ACE

This London group was formed in December 1972. The initiators of the project were Alan "Bam" King (b. September 18, 1946; guitar, vocals) and Phil Harris (b. July 18, 1948; guitar). The team performed uncomplicated pub-rock, but unlike most colleagues in the workshop, they preferred not three-chord boogie or country rock, but gravitated towards soul and rhythm and blues, which was primarily provided by Carrack's soulful vocals. The musicians performed in beer bars and small clubs and in a year and a half gained a certain contingent of their fans.

During this time, "Ace" changed drummers twice - first with Chico Greenwood (ex-"Jasper"), and then with Fran Byrne (b. March 17, 1948, Ireland; ex-"Bees Make Honey"). The group's affairs were neither shaky nor rolly, until one day she was invited to open for "Hawkwind". During these tours, producer John Anthony ("Genesis", "Queen") became interested in the team, who arranged for the "aces" a contract with the recently appeared firm "Anchor Records". Played mainly on a relaxed basis, the debut album was an unexpected breakthrough for "Ace" thanks to the catchy song "How Long". This composition was inspired by Comer's short departure, during which he managed to play in the "Sutherland Brothers" and "Quiver", but for some reason many listeners perceived it as an ode to a failed love affair.

Anyway, released as a single, the song became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK, "How Long" hit the Top 20, and in the US climbed all the way to number three, pushing the album that gave birth to it close to the top ten.

A year later, "Ace" together with the same Anthony released the second disc, recorded with the participation of guest guitarist Rusty Young. The album, like its predecessor, was equipped with a soft groove, but the public reacted to this release rather coolly. The fiasco was attributed to declining interest in pub rock in general, and "Time For Another" ended up only at the bottom of the second 100 Billboard lists. In early 1976 Harris left the band and was replaced by John Woodhead. Having skated an unsuccessful tour in the company with "Yes", the team moved to America. The musicians hoped that the local audience would react better to their work, but this did not happen. In 1977, the team, led by producer Trevor Lawrence, recorded their last album.

The brass section was involved in its creation, and even Lawrence himself performed the parts of the trombone and tenor saxophone. Unfortunately, "No Strings", in which Paul's soul vocals came to the fore, did not become a revelation for Americans, and "Ace" never caught up with commercial success. Shortly after the release of the album, the team was disbanded, and Comer, Byrne and Carrack went to Frankie Miller, and later the last of them made a good solo career.

Korean group AOA is a collective that consists of eight members. They work in the label FNC Ent. If you decipher the name and translate it, it will mean "the best of angels." An interesting feature group is that they are divided into two separate teams - AOA Black and AOA White.
