The headliners of the fourth "Jazz Seasons" will be Ambrose Akinmusire (USA), Jonah Nilsson (OF DIRTY LOOPS / Sweden), Petr Vostokov's Big Jazz Orchestra, VAN QUARTET (Armenia), as well as Igor Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra. In addition, Leonid & Friends Group, Elliott (vocals/USA) & Oleg Butman Quartet, Hayk Grigoryan Quintet, Number Pi Group, Ilya Morozov and Victoria Kaunova Sextet will present their work at the festival.

On July 7, on the first day of the festival, the inimitable vocalist and pianist from Sweden, Jonah Nilsson (Dirty Loops), will perform. A few years ago, Jonah did what millions of musicians dream of - became world famous in just 1 night! As part of the Dirty Loops group, he performed several cover versions of hits that brought the project millions of views on YouTube and worldwide fame. Today, Maroon 5 soloist Adam Levine, singers Brian McKnight, Rodney Jerkins, Dallas Austin, and even Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones are among the musician's fans! Also on July 7, the group "Leonid & friends", singer Elliott (USA) and the Oleg Butman Quartet, the Hayk Grigoryan Quintet will perform on the main summer jazz stage of the Moscow Region. On the same evening, the guests of the festival will be transported to the Golden era of "jazz fever", which will be recreated for them by the Big Jazz Orchestra of Peter Vostokov.

On July 8, the festival program will amaze even the most sophisticated listeners with a variety of styles! On the second day at the Jazz Seasons, the ethno-jazz project Van Quartet (Armenia), a young, ambitious team united by the banner of independent music "Number of Pi", the Sextet of Ilya Morozov and Victoria Kaunova, as well as the quartet of the Blue Note label resident, the winner of two major jazz competitions named after Thelonious Monk and Carmine Caruso, one of the most important musicians of our time Ambrose Akinmusir (USA). The second day will end with a performance by the world famous Moscow Jazz Orchestra conducted by Igor Butman.

The International Jazz Seasons Festival in Gorki Leninskiye celebrates its first Anniversary!


On July 6 and 7, 2019, the V, anniversary, International Festival of Igor Butman "Jazz Seasons" will be held in the Gorki Leninskiye Museum-Reserve. This year the event will again bring together dozens of Russian and foreign jazz musicians and several thousand spectators.

In 2018, Jazz Seasons entered the TOP-10 of the best jazz open-air festivals in Russia.

The headliners of 2019 will be world-famous trumpeter and conceptualist Christian Scott, American organist Larry Goldings and his trio, as well as festival residents Igor Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra.

Christian Scott, The New York trumpeter, originally from New Orleans, is one of the brightest musicians to have appeared on the jazz scene in the last few years. His debut CD, Rewind That, was released on Concord Records in 2006 and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. The JazzTimes magazine called Christian "The God of the Young Jazz Movement". His music is renowned as a pioneering manifesto focused on taking as many musical forms, cultures and dialects as possible and combining them into a single fresh, resonant, creative improvised concept.

In 2017, Christian released a series of albums dedicated to the centennial anniversary of the release of the first jazz records. The final album of the series, The Emancipation Procrastination, was nominated for a Grammy for "Best Contemporary Instrumental Album".

Organist and pianist since 1991 Larry Goldings, guitar player Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart, described by The New York Times as "the best organ trio of the last decade", hold a special place in the rich history of jazz. Their adventurous eclecticism forms a special musical realm that easily conveys all the depth, lyrics and complexity of their author's compositions. Larry Goldings has collaborated with such leading pop and jazz artists as Maceo Parker, Tracey Chapman, James Taylor, Jim Hall, Herbie Hancock, John Scofield and Charlie Hayden, and is well known as a film composer. Peter Bernstein has been called "the most respected jazz guitarist of his generation" and his work with jazz greats such as Sonny Rollins, Jim Hall, Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau is a testament to this. Known for his melodic and polyrhythmic complexity, drummer Bill Stewart has played with Joe Lovano, Dave Holland, Maceo Parker, and has long collaborated with John Scofield.

Igor Butman is rightfully considered the main ambassador of Russian jazz art on the world stage. In 1999 he founded his famous Moscow Jazz Orchestra, which over the 20 years of its existence has established itself as one of the leading orchestras in the world and the main catalyst for the development of jazz art in Russia. For twenty years, musicians have regularly represented our country at the most prestigious festivals in Europe, Asia and America. In October 2017, the orchestra became the headliner of the World Festival of Youth and Students. In 2018, the Big Band became the first orchestra in the world to perform at the world's main jazz event - the All-Star Global Concert of International Jazz Day. In the past five years alone, the Orchestra, called by the famous JazzTimes magazine a "constellation of virtuosos", has given more than 500 concerts in Russia, and has also repeatedly performed in South Korea, India, China, Italy, Canada, France, Great Britain, Latvia, Germany and the USA . The ancient estate of Gorki in the south-east of the near Moscow region, near the present city of Vidnoye, was owned by powerful merchant families in the century before last - the last owner was the widow of the industrialist Savva Morozov. After the revolution of 1917, the estate was nationalized and became the suburban residence of the new authorities. In the early 1920s the last months of the life of the chairman of the Council of People's Commissars Vladimir Ulyanov, known to the whole world under the party nickname "Lenin", passed here. And since 2015, a jazz festival has been held here every summer.
