be able to competently organize classes and find a common language with visitors to the elective. It is especially difficult for those who combine work at school and conducting extracurricular activities. Typically, such specialists get used to strict discipline in the classroom and demand the same in additional classes, forgetting that additional classes have a more free and even playful form. This does not mean at all that discipline should be absent: it should just take a slightly different form.

It is also important to remember that a teacher of additional education works not only with children, but also with adolescents: electives can be organized both at school and at higher educational institutions. In addition, there are various private and budget studios responsible for extracurricular training, where both children and adults can be invited to study.

Additional education duties include:

  • Formation of groups to participate in classes. Since electives are not required to attend, the teacher must be able to competently present his studio or his club and motivate students to attend it.
  • Drawing up training programs, teaching materials, developing lesson plans.
  • Organization of events in which elective students can participate: reporting concerts, seminars, festivals, competitions, etc.
  • Training elective students in the stated skills, systematically supporting the level of developed talents.
  • Consultations for parents on the development of certain talents and skills in the child, education.
  • Methodical work.

The duties of a teacher of additional education can also safely include systematically improving one’s level of qualifications, otherwise the knowledge and skills acquired by a specialist many years ago will gradually become outdated.

In addition, the teacher must ensure the safety of all elective students during classes. To do this, you need to have theoretical knowledge and practical skills of how to behave in extreme situations.

Differences in the work of a full-time teacher and a teacher of additional education

At first glance, it seems that the responsibilities of a teacher of additional education are no different from the responsibilities of any school teacher or teacher of a higher educational institution of any accreditation.

Indeed, there is a lot in common, but there are also some differences.

As mentioned earlier, it is important to understand that additional education is not the main one, and elective students have the right to stop classes at any time. This is what makes the motivation system different. At school or university, training is a mandatory requirement to obtain relevant knowledge, an educational document and, subsequently, to get a good job. It is this fact that becomes the basis of student motivation. In elective classes, the very fact of obtaining the necessary skills, primarily for one’s own development, is important, and all other factors are relegated to the background. The task of the additional education teacher is to create a competent atmosphere and environment in the classroom so that students’ interest in the subject being studied does not fade. As a rule, sincere interest is enough, since most elective students choose some kind of additional classes for their own development.

The responsibilities of a teacher of additional education at school come down to not only organizing a club or studio for students, but also helping them combine the development of club skills and recreation with their main studies. As a rule, such clubs and studios are organized within the walls of the school and therefore it is psychologically difficult for children to readjust. This is beneficial to the teacher, since the children still feel comfortable in the lesson, but it is not very reasonable from the standpoint of a competent methodology for extracurricular activities.

Organizing discipline in the classroom, teaching the subject, maintaining documentation, drawing up curriculum, nurturing the personal qualities of students are the main job responsibilities of a teacher. has almost the same tasks with a small addition: it is optional. Therefore, the head of the elective does not have the right to demand unquestioning obedience from the student. Instead, you can establish a list of rules and familiarize children and their parents with them.

If an elective is organized on the basis of a school or university, the task for the manager in organizing holidays and events is simplified. As a rule, events are already planned for various holidays in the educational institution, starting from the First Bell and ending on the Eighth of March. If the elective is creative in nature (songs, dances, performances, etc.), then children usually perform at school holidays.

Additional education in preschool educational institutions is the same as that of a specialist with an identical position in other educational institutions. The difference is that with the organization of reporting events, things are more complicated if the preschool educational institution is of a budgetary nature. It is not always possible to obtain sufficient funding for reporting concerts, not to mention normal conditions for their holding.

Drawing up work programs

The instructions of a teacher of additional education at school involve not only teaching children in practice, but also preliminary planning of future lessons. To do this, you need to draw up a curriculum and work programs.

It is important that the work program is flexible enough so that it can be adapted to the needs and requirements of a specific group of elective students. Practice shows that there is not a single program so perfect that it would be suitable for any team without adaptation.

In addition, some teachers use the experience of foreign colleagues. In this case, there is often a need to adapt foreign educational programs to the national and socio-cultural characteristics of students.

It is worth noting that the curriculum is drawn up in the form of an official regulatory document. It should consist of:

  • Descriptions of the activities of the elective.
  • A detailed hourly plan outlining the material studied during these hours.

The learning process must coincide with the curriculum.

Passing the certification

Both experienced and new teachers know that their job is not just about teaching children or adults. Almost half of the working time is spent preparing documents (including working on curricula and filling out journals), participating in teacher councils, courses and webinars for advanced training.

The level of qualifications also affects the size of wages. Moreover, professional growth is the responsibility of a teacher of additional education both at school, and at a higher educational institution, and in a separate cultural organization.

A teacher's qualifications are determined by his results during certification, which is carried out on average once every five years. For this purpose, the educational institution in which the teacher works assembles a special expert commission.

The result of the certification should be the assignment of a category to a specialist. There are three categories for additional education teachers: first, second and highest.

Modern technologies at work

The functional responsibilities of an additional education teacher also include organizing the learning space and providing elective students with everything necessary for normal work. As a rule, financing issues fall on the shoulders of directors of art institutions or directors of schools, universities, and technical schools.

Nevertheless, the head of the elective must notify his superiors of the need for any materials or equipment for work and competently justify this.

Mostly, sports or choreographic classes require non-technical equipment: mats, sports mats, a machine, balls, etc.

If the elective is aimed at studying computer science or languages, there is definitely a need for good technical equipment in the classroom.

In addition, the teacher himself must be able to competently use technological progress. Having your own website or blog is a definite plus, despite the fact that this is not part of the job responsibilities of an additional education teacher. Colleges and universities even often teach the basics of developing a simple website.

If it is not possible to create your own business card website, there should at least be a presentation that reflects the teacher’s work experience and approach to teaching.

Participation in professional competitions

Another thing that does not relate to the job responsibilities of an additional education teacher, but at the same time provides huge advantages, is participation in competitions.

Undoubtedly, certificates and diplomas confirming the victory of elective students in competitions and festivals also go to the teacher’s portfolio as a bonus, but their own victories in teaching competitions are valued much more.

There are many competitions that evaluate the quality of the developed methodological program and curriculum. Another option is the preparation of articles or even entire scientific monographs on the approach to working with children: in this case, usually only publication in a collective collection and the awarding of a certificate are assumed.

If a teacher teaches classes in creative subjects, he can participate in high-level creative competitions for dancers, musicians, singers, depending on his field of activity.

Specialist rights and their protection

It is worth remembering that additional education teachers have the right to protection of working conditions. As a rule, the heads of educational institutions are responsible for ensuring normal work activities for their employees.

Protecting the rights of an additional education teacher begins with the fact that every specialist should know them. Teachers have the right to:

  • Normal statutory working hours. The number of working hours per week should not exceed 40 for those who work for a salary.
  • Training.
  • Making demands on children and their parents to maintain discipline and maintain a normal atmosphere for the educational process.
  • Statutory leave.

Many rights overlap with the job responsibilities of an additional education teacher. This ensures a normal level of modern teachers who are interested in both personal and professional growth.

Many young teachers need advice from older colleagues. Here are a few of them.

  • Although additional education is not included in the main curriculum, it is necessary to maintain the proper level of discipline. In order not to overdo it and not turn extracurricular activities into standard school ones, it is necessary to find an adequate approach to establishing discipline so that the atmosphere during classes remains relaxed, but sufficiently conducive to classes.
  • The rights and responsibilities of an additional education teacher must be respected equally. If for some reason responsibilities are prioritized over rights, this is a cause for concern. An example of a violation would be a situation where management forcibly demands overtime by the hour before an important event, but does not give time off after that.
  • Consider the age of the students. The curriculum must be adapted to this factor.

Summary

A teacher of additional education faces a task no less important than a teacher at a school or university. It should help the student develop his or her skills in his or her chosen field. Any elective requires full involvement in the process, therefore a teacher of additional education is almost no different from a classical teacher. The need for documentation and constant re-certification is equally present.
