Short story

The founder of BROEN, Paul Broen, was an innovator, creative and visionary entrepreneur. His ideas became the basis for BROEN and set the standard for the entire industry.
Paul Broen was working as an engineer at the Frederiksberg swimming pool in Denmark in 1934 and noticed that huge amounts of hot water were wasted when visitors took a shower. He developed PARCEO, a shower apparatus that provided a moderate flow of water in the amount necessary for washing and at the same time protected the pool from unreasonably high heating costs.
Paul Broen's interest in energy-saving technologies was especially important in the post-war era - an era of limited resources, when people saved wherever possible. So Paul Broen came up with the stop valve for cisterns. We can still find this extremely effective invention in all toilets to this day.
In 1948, Paul Broen and his son Bjarne Broen created the company Nordisk Armatur in a rented basement and with a total staff of six people. In 1953, Broen left his job as an engineer in favor of a full-time position as the head of this company - now it has become known as BROEN Armatur. It was an industrial company that developed plumbing fittings and valves in the 1950s - including the renowned BROEN BOSS® product line and the BALLOFIX® ball valve.
BROEN Armatur's experience in the 1950s and positive growth in 1959 saw the company grow to 65 employees and, after several company relocations in Zeeland, Paul Broen decided to leave the management of the company to his son Bjarne Broen in 1960.
Bjarne Broen took the lead in 1964 and moved the company's headquarters to its current address in Assens on the island of Funen. The reason was only that it was proposed to create favorable conditions in the area, and also Bjarne Broen wanted to ensure the possibility of growth in conditions where skilled workers could be satisfied. Bjarne Broen's knowledge and experience, as well as his visionary thinking, were used to create, for example, LAB - an emergency shower.
Broen was also among the first to develop a district heating system in Denmark in the 1970s, and began to produce ball valves of unprecedented sizes, now they are called BALLOMAX ® - district heating valves. BROEN Armatur renamed in 1970, BROEN A/S.
Bjarne Broen has gone beyond product development. He also thought about the employees. Already in 1960, rotation was introduced to ensure production flexibility and the development of competencies and variations for employees. Both the vision and the pioneering spirit still exist. BROEN continues to develop energy efficient solutions that optimize the use of natural resources.
