Lubera - an informal youth movement that appeared at the beginning of "perestroika" (1986-89). The name comes from the city of Lyubertsy near Moscow. Luberas were ordinary hooligans who hid behind the "idea" of fighting against other "informals" (hippies, punks, metalheads), allegedly subject to the "pernicious influence of the West." Soon the word "luber" became a household word and equivalent to the concept of "gopnik".
