Aerobatic team "Rus" - the oldest aviation aerobatics team in Russia.
The squadron was formed in 1987 on the basis of the Vyazemsky Aviation Training Center, where it is still based.
The history of the group began with a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the celebration of the 70th anniversary October revolution, in honor of which it was decided to arrange a grandiose aviation and sports festival at the airfield in Tushino. The Vyazemsky UAC was given the task of assembling and training a squadron of aerobatic pilots in record time. It was then that ten L-39 Albatross were transferred to the Center from the Air Force, on which they were to perform in front of the audience. But the pilots had neither piloting schemes nor experience, all this had to be worked out in just three months .. And they did it! On June 3, 1987, a formation of 9 aircraft was built in the air for the first time.. This day we consider the day of creation aerobatic team "Rus".

Historical reference: Vyazemsky educational aviation center DOSAAF was founded on June 2, 1960 for the training and retraining of flight and engineering personnel of the Armed Forces. Over the entire period, about 5,000 pilots were trained to serve in the Air Force and form a reserve, first on MIG-15, MIG-17 aircraft, and then on L-29 and L-39 aircraft. Many distinguished pilots and cosmonauts were trained at the Center, including Svetlana Savitskaya.

Pilots of the "Rus" squadron are the only pilots in our country flying L-39 "Albatross". These light jet attack aircraft are used by the Russian Air Force as trainers. Soon, at the end of 1987, Colonel Yuri Dmitrievich Bykov was appointed head of the Vyazemsky Aviation Training Center and leader of the aerobatic team. The program of the aerobatic team was improved, and was repeatedly demonstrated at various solemn events.

Aerobatics elements

Aerobatics team "Rus" has its own program of performances, containing various elements of group and single aerobatics. G-loads experienced by pilots range from -4 to +8. The minimum distance between aircraft during flight is one meter.

Formation aerobatics

  • "Pass Through"- an element of oncoming aerobatics. One plane passes through a formation of six planes.
  • "Fan"- a single plane rolls around five planes flying in a diamond formation. Initially, it was carried out by only two aircraft - one rolls around the trajectory of the other.
  • "Mirror"- the passage of a pair of aircraft with lowered landing gear, the leader makes a half-roll and begins an inverted flight. When flying in front of the audience, the impression is briefly created “ specular reflection» wingman aircraft.
  • "Cross"- a group of aircraft flies in the "cross" formation (Christian). This figure is performed by a group of 6 or 9 aircraft. In a group of 6 aircraft, the aerobatics element is performed as follows: four aircraft line up behind each other, and two more - symmetrically on the sides at the level of the second aircraft in the row; in a group of 9 aircraft - five aircraft line up sequentially in a row, the remaining four - symmetrically in pairs on the sides of the second in a row.
  • Dissolution of the "Fountain"- carried out by four aircraft.
  • Dissolution "Tulip"- carried out by six aircraft.
  • "Heart"- Two planes (or two links - six planes) draw a figure in the shape of a heart with a white train, a single “arrow” plane “pierces” it.
  • "Barrel Four"- four planes roll around their trajectory (in this case, a “flip” of the formation occurs, and then return to their original positions).
  • "Steam barrel"- similar to the "Barrel Four", but it is performed by two aircraft.

Single aerobatics

  • "Bell"- see bell.
  • "Rising Corkscrew Barrel"- a barrel with a climb. For the first time on the L-39, it was performed by the soloist of the Rus group Valery Sobolev.
  • "Drunken Pilot Landing"- when approaching for a landing, the aircraft begins to perform abrupt maneuvers with climb and loss of altitude.
