Kirill Bulychev village. Kir Bulychev - Settlement

fantasy novel Bulychev's "village" speaks of hope, which helps to survive even in conditions of unearthly aggression. This hope helps to remain human, not to lose human face even to those who were not born on Earth.

The novel begins with sketches of life in this very village. At first glance - in the most ordinary, although poor and abandoned. However, you gradually realize that the action takes place in the future, even on another planet. The Earth, I would like to believe, will not become like this: aggression is poured simply in everything. For example, lianas attack people in the forest, mushrooms burrow into the ground from “hunters”, tumbleweed becomes a terrible poisonous weapon, trees shrink under dense bark ... What can we say about animals? The attack of the "wolves" is akin to a natural disaster, although these poisonous creatures are fighting alone, while their other associates are watching, as if for a show.

The inhabitants of the village are also very "wild", although, in case of danger, the community stands up for everyone. But here the conflict of generations is at its peak: the older ones all tell “tales” about the Earth, the younger ones are more like Mowgli. The Old One tells them about life “there”, it is too hard for the rest of the earthlings to remember - women, for example, immediately begin to cry.

Of course, we can talk about some degradation of the descendants of earthlings in this aggressive environment. It turns out that once a spaceship crashed on this inhospitable planet. But people, even after so many years, are trying to get to it, dreaming about the Earth.

A team of young people is being formed (Maryana, Dick, Oleg, Thomas), who decide to reach the wreckage of the ship, which no one has yet succeeded in hot-air balloon. This was the third attempt to return to Earth, because, it is clear that on this aggressive planet a small group of earthlings (there are almost forty of them, along with children born here) have no future. The main character of the novel is Oleg, a somewhat gloomy fifteen-year-old boy who is in love with Maryana, but he is not as strong and courageous as the hero Dick.

Here, astronauts land on their planet, who must destroy the traces of the crashed ship in order to erase the traces of earthlings on the "wild" planet. In the final, two expeditions (earthlings and "natives") meet. The finale remains open - everything ends with a cry of either joy or horror.
Of course, I want to believe that all the efforts and sufferings of the lost earthlings were not in vain.
By the way, based on this work, two comics and even a cartoon were created.

Thirteen years of travel

One hundred and six years ago, the ship "Antey" left the Earth.

And no matter how great its speed, no matter how insignificant the resistance of the cosmic vacuum to a giant bullet, the flight path of which connects the Earth, already indistinguishable even in the most powerful telescope, and alpha Cygnus, the path will take a total of one hundred and nineteen Earth years.

One hundred and six years have passed on Earth since the day when seventy-six cosmonauts, in last time looking at the blue sky, at the fluff of clouds and the green of the trees, they entered the planetary boats, and they soared up, where at an altitude of one and a half thousand kilometers, in a constant orbit, the Antey was waiting for them.

Flying up, they could look at this house from afar. To one the spaceship looked like a clumsy insect, to another it looked like a broken child's toy. "Antey" will never have to descend to Earth or to another planet. He was destined to be born in space, where he was collected, and die there. Therefore, the designers created it without regard to the resistance of the environment. To an unaccustomed eye, it seemed an illogical combination of rings, pipes, balls, antennas and cubes.

While the ship was picking up speed - and its acceleration took months - the crew of the Antey could see the Earth. At first it occupied half the sky, but gradually turned into a fading dot among millions of similar and brighter dots...

Thus began the journey. One hundred and six years have passed.

In another thirteen years, Antey will reach its goal.

Pavlysh passed the twenty-fourth reserve corridor and stopped in front of the door to the greenhouse. The greenhouse was abandoned about fifty years ago, and, except for mechanics, no one came here.

The door didn't move immediately. It was as if its mechanism had forgotten how to open it.

When Stanzo talked about the abandoned greenhouse, Pavlysh imagined that he would see lush jungles, thickets of lianas and strange flowers hanging from the crowns.

The greenhouse was a mystery, a revelation. The journey to her - more than an hour of walking through the empty corridors and halls of the ship - prepared for the mystery.

The path turned out to be normal.

Somewhere in the middle of the road, he met a cleaning robot, and in ball "D" he got into the area of \u200b\u200bused warehouses - they were dimly lit, empty boxes and containers piled up in the noisy halls.

There was desolation here. The paint of the walls, theoretically eternal, has faded, sheets of plastic cladding have lagged behind in some places. It smelled of warm dust.

Pavlysh could not get rid of the feeling that the emptiness was watching him. That she has eyes.

The ship was inhabited by memory.

It was the oldest ship on Earth. He was over a century old.

Over the years, new alloys and light sources have been invented on Earth, even boxes and containers would have been different if the Antey had set off a hundred years later. Everything would be different.

The ship was not decrepit, but very old. It was designed to spend many decades in space. And still got old.

And gradually emptied.

One by one, his warehouses were vacated, distant rooms and corridors were closed - there was no longer any need for them. On the day when Pavlysh went to look for an abandoned greenhouse, there were twice less people than one hundred and six years ago. The living, operating part of the ship shrank every year. So the empty village is besieged by the forest, occupying already unnecessary fields and mowing.

Pavlysh opened the door to the greenhouse and was disappointed because there was no lush jungle there.

Long dry beds.

Among the dried stems are thorny bushes. Brown grass at the feet, whips of degenerate peas crawl along the walls, in some places flasks and test tubes remained on dusty laboratory tables - many years ago someone set up experiments here. Now there is enough greenhouse in the ball "B".

The stems rustled, shuddered.

Something gray darted to the far end of the greenhouse. Pavlysh recoiled back. Nobody could be on the ship. Nobody extra.

He jumped out the door and pressed the button. First you need to isolate the room. Then call for help. Everything that is unknown, incomprehensible, can be dangerous. Not only for Pavlysh - for the whole ship.

The door reluctantly moved. Pavlysh stood alone in a very quiet corridor. The ceiling was lit up.

He was on a ship where nothing could penetrate from the outside.

There must be a real explanation for what he saw.

It will be good if he runs to Stanzo and says that he saw something in an abandoned greenhouse. And what? Something.

Then Pavlysh opened the door again.

He closed it behind him. So that this Incomprehensible could not get out. Then he cautiously walked forward.

He tried not to step on the beds. The ceramic floor tiles crunched underfoot. Some fell out easily. There was an unpleasant rotten smell in the greenhouse.

Two steps from the place where something jumped out, Pavlysh froze.

About ten meters away was a rounded wall - the end of the greenhouse.

And then he saw.

There, in the tangle of branches, sat two gray cats.

They looked at him point-blank, reasonable and wary. In the semi-darkness - here the illumination was much weaker than at the entrance - their eyes burned with a yellow evil fire.

Something else was missing, ”Pavlysh said aloud. Should have guessed right from the start.

Once someone decided that Antey needed animals. Home. Such that they will not eat much, but will brighten up the loneliness of people.

And a cat family appeared on the ship.

And although they were watching her, trying to control the number of this tribe, it was not the first time illegal, unrecorded cats were found in the remote corners of the ship.

Cats need something to eat. So they had mastered the ventilation ducts, and the greenhouse was not as isolated as it seemed.

Live, - Pavlysh allowed the cats.

He bent down and pulled a pale, almost white stalk out of the ground.

Some kind of life still glimmered. It will be necessary to tell Christa, let him look here.

There were no more ghosts in the greenhouse.

Ghosts are part of ship folklore. For more than a hundred years, folklore must necessarily appear on the ship.

In the depths of his soul, Pavlysh wanted to see a ghost. This does not mean that he believed in such nonsense. But when a ship is so old and infinite, there must be something extraordinary in it.

3

Pavlysh did not want to return to the living quarters of the ship.

There will be things right there. And when else will it be possible to repeat this leisurely journey?

Pavlysh went from the greenhouse to the connecting tunnel, which leads to the Outer Garden. And go back through it.

On the way, he looked into former library. Once part of the living quarters was located in this sector of the ship, and a branch of the library was located nearby.

There was a different smell in the library - the smell of film. Cells for microfilms and videotapes were opened. Some have ribbons.

Pavlysh knew why. When the library was transported, those cassettes that were duplicated in the main one were not taken.

Pavlysh understood that he was not expected to be opened here either, but nevertheless he spent several minutes reading the inscriptions on the cassettes.

In one of the drawers, he found the eighth, sixteenth and twentieth series of "Underwater World", which in main library did not have.

Then I found several cassettes without labels. He also took them with him.

After about twenty minutes he reached the connecting tunnel and stopped in front of the elevator.

It was brighter here, people came here sometimes.

The elevator lifted Pavlysh up several tiers, which was a conditional concept, since the bottom is always the center of the ship, the top is its external premises. The gravitational field created by the engines was hidden in the central ball.

The lounge in front of the Outer Garden was also empty.

In the pool, the water froze like a bluish mirror. So smooth and motionless that Pavlysh wanted to break this stillness. He put his hand in his pocket. Pavlysh always has something extra in his pockets. Fingers found a metal ball. Pavlysh threw him into the pool. The mirror shuddered, splashed with a column of water and ran in circles, licking the sides of the pool.

That's better.

Low soft sofas stretched in brackets around the pool. Pavlysh jumped on the sofa with a swing, sat awkwardly on a bag of cassettes that he dragged from the library. The sofa came to life, trying to fit Pavlysh's body.

Pavlysh imagined that he was on the Nautilus. In it, somewhere in the bowels, lives its last inhabitant, the old captain Nemo.

Or maybe it's "Mary Celeste"? An unexpected disaster struck the schooner. For some reason, everyone left the ship, every last person. And the pot on the stove is still warm.

No, he's on a desert island. Here it is, a dark forest, behind a glass wall. High on the right in the wall is a gray circle. Patch.

When Pavlysh was not yet in the world, a meteorite landed in the Outer Garden of Antey. It happens with ships. Though they thought about the meteorite protection of Antey the best minds Earth - not a single crumb of matter should have touched the ship: the price is too high - nevertheless, sixty years ago, the Antey fell into a powerful meteor shower. So powerful that one of the stones reached the ship.

Writer Kir Bulychev is known for his fantastic works that immerse readers in the world space adventure. One of the books in the Pavlysh series is The Village.

The Polus spacecraft, traveling in space, is forced to land on an unknown planet at the edge of the universe due to a breakdown. The ship's engine is damaged, and its fuel is radioactive, which is why people urgently need to leave the ship. A group of forty people who were on the ship go to the valley. The planet turns out to be uninhabited, you have to adapt to new conditions. This is how the Village is formed.

After 17 years, out of forty people, only twelve remain; it turned out to be difficult to adapt to an alien biosphere. During this time, 13 children have been born, who better tolerate the conditions of this unknown planet. Unfortunately, these children have not seen the Earth, many even question its existence. But those who remember her want to return to their home planet.

Survival on this planet is a difficult task. If you stay here, then people will degrade. Children born here will be more like Mowgli. The Villagers sent expeditions to the ship in the hope that the radiation had subsided so that supplies could be found there. But for 17 years they never managed to do it. The radiation was too strong and people died. They decide to equip a third expedition, to which they send more adapted children and one adult. Perhaps they will have a chance to be saved.

Village. Thirteen years of travel. great spirit and fugitives. White dress Cinderella

Part one

Chapter first

It was damp in the house, midges were crowding around the lamp, they should have been extinguished long ago, mother, of course, forgot, but it was raining outside, semi-darkness. Oleg was lying on the bunk - he had just woken up. At night, he guarded the village: he chased jackals, they climbed to the barn in a whole flock, they almost pulled themselves up. There was emptiness and ordinaryness in the body, although he expected excitement from himself, maybe fear. After all, fifty-fifty - you will return or you will not return. And if fifty squared? There must be a pattern, there must be tables, otherwise you always reinvent the wheel. By the way, everyone was going to ask the old man what a bicycle is. Paradox. There is no bicycle, and the Old One reproaches them, without thinking about the meaning of the phrase.

Mother coughed in the kitchen. She appears to be at home.

Why didn't you go? - he asked.

Awoke? Do you want soup? I warmed up.

And who went for mushrooms?

Mariana with Dick.

Maybe one of the guys got involved.

Could wake up, call. Maryana did not promise, but it would be natural if she called.

There is no desire.

If the rains do not end, - said the mother, - the cucumbers will not ripen before the cold weather. Everything will grow moldy.

Mother entered the room, dispersed the midge with her palm, blew out the lamp. Oleg looked at the ceiling. The yellow spot of mold has increased, changed shape. Just yesterday it looked like Vaitkus's profile: a nose with potatoes. And today the nose is swollen, as if stung by a wasp, and the forehead arched in a hump. Dick is not interested in the forest. Why should he collect mushrooms? He is a hunter, a steppe man, he himself always spoke.

There are a lot of midges, - the mother dropped, - it’s cold for her in the forest.

Find someone to pity.

The house was divided in half, on the other half lived the Old and the Durov twins. He took them to himself when the elders died. The twins have always been ill: one will recover, the other will catch a cold.

If not for their nightly whining, Oleg would never have agreed to be on duty at night. And now you could hear them whimpering in unison. Indistinct, distant, familiar as the wind, the monologue of the Old One broke off, the bench creaked. The old one went to the kitchen, and his students immediately began to roar.

And where do you go? - said the mother. - You won't get there! It's good if you come back whole!

Now my mother is crying. She cries a lot now. At night, she mumbles, tosses and turns, then begins to cry quietly - you can guess, because she sniffs. Or starts whispering like a spell: “I can't, I can't take it anymore! Let me die better ... "Oleg, if he hears, freezes: to show that he is not sleeping is ashamed, as if he spied something that cannot be seen. Oleg is ashamed to confess, but he does not feel sorry for his mother. She cries about what Oleg does not have. She cries about countries that cannot be seen, about people who were not here. Oleg does not remember a different mother - only the same as today. A thin, wiry woman, her piebald, straight hair pulled back in a bun, but it always falls out and falls in heavy strands along her cheeks, and the mother blows on them to remove them from her face. The face is red, pockmarked with tumbleweed, there are dark bags under the eyes, and the eyes themselves are too light, as if faded. The mother sits at the table, her callused hands outstretched with hard palms down. Well, cry, what are you? Now he will get a photo ... that's right, she pushed the box towards her, opens it, takes out a photo.

Behind the wall, the Old One persuades the twins to eat. The twins whimper. Pupils chirp, help the Old One feed the kids. Well, as if the most ordinary day, as if nothing had happened. What are they doing in the forest? Soon noon. Leave for lunch, it's time for them to come back. You never know what can happen to people in the forest?

The mother looks at the photo. She and her father are there. Oleg saw this photo a thousand times and tried to guess the resemblance to his father. And I couldn't. The father is blond, curly-haired, his lips are full, his chin is forked forward. Smiling. Mother says he was always smiling. Here Oleg and his mother are more similar, not with today, but with the one in the photo next to his father. Black straight hair and thin lips. Wide, round, arched eyebrows, under them bright blue eyes. And white skin with a strong blush. Oleg also blushes easily. And his lips are thin, and his hair is black, like his mother in the photograph. Father and mother are young and very cheerful. And bright. The father is in a uniform, and the mother is in a shoulderless dress. It's called a sundress. Then, twenty years ago, Oleg was not there yet. And sixteen years ago he already was.

Bulychev reveals new facets of his work for me. I didn’t even suspect that the author of numerous children’s books, positive, funny and satirical literature could have such serious and powerful stories in terms of intensity of passions. This is not the author I know, or rather the one, but his characters suddenly matured a lot, faced with the harsh hardships and unpredictable dangers of a wild alien world.

Everything you need to know about the plot, in order to decide whether this topic is close to you as a reader, will fit in a brief annotation. In the indefinitely distant future space expedition crashed and crash-landed on an unknown planet. The few survivors hurried to leave the ship, which had become a deadly hotbed due to the release of radionuclides. The inhospitable planet met the aliens with a cold climate and bristled with all representatives of the animal and plant world. Despite all the difficulties, about two dozen people found their shelter on a piece of land, where they founded the Village. Balancing on the brink of starvation and extinction, people have not abandoned hope for the future. A younger generation has already appeared, more adapted to the dangers that lie in wait behind the wooden palisade. The aged members of the expedition are doing their best to improve their way of life, to pass on to their children the knowledge that they themselves still possess, and most importantly, to prevent degradation, which will nullify the results of thousands and thousands of years of evolution. That's all the introductory, look for the rest in the source.

Above, only the outer shell, or, if you like, the background is described. Agree, the topic is not new and played out countless times in literature and cinema. But there is something special about this book that made The Village stand out for me among many other "brothers on the topic." And the point is not at all in pride in the domestic manufacturer, but precisely in the fact that O invested in this book Kir Bulychev. If you systematize the advantages, then I would single out three categories.

The first category is descriptive. The planet is depicted impressively. Everything, from the weather, the image of the forest and the length of the seasons, to the fauna so unlike Earth, hiding behind the labels of the names we are used to, captivates the reader. Mobile and predatory plants, striving to seize, bite, burn and prick, strange aggressive animals, relentless in their hunt for earthlings, mysterious sounds and smells - this is such a filled world that you can simply dissolve in it. The alienness and uniqueness of everything that we see through the eyes of the characters makes us fear and distrust the planet, avoid contact with it, but at the same time it awakens the spirit of research, and curiosity leads deeper into the thicket, away from last stronghold civilization. And in the militant and hostile nature, one feels a special beauty and elegance, a little wild and frightening, but beautiful and perfect.

The second advantage is the characters, the engines of the plot. So different from each other, wayward and versatile, purposeful and attracted by their own interests, desires, but at the same time united and conscious. Of course not ideal people, and heroes often make mistakes, maybe even too often. But who will judge a lot or a little, an ordinary earthling has to make mistakes in our Everyday life, comfortable, rife with excesses, numerous benefits and protection social institutions? Here, people do not just make mistakes, they immediately reap the fruits of their actions, and each thoughtless or unsuccessful act is very costly for one person and the entire settlement.

Main characters- these are the older representatives of the new generation, who have already grown up here, after the crash. They took upon themselves the burden of worries about the survival and subsistence of the Village. But each of them goes their own way. Some characters are already almost "wild", that is, they belong more to this world, they have the strength, endurance, dexterity and instinct of a hunter necessary for survival. Others still keep in touch with the elderly and try to learn, to know the unknown and lost, mysterious and fairy world called Planet Earth.

But the most important thing lies not in the similarities, and not in the differences, but in the fact that you want to believe the author. It is very easy to imagine oneself as one of the participants in the events, it is even easier to feel love and sympathy for each of them, turning a blind eye to all their shortcomings and outbursts of selfishness. A few chapters later, I can't believe it's just book characters seems to be real people and you know or knew them before. That is why you take all their joys and sorrows to heart, you feel involved and responsible in relation to this small community. And this involvement can cause great pain. The pain of loss and other people's suffering. No, the book is not at all a work in the spirit of Shakespeare or Martin, where "everyone died", but this is not necessary, because Bulychev plays a different instrument. The main thing in this world is hope, coordination of actions and unwillingness to give up. But what if the reader sees that all plans are about to go to waste and everything will end in tragedy? And that's it. The Village will die out together with active old people and restless children. That's why the tension grabs you at the beginning of the book, and doesn't let go until the very end. Very, very difficult.

And finally the third. Kir Bulychev puts the most ordinary truth into the words of his heroes. The truth about life, about people, about relationships and values, both universal and personal. His characters know perfectly well what duty is, what responsibility is. And although due to age and temperament, some go through rebellion, but deep down they always remain faithful to their neighbors. And all the inhabitants are close, without exception. Mutual assistance and trust become the basic principles of survival. And simple unpretentious love, the ability to see the future and continuation in children show that people can go through a lot and remain human if they remember the past, live in the present and think about the future. History, language, sciences and all-all-all knowledge must be multiplied, preserved and passed on from one generation to another. And at every moment of time it is worth remembering that despite all the achievements and victories won, people always remain people, with their own advantages and disadvantages, love and hatred, kindness and anger, successes and failures. That is why it is important to be able to humble pride and arrogance, because the world will always have enough surprises and challenges that fate can bring down on a Human. You need to be ready for everything.

Here is my village, here is my home. (With)

The theme of shipwreck and survival is quite popular in literature. Whether they travel on a sailboat or on a spaceship - it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that the heroes get into difficult situation and forced to survive by all means.

Kira Bulychev's novel "The Village" is no exception to general rule. His heroes, scientists, engineers, their families flew to the space station, but crashed and ended up on an inhospitable planet. They are forced to flee the ship due to radiation danger and settle on the edge of the forest, which both kills and makes it possible to survive. But, unlike other novels, Bulychev's heroes not only survive, they also try not to degrade, to preserve the knowledge that was available to them at the time of the ship's death. There were children on the ship, then more were born and adults organize a school, trying to pass on their knowledge to them.

The characters of the novel are living people, with all the advantages and disadvantages. There are no template glossy heroes, wise elders or beautiful maidens. Between them there are disputes, conflicts, misunderstandings. One of the main characters is Old. This is the same person through whose efforts knowledge is mainly preserved. But he himself is aware of the futility of his efforts to prevent the village from sliding into a primitive state. The whole hope of the settlers is based on the fact that the older generation will return to the ship and give a signal for help, they will be found and taken from this planet. What happens if help doesn't come? If the settlers are forever doomed to live on this planet? Who needs knowledge here? earth history? What nonsense the drawings will seem nuclear reactor those who do not even have a microscope? An example is a calendar. The first settlers made a calendar, they marked the time of their stay on the planet with notches on the pillars. But for the new generation, this calendar loses its meaning. The terrestrial chronology, especially the division into seasons, does not correlate well with local conditions. In a few generations, the meaning of the earthly calendar will be lost, and the notched pillars will most likely become just a monument, a fetish, an object of religious worship. The old one understands this very well, so all efforts are aimed at getting to the ship.

While reading, I remembered the novel from Harrison's Jason din Alt trilogy, The Ethicist. There, the priests prayed to sulfuric acid and a generator that somehow got into their world.

It is interesting to compare Dick and Oleg. Dick already belongs more to this world than to the earthly one, while Oleg dreams of the Earth more. But in order to succeed, they need to work together, otherwise nothing will work. Children of settlers adapt to life on the planet much easier than parents who are not ready to live on this earth, many of them are only “living out their lives”.

With the advent of a station from Earth on the planet, everything changes. Slow events and leisurely descriptions of the life of the village are replaced by desperate adventures. There are no more philosophical conversations, there are only actions twisted into an incredible knot. The twists and turns of the plot do not let you breathe easy.
The last few pages even brought me to tears.

All this levels out some flaws in the narrative, and some unconvincing characters who arrived from Earth.

The book is excellent for teenagers.

After reading the novel, this is what I thought. What if ancient civilizations, for example, the Maya or the Incas, are the descendants of such “shipwrecked” ones? Almost all knowledge, technologies were lost, forgotten, some completely normal meaningful actions degenerated into bloody rituals, and we were left with only the Mayan stone calendar and strange pictures in the Nazca desert?

Waiting is always bad, especially when you don’t know how the wait will end, but for some reason we are always waiting for something.

How strange it happens in life, well, I don’t like science fiction, and I was convinced of this for many years. And now a colleague (in anticipation of the meeting) reads the book with great pleasure, and advises it to me. The book looks unprepossessing, especially since it was published by a children's publishing house, and besides, it's fantastic. But I succumb to her emotions and start reading, and get carried away so much that I forget that this is a fiction, that this was not and cannot be. I feel like a resident of the village along with Oleg and Dick, Stary and Maryana, Kazik and Sergeev, Liz and a few other residents. Who are these people, where did they come from, and how do they live.
Nearly twenty years ago, the research spacecraft Polyus crashed on landing on this planet, and the survivors had to seek shelter from a radiation leak after the accident. This is how this small village arose, with several crooked houses. How much they had to endure, but they had a goal to return to earth. Each person in the village has his own character, his positive and negative qualities and dignity. All the characters appear before us so alive and real. The author raises questions in the book that are not at all childish (this is to the fact that it seems like a children's book), how to preserve humanity in such conditions, not to allow anyone to degenerate. They all work from little to great, they all have their own responsibilities. The elders taught the children, without books, without notebooks, drawing with a stick on the ground, and the children had more desire to learn than those with modern gadgets. For children, the stories of adults about a distant homeland seem like fairy tales, and even the return of everyone to Earth is just a fantasy (it’s funny to write about fantasy book).
The description of an unusually colorful alien world with a peculiar flora and fauna is very attractive. Sometimes goosebumps just from the description of these inexplicable creatures that people have to face.
It is curious that the earthlings call the animals and plants they meet with earthly names based on weak similarity, and it doesn’t bother anyone that the “goat” has a green color with a shell, and the “mushrooms” strive to escape from the unlucky mushroom picker and hide .. They have their own “mustangs” ”, “boars” and “bears”. And the plants are “dandelions”, which are better not to blow on, trees that resemble a mountain. All this is very picturesque and original.
Here is just one such creature "... a creature resembling a crab, from which the shell was removed and a trunk was fitted in front .... On the sides of the trunk, below the senseless tin eyes, the reptile had holes covered with membranes ... The membranes trembled a little, and Kazik intuitively realized that it was precisely them .. Therefore, when the membranes opened and two jets of sticky yellow liquid rushed out of the holes hidden by them, Kazik was ready for this". This bastard was called Cleanspitter and, having caught it, they used its sticky liquid.
Many of the inhabitants are afraid that they will not be able to get out of here, and that in a few generations, people on this planet will run wild and will never return to Earth.
I finished reading the last pages in excitement, I was very worried about the characters (even tears appeared), I was surprised at myself - this is fiction, but the author was able to immerse me in this atmosphere and his characters charmed me to such an extent that I began to worry about them, like for people close to me.
I think now I will continue my acquaintance with Kir Bulychev and his works, and I will no longer be able to categorically say that science fiction is not for me.
If you are interested to know how this story ended, then open the book and read. You should definitely like it.
