Which manufacturer of drawing kits to choose? You will not find a definite answer in this article. It would be wrong to advise you. Choose your coloring according to the plot (landscape, portrait or still life). Choose what you want to draw in the end. What do you like more -
coloring on cardboard or canvas, with or without blending, you will only know in the process of coloring. Carrying out work on different materials, you enrich your creative experience and get new impressions.

Coloring by numbers can be bought on various bases - on cardboard and on canvas.

Leading manufacturers coloring pages on cardboard it is customary to consider such companies as SCHIPPER (Germany), PLAID (USA) and DIMENSIONS (USA).

In the SCHIPPER sets you will find bright, original scenes with paints of excellent glossy effect - you don't even need a top coat.

PLAID kits are finely detailed and difficult for beginners, requiring painstaking and patient work.

The DIMENSIONS sets are characterized by mixing colors and careful drawing of details, which gives the finished work the effect of a photograph.

These are mainly Chinese companies such as HOBBART, MENGLEI, ITESO, COLOR-KIT, PAINTBOY, SNOW WHITE.

There are no special differences between Chinese manufacturers. Choose the plot you like and color. All Chinese kits are completed with paints in jars in vacuum packaging, except for HOBBART kits. IN latest paint are placed in airtight tubes, thanks to which it was possible to solve the problem with the drying of the paint! Sometimes different manufacturers have the same plots for drawing. In this case, information about the number of colors in the set will help you make a choice in favor of one or another manufacturer (the more colors, the more carefully the plot of the picture will be drawn).

Which painting to choose - on canvas or cardboard?

The age old beginner question. Various manufacturers offer coloring pages either on cardboard or canvas, with or without a stretcher.

Coloring pages on cardboard

It is very convenient to draw on cardboard, so it will be easier to learn on cardboard-based sets, because the borders and color numbers are clearly visible. The paint lays down evenly on the cardboard and is perfectly absorbed, the drawing is bright and fresh. To give volume to your work, some segments need to be painted over with several layers.

It is easy to pick up ready-made photo frames for coloring pages on a cardboard basis.

Coloring on canvas

Painting by numbers on a canvas, at first glance, seems to be a more complicated process. Since the canvas is a fabric, the strokes will not lay down as smoothly as on cardboard, and the paint will be absorbed unevenly. You may need to apply several layers of paint, which will give some volume to the picture, and the color on the canvas will turn out to be deeper and more saturated. But when working with a canvas, you will get an indescribable pleasure, the further you draw, the more exciting this process will seem to you. And the result will be excellent, like a picture of a real artist. Try it and you will forever remain a fan of this genre!

The canvas in the painting sets is rolled up or already fixed on a stretcher. This is a very important point, because the stretcher is the basis for stretching the canvas. The thickness of the paintings on the canvas is much greater precisely due to the stretcher.

For some manufacturers, such as MENGLEI and HOBBART, the subframe in the kit is disassembled or not always provided in the kit (in this case, it can be picked up at a frame shop or art store). In the event that the stretcher is disassembled, studs are supplied separately in the kit, with the help of which the canvas is fixed on the stretcher.

Let's talk briefly how to assemble a subframe. The slats of the stretcher must be inserted into each other's puzzles, and then outline the location of the canvas. To do this, lay the canvas on a flat surface with the pattern up, and put a stretcher on top of it. Then mark with a pencil (on reverse side canvas!) all 4 of its corners.

To better stretch the canvas on the stretcher, you can moisten it with a damp cloth, then turn the pattern down, and put the stretcher on top.

After that, you can attach the canvas to the stretcher with the studs supplied in the kit. And this step should be done correctly. At first, it is easier to wrap canvas around one side of the stretcher and drive in studs around the edges and in the center. Then you should stretch the canvas on the opposite side of the stretcher and fix it again with studs. Do the same with the remaining two sides of the subframe.

Don't forget to set aside 4 studs to secure the corners! It is better to fix the corners at the very end.

The canvas painting can be hung on the wall right away because it looks great even without a frame. You can simply color the canvas from the ends to make the picture look complete - paint while continuing the main drawing. If desired, you can arrange a picture in a baguette.

What is included in the drawing kits?

So, you have chosen a plot for coloring. Let's see what the paint by numbers kit consists of.

All sets without exception include:

  1. Canvas or cardboard with a pattern and numbers printed on it.
  2. Numbered jars of paints.
  3. One to three brushes, depending on the set.
  4. Instruction.
  5. Checklist for verification.
  6. The canvas coloring kit includes a mount.

Footnotes with numbers show colorization colors small parts.

Basic materials and tools for drawing

About paints

Most coloring by numbers both on canvas and on cardboard are completed with acrylic paints. We must not forget that such paints dry very quickly. Be sure to close the paint jars tightly after painting! If the paint dries, it will not be possible to wash off and dilute it in a jar.

Acrylic paints are non-toxic, resistant to light, very bright, completely ready for use. The paints in the jar must be mixed before staining. If the paint looks thick, then it can always be diluted with a drop of water and mixed a little or use a special thinner to acrylic paints which is purchased separately.

Earlier it was noted that in the HOBBART kits, the paints are poured into tubes. They come with empty jars with tight lids and stickers with the color number of each paint.

Before you start painting, mark the jar with a sticker, then open the tube and squeeze a small amount of paint into the jar. You can always add paint to the jar as needed. Paints in tubes are stored much better and longer.

Make sure that the markings on the tube and jar match! This will help you not to mix up the colors in the process of drawing!

If all areas of work indicated by one number are painted over sequentially, then the paint will not dry out ahead of time. Sometimes it happens that numbers and contours show through the light colors of colors. You can paint over these areas with a second coat to paint over them.

Remember, light and transparent brilliant colors are applied in several layers.

You can pre-paint over the numbers and contours with white paint and only then desired color. In this way, translucent numbers and contours will also be hidden.

brushes

The kits on cardboard include one brush. In sets on canvas - two, three or more, depending on the size of the picture (several thin round brushes of different sizes and a small flat brush). The brushes are always synthetic. It is convenient to draw small details with round thin brushes, and large areas of the background with flat ones.

Brushes after work have to be washed very carefully, because if the acrylic paint has dried up, the brush can no longer be washed with any solvent.

To make the brush last longer, rinse it in water as often as possible, even if you paint with the same color. Rinse the bristle of the brush well and remove the dried paint at the base of the bristle. These simple tricks will help you keep the brush in good quality throughout the drawing process.

Do you need varnish?

The varnish will protect the brightness of the colors of your painting from exposure to sunlight, give completeness and professionalism to your work.

Lacquer for the final design of the picture, matte or glossy, is purchased separately.

A picture painted with acrylic paints does not need to be varnished. However, if you are going to place the painting on a heavily lit wall, matte acrylic lacquer for a long time will preserve the brightness of the colors of the picture. In order to add completeness to the painted picture, it is better to cover it with a glossy varnish.

All the subtleties of the coloring process

Positive emotions from coloring, comparable only to a visit art gallery and the joy of communicating with the masterpieces of painting, would be impossible without knowing some of the moments that accompany the creation of paintings by numbers.

Mixing paints

If you do not need to mix paints in your set, you paint the picture with ready-made paints of the desired color, comparing their numbers with the details of the picture. But some manufacturers suggest you mix paints to get subtle shades. These are Dimensions (USA), KSG (UK), Royal & Langnickel (UK) and many others.

Definitely, when mixing colors, each artist gets his own, unique shades. This is a great example of the individualization of paintings, great opportunities for creative experiments!

Difficulty level

If internally you are not yet ready for experiments with shades, you should pay attention to the complexity of the execution of the canvas. Difficulty is indicated on the box with asterisks: the more stars, the more difficult the work, the more small details, and the more time you have to spend on coloring.

Five stars, for example, is a canvas of high difficulty. Four stars mean that there are many small segments on the canvas, etc.

Beginners and people with low vision should, for starters, choose sets with two or three stars.

HOBBART set with three stars

For children, coloring pages with one or two stars and a small size are more suitable so that the child has time to finish coloring before he gets tired.

Let's start drawing!

Special workplace not required to work. You can use a floor or tabletop easel, a smooth table surface, or simply paint your set in your hands, as long as you feel comfortable.

The coloring kits come with everything you need, the only thing you need is newspaper or tablecloth to protect the surface, a cup of water, a palette to mix paints (if your coloring choice is to mix) and patience.

Instructions for a coloring set without mixing paints are not needed. You just take a jar of paint of any number, find this color in the picture and start painting with any strokes, at any speed, as you think is most convenient. The main thing - do not let the paints dry in the jar!

Over time, you will develop your own coloring style. Pictures can be painted in any way:

  • by numbers, starting with paint No. 1, 2 and further;
  • by color, starting with light and then darker;
  • from the top left corner;
  • from anywhere in the picture.

Check your steps against the attached checklist and the sample of the finished work that you will find on the box of your kit.

Of course, the painting you make may differ from the original in the manufacturer's photograph. But maybe that's where creativity lies. After all, you can always add something of your own to the coloring - and the result will be beautiful in any case!

Job storage

Special storage of work in the process of coloring is not required. If you can't finish your work yet, just put all the components of the kit in the box, first dropping a little water on the surface of each paint (do not mix it!!!) and tightly close the jars. Acrylic paints can be stored for up to several months if protected from moisture and temperature changes. But do not delay the completion of the work for years, if the acrylic paints completely dry out, then it will not be possible to restore them. You will have to complete the paintings with a simple selection of colors in an art store.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes while coloring. To prevent this, the kits always include a checklist with which you can always check which paint to use. If you do paint with the wrong paint, just wait for it to dry completely and thickly apply a different color of paint on top of it.

And, of course, think in advance about the place where your painting will be located at the end of the work. How will the piece harmonize with your interior and its elements?

The picture is ready and can be framed with a suitable frame or, if your picture is painted on canvas, just hang it on the wall. The decorated picture will undoubtedly become an attractive decoration of your interior, it will never cease to amaze your friends and relatives. Also, she can become original gift your loved ones!

To prevent sudden changes in humidity and temperature from deforming the stretcher and weakening the tension of the canvas, store the picture only in a dry place at room temperature.

Trying to paint a picture by numbers, you will feel like professional artist! Even if it is only one picture, you will definitely have a reason to be proud!

"Cross" will not advise bad! :)

HOW TO DRAW A PICTURE BY NUMBERS CORRECTLY

Choose a well-lit workplace! Prepare paints, brushes, a numbered canvas, a glass of water, paper towels to dry the brushes, and toothpicks to stir the paints.

1. Paint preparation.

Acrylic- quick-drying paint. If you are not going to draw now - do not open the jars. The factory packaging allows them to be stored almost indefinitely, but after opening their service life is significantly reduced. If you have never tried this type of art - buy a small painting, as at first you will need some time to practice painting by numbers.

The colors are already numbered and ready to go, you don't need to mix them. The numbers on the cans of paint match the numbers on the outlines on the canvas. Open paint bottles carefully, without using force - this may damage the bottle. To prevent the ink from drying out, always open only the ink you really need. this moment. Acrylic paints will give the picture a special brightness and juiciness. First, draw a contour around large details using a thin brush. Then paint over with a thicker brush. If numbers and lines are visible, cover them with several coats of paint. dark colors paint over light colors better.

If during the process of coloring the paints have thickened a little, you can add a few drops of water, this does not affect their properties. But if they are completely dried up - it is impossible to restore them!

Paints are stored for a minimum of 12 weeks after opening, subject to certain rules.

Be sure to close the jars tightly and properly, cleaning the edges of dried paint (it can interfere with the tight fit of the lid)

In hard-to-reach places, use a toothpick to clean

In case of long breaks in coloring, carefully cleaned and tightly closed jars, wrap in a damp cloth and pack in a plastic bag or sealed plastic container. This will protect them from drying out.

2. Coloring.

Before you start coloring, prepare a jar of water (wash the brushes), a few rags(wipe brushes, hands, table, etc.), toothpicks - stir the paints and use them to paint the smallest details. Saucer, plate or palette- for mixing paints.

3. Brushes.

In sets, depending on the manufacturer, the size and complexity of the picture, there are from one to 5 brushes. We recommend purchasing additional brushes in different sizes in advance. They are inexpensive, sold in any stationery department, but will greatly help you with coloring. And, most importantly, you can separate the brushes - some to use only for light colors, some - only for dark ones, which completely eliminates the mixing of paints when carelessly washing the brush. If you often paint by numbers, we recommend purchasing a set of acrylic paints (base colors) from art stores, which will allow you to eliminate the problem of drying paints (of course, it will take some time to select a shade) and enhance the relief of the work. However, in sets of paints it is enough for complete painting in 2-3 layers.

How to properly hold a brush.

Hold the brush properly, like a pen. For stability, put your hand on the surface and rotate the picture so that its location is convenient for you. Drawing should be comfortable for you!

Brush care secrets

In order for the brush to serve you for a long time and with high quality, you must follow the recommendations below.

The most common mistakes:

1. Do not leave the brush in a glass of water.

2. Never clean the brush with harsh chemicals.

3. Never use a brush to stir paint.

4. Don't use your fingernails to scrape off dried paint.

Proper care:

The brush consists of three parts: a handle, a metal fastener and a fleecy part.

1. After painting, immediately wipe off the remaining paint from the brush.

2. Rinse the brush in clean warm water.

3. Gently lather the brush, and then rinse it again.

4. Wipe the water off the brush with a twisting motion. Paint must not remain on the end of the metal fastener.

5. Use your fingers to shape the fuzzy part of the brush into its original shape, forming the tip.

6. Put down the brush and let it dry on its own. Do not use a heater or hair dryer!

4. Drawing order.

Pick up paint only on the very tip of the brush. It is better to dip the brush twice in a jar than to spoil the drawing by dripping on it. If, however, this happens - use wet cotton swabs to remove excess.

There is no single approach to the order in which paintings are drawn. There are several drawing techniques:

Start coloring with light tones, then paint the darker, mixed parts last. This is due to the fact that in case of an error in coloring, it is much more difficult to paint dark segments with light paint than light segments with dark paint. In other words, in order to paint over a dark segment with white paint, more layers are needed and vice versa: you can paint over a light segment with dark paint in one layer, i.e. much easier.

For the perfect picture finished painting paint over unpainted places and translucent numbers. As in art galleries, look at the picture and evaluate it from a distance of 2-3 meters.

Note to skilled artists

The painting effect can be enhanced by applying different thicknesses of paint. To do this, apply the remaining paint in a thick layer on the elements of the picture that you would like to emphasize. This will give the picture a relief effect.

5. Lacquering.

Varnish coating. You can cover the completed painting with a special varnish after a few days. There are 2 types of artistic varnishes - glossy and matte. A glossy varnish will help make the picture bright, and a matte varnish will remove glare. It is better to cover the picture with varnish with a soft brush in wide strokes. Varnish can be purchased in special stores for artists and craftsmen.

6. Frame.

By placing a picture in an appropriate beautiful frame, it will become a real masterpiece! To preserve the effect of the picture, you do not need to place it under glass. You can decorate your picture with a regular frame from self-service stores or with an exquisite frame from specialty stores or art galleries. The picture will look great without a frame if you additionally paint the end parts. Just continue drawing "around the corner" of the canvas, onto the end of the stretcher and hang as it is.

Many people have a question on what basis to buy a painting by numbers.

Canvas or cardboard??

It cannot be said that the canvas is better. Or better yet, cardboard. Let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages of both. Cardboard- it is easier to draw on it, if this is your first painting - choose cardboard. Paints fit better, paintings on cardboard are cheaper. But, if this picture hangs in a house with temperature fluctuations (for example, in a country house where you visit only in summer, yes New Year) - the cardboard may begin to deform. True, if you put it in a frame - this will not happen. Canvas on stretcher- not afraid of moisture, looks more "real", can be hung on the wall without a frame, it will look great. But. It is harder to draw, it is better to do it in a vertical position of the canvas (use an easel or build a stand from improvised materials, such as books), the paint lays down harder. If you decide, nevertheless, to use a frame, you will have to order it in a framing workshop because of the thickness.

Hello, friends! Tell me, do you have any hobby for the soul? Such that you do something, and the soul at this time sings songs and smiles) I have. And it appeared relatively recently. About a year ago, I learned what painting by numbers is. I learned and fell in love with this business deeply and for a long time.

It happened when I got a job at a small shop selling paint-by-number kits.

In general, people just don’t call them anything: coloring by numbers, and drawing by numbers. But the essence of the change of name does not change. This is a kind of creativity that allows each person to feel like a real artist.

And what questions from my dear customers I have not heard during my work in the store. In this article I want to consider the most popular of them, let's say, the top 12 questions about drawing by numbers. Suddenly, my knowledge will be useful to you. But first, let me brag) My first work) It's called "In Anticipation".

Lesson plan:

Question number 1. What is it?

These are drawing kits. Especially for those who want to draw, but do not know how. If you follow the rules, everyone will succeed. Plots may vary. There are landscapes, there are still lifes, there are portraits. You can also repeat creations famous artists, Van Gogh, for example.

The subject you have chosen is already drawn on the canvas with gray lines in the form contour drawing, each piece of which has a number. Numbers stand and on paints. If in the figure you see number one, then this piece needs to be painted over with paint number one, etc. And so, piece by piece. Something like embroidery.

Question #2: What's in the box?

In the box you will find:

  • canvas or cardboard, with a printed contour numbered pattern;
  • paints with numbers;
  • brushes;
  • paper control sheet with the same pattern as on canvas (cardboard);
  • a color reproduction of your future painting.
  • fasteners, which are screwed to the subframe with the help of small self-tapping screws, then a string is tied to them for hanging.

Also, a small sticker with a reproduction is located directly on the box. It also says on this sticker:

  1. Difficulty level.
  2. Canvas size.
  3. The number of colors.
  4. Vendor code.

Question #3. What is the difficulty level?

There are five of them. The first level is the easiest work. Fifth - the most difficult. These levels are marked with asterisks. I would call it not the level of complexity, but the level of painstaking work. The higher the level, the smaller the painted pieces. The more beautiful it is.

Question number 4. About the size.

As I said, the size of the future picture is indicated on the packaging. Sizes may vary. The smallest 10x15. Can be 20x20, 20x30, 30x30.30x40. The most popular size is 40x50.

Painting by numbers | My-shop.ru

Also on sale are diptychs, triptychs and polyptychs.

A diptych is a painting in two parts.

Triptych - of three.

A polyptych consists of four or more parts.

How is the size indicated in this case? Let's say a picture is made up of three parts, each of which has a size of 50x50. IN this case the manufacturer will indicate on the box 50 × 150.

Question number 5. What is better canvas or cardboard?

Here, as they say, the taste and color ... Even on canvas, even on cardboard, the pictures look great. But I can say that most paint-by-numbers fans prefer canvas. And me too. It's somehow more pleasant.

The canvas is real cotton. It is already primed and stretched on a wooden stretcher. Completely ready to go. Although there are such sets where the canvas is rolled up, and the stretcher is present in disassembled form. Most likely, such a picture will be large. And it is not convenient to transport it in huge boxes. The subframe in this case must first be assembled. And then pull the canvas over it and fix it with a construction stapler.

It also happens that canvases are sold without stretchers at all. For example, polyptychs in which each part of the picture has different size. In this case, the subframe will have to be ordered separately.

Some manufacturers offer textured cardboard as the basis for drawing. He is very dense. But it still wobbles a little. Previously, sets with cardboard were cheaper than with canvas, but now there is not much difference in price between them.

Question #6: Why do I need a checklist?

A control sheet is a piece of paper on which the same drawing is applied as on the canvas. The first thing that comes to people's minds is that they need it for training. This is wrong. It is needed so that you can check yourself if you suddenly make a mistake. You can daydream about something while drawing and accidentally paint over the excess. And when a piece is shaded, the number is shaded too. How to determine what color should be here? With a checklist.

Question number 7. What paints are in the set?

The finished works look like they are painted in oils. It's a delusion. In fact, the paints in the sets are acrylic on water based. They don't smell and dry quickly. Very comfortable.

They can be in tubes and jars. Tubes are better because they don't dry out. And the jars must be closed very tightly to prevent drying out. In which case, the paint can be diluted with water.

Both tubes and jars are numbered.

Paints can be the same number as the colors in the picture or less. In the first case, you don’t have to mix paints, everything is already ready and mixed before you. And in the second case, to obtain the desired shades, you need to mix two, and sometimes three colors in certain quantities.

On the diagrams, these areas are indicated as follows:

  • 2/9 - so you need to mix one part of paint No. 2 and one part of No. 9;
  • 2/2/9 - so you need to mix two parts of paint No. 2 and one part of No. 9.

It is more convenient to draw with ready-made paints, but some are attracted by the process of mixing them.

The number of colors is calculated so that they are enough. Usually they still remain.

Question number 8. What kind of brushes?

The kit must have a brush. Often not alone. Nylon tassels. It is convenient to draw with them, they are quite rigid, elastic. After changing the color of the brush, you need to wash it, just like after work. Wash them with water and wipe with a napkin.

It is not necessary to strongly moisten the brush in water before dipping it into the paint. If the paint is fresh, then it does not need to be wetted at all. If there is a lot of water on the brush, then the paint will spread and become more faded. It will turn out ugly.

Question number 9. Where to start?

In what order do I do my work? First I paint the largest areas. Then those that are smaller, and then the smallest. That is, first the sky, then the clouds, and then the birds that fly against the background of the sky and clouds.

Painting by numbers | My-shop.ru

But this is not the only option. It is more convenient for someone to work with one color first, and then take the next one.

There is an option to start from the top left corner (for left-handers from the top right) and move on. This is so as not to carry your hand over the already painted areas. Although the paints dry quickly, and your hand will not do anything bad to them, they will not smudge.

Everyone works out their own way. Start drawing and understand how you feel comfortable.

Take the main paint thicker. Do not smear it, but impose it on the canvas. I often heard complaints that numbers were showing through the paint. This is especially true for light colors. How to deal with it? It is necessary to paint over light areas several times. And then the numbers will hide.

If suddenly you accidentally make a mistake, then there is nothing wrong with that. You need to check with the control sheet and paint over the area with the right color right on top of the wrong one.

Question number 10. At what age can you start?

Often, paint by number kits are considered as a gift for children. Everything here depends on the child. Some kids love this thing very much and draw one picture after another. And others are tired of this work. But you have to try to find out.

To start, choose small paintings with a low level of difficulty. And then move on to more serious options. Coloring clocks are also available for children. The same canvas with a picture, but arrows are strengthened in the center, and a clockwork is behind.

Well, and so, by age from 8 to 10. But there is no upper limit. The main thing is that a person has normal vision, so that you can see the numbers and contours of the plots.

Question number 11. What to do with the finished painting?

Give her a week off. Let it lie down. And then you can cover the picture with acrylic varnish. It makes the colors more juicy, bright. Lacquer can be matte or glossy. I prefer glossy acrylic lacquer.

When you apply varnish, work in one direction, for example, from top to bottom. It is better to take a brush flat and wide.

Question number 12. What to look for?

If you decide to buy yourself a drawing kit, be sure to ask to open the box. And pay attention to this:

  1. Is the canvas stretched well on a stretcher? It happens that the canvas sags in the center or on the side somewhere.
  2. If the subframe is disassembled, then try to assemble it in the store. This is not easy, and sometimes simply impossible, since the grooves of the rails do not fit into each other in any way.
  3. Check the presence of brushes, paints, fasteners, control sheet.
  4. Check the matching of the articles. The article on the box and the article on the canvas (it is written on the side) must be the same. Rarely, but it happens that manufacturers confuse and put the canvas from the wrong set. And then nothing will work for sure.
  5. If the paints are in jars, then check whether they are securely closed.

Paint by number kits can be a great gift for creative people. And the finished paintings are a wonderful decoration of the interior. And the pride of the author of course!

Advice number 1. How to paint with acrylic paints

Acrylic paint basics

Brief technical information: Acrylic is a paint consisting of three main components. Pigment, synthetic binder (acrylic polymer emulsion) and water. The latter is especially important for us. Acrylic paint dries as soon as water evaporates from it. That is why at first it is difficult to adapt to them - they dry very quickly both in work and on the palette. It is worth remembering that acrylic paint becomes darker when it dries.

Tools and materials

Acrylic paints can be found in jars and tubes.

One of the advantages of acrylic is that in combination with it you can use a huge number of additional artistic means. Here it is worth stopping and talking about another important point - fresh acrylic is easily removed with water. For dried paint, solvents are needed (! after working with acrylic, rinse the brushes thoroughly with water! Acrylic that has dried in the brush can ruin the brush forever!).

Keep your paint working.

Since acrylic paint dries very quickly, squeeze it out of the tube a little at a time. If you're using a regular plastic palette, buy a spray bottle to spray water onto the paint, dampening it.

Brushes.
If possible, buy special brushes for acrylic paints. They come in different shapes, sizes and textures. Usually, these are synthetic or nylon brushes. When working with acrylic paints - from frequent immersion in water, the brush may deteriorate. Natural brushes do not need to press on the canvas. You need to draw with the tip, as if on weight. At first it will be unusual, but when you get used to natural brushes, you will become their true connoisseur.

Wipe off the brush.
Keep a paper towel or washcloth nearby and dry the brush every time you wash. Then drops of water will not go down the rim and fall on the drawing, leaving blots.

Important properties. Generalization and something new.

And so, we have already said that acrylic paint dries very quickly. And this is its big advantage.
In addition, uncured acrylic is easily removed with water, while dried acrylic is resistant to water. This can be very useful because it allows you to apply a second coat of paint without the risk of destroying the first.
Acrylic paints allow you to work in layers - unlike oils and watercolors, upper layer they are usually not transparent, and the bottom is not visible - this is convenient when you need to correct some minor flaws. Or when you need to put a bright picture on some kind of background.
Acrylic paints are unpretentious to neighbors. They can be combined with oil and watercolor. And use it on almost any surface.
Acrylic does not smell. And in the process of work it does not emit any fumes that interfere with breathing, as in working with oil. And this is also an important plus))
Acrylic can be applied as a very liquid (like watercolor), and a thick layer - like oil. Moreover, it will still adhere well to the surface and not spread - the reason for this is its high elasticity.
Acrylic will not crack or fade.

Beginning of work

Pick a good spot. As with most things, painting is best done in natural light. Oh get close open window or in a room that has a lot of natural light. You'll be able to see little nuances in your brush strokes and colors that you wouldn't be able to see in any other light.

Lay out all your materials.Every artist has a different approach to organizing their materials, but it's best to arrange them however you like before you start. Fill the jars with water, take out the brushes and paints you want to use, and place your palette in the most ideal spot. You may also want to wear a bathrobe or an old shirt.

Find a light source. The color changes depending on how the light falls on it, so before you start drawing, determine the position of the main light source. Pay attention to this throughout the drawing process. You should use lighter colors near the light source and darker ones away from it. It may seem elementary, but determining the light source before starting work will help your colors to position themselves properly.

Shutdown

Cover the painting with a layer of varnish. Although not required, many artists prefer to cover the painting with a layer of varnish to set the acrylic paints. This helps the paint chemically bond to the canvas and better protects the paint from damage.

Clean your brushes and work area. Be sure to wash your brushes immediately after you finish using them. Acrylic paint can seriously damage and ruin brushes if left to dry on the bristles. Wash the bristles of the brushes with soap cold water until the water runs clear (warm/hot water will fix the paint on the brushes). Wipe the paint off the desktop and wash the water cans.

Save unused paint.Acrylic paint will keep for several months in a tightly sealed container, so if you have any leftovers save for later.

Leave the painting to dry.Place the painting somewhere where it can dry out in 1-2 days. Acrylic paints are very a short time drying, but they must be placed where they will not be disturbed so that they can dry properly.

Purpose of brushes:

1.FLAT BRUSH WITH STANDARD EXHIBITION

Combines hairs of different lengths for the best maneuverability: make bold strokes with the wide part of the brush and thin with the edge of the brush.

FLAT TRUNCATED BRUSH

Used for precise strokes, as well as for lines and serpentine curves.

HAZEL BRUSH

It has the advantages of both a flat and a round brush. Great choice for better color mixing.

SHLEPPER

Brush for long straight lines. Long pile allows you to hold a large amount of paint. Just hold the brush without pressure, almost perpendicular to the surface, and let the paint drip onto the paper.

Council number 2. By coloring pictures by numbers

So, in front of you is an open set of paint by numbers coloring pages and you can't wait to start creating your masterpiece. The following tips will help you paint a picture so that you can be proud of your work, and at the end of coloring it will hardly be possible to guess that the picture is drawn in this way (by numbers).

Of course, in this article it is impossible to tell and describe all the nuances that exist, since painting is a real art. We just tried to sum up the already accumulated practical experience drawing along with the recommendations of various manufacturers and state it in the most accessible form.

DRAW SEQUENCE PRINCIPLES

Paint preparation

Before you start painting, you need to carefully prepare the paint. They do not require any mixing of paints to obtain the desired shade and effect: everything is already completely ready and numbered, as the manufacturer took care of this in advance! Our paint sets are perfectly matched to color scheme and presented in the right quantity so that your future masterpiece is guaranteed to be similar to the original, and maybe even better. Everything depends on you!

pay attention to numbering of paints in containers

When painting by numbers, it is extremely important that the numbers on the containers match the numbers on the canvas. Some plots involve the use of several containers with the same paint color, respectively, these paints have the same number. So the numbering sequence looks like this:

Opening vials

Open paint bottles carefully, without using force - this can damage the bottle. To prevent the paint from drying out, always open only those paints that you really need at the moment.

Drawing

For convenience, place the following items near you: an image of the finished painting, paints, a brush, an outlined canvas, a control sheet, a glass of water, a piece of cloth and matches for stirring paints. It is better to choose a place with good lighting. Outline large surfaces first with a thin brush, and then paint over the surfaces with a thicker brush. Make sure you fill in the contour lines. It is considered normal if dark paint paints better than light paint. If the outlines or numbers show through, paint over them several times.

How to hold a brush

Hold the brush like a pen. For stability, put your hand on the surface and rotate the picture so that its location is convenient for you.

Drawing order

There is no single approach to the order in which paintings are drawn. There are several drawing techniques:

1) You can draw a picture using the "line by line" method, from the top edge of the picture to the bottom.

2) However, you can achieve best result, if you draw with the method "from the background to the foreground", first painting over the objects in the background, and then in the foreground. For example, you are drawing a landscape. In this case, the drawing order is as follows: 1. sky, 2. clouds, 3. meadow, 4. trees, 5. leaves, 6. flowers.

Sometimes the question may also arise: paint a picture by numbers or by colors? Empirically and empirically (Attention: such conclusions are made by "practitioners" and are not official recommendations from the manufacturer), two options have been identified by some users:

1) In the sequence of numbering colors in the set:

  • from the increase total areas and contours that need to be painted with one color, to decrease. Example: with paint No. 1 in the set, you need to color 15 contours, and with paint No. 2, ten contours.
  • from a larger total area of the contours, which must be painted over with one color, to a smaller one. This can be assessed visually "by eye".

2) In sequence from lighter shades and colors to more saturated and dark ones.

As you can see, there are many variations and interpretations of the paint-by-numbers technique. Various combinations and alternations of techniques and methods are also possible, which provides us with an infinite number of options. In other words, you are absolutely not limited by anything, except for your imagination, desires and skills. You should not get hung up on anything: you need to draw in a way that is convenient, pleasant and comfortable for you. Just start drawing a picture and in the process you will understand which technique and method of drawing is most pleasant and convenient for you.

For the perfect image of the finished painting paint over unpainted places and translucent numbers. As in art galleries, you need to look at the picture and evaluate it from a distance of 2-3 meters.

Note to skilled artists

The painting effect can be enhanced by applying different thicknesses of paint. To do this, apply the remaining paint in a thick layer on the elements of the picture that you would like to emphasize. This will give the picture a relief effect.

Varnishing

Acrylic paints after drying acquire a light gloss and beautiful appearance. The surface of the painting can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth. Additional care is not required. If desired, a week after the painting has dried, you can cover its surface with a special varnish for paintings. Glossy varnish will enhance the brightness of colors, and matte varnish will remove glare. Varnish can be purchased in special stores for artists and craftsmen.

Frame

By placing a picture in an appropriate beautiful frame, it will become a real masterpiece! To preserve the effect of the picture, you do not need to place it under glass. You can decorate your picture with a regular frame from self-service stores or with an exquisite frame from specialty stores or art galleries.

RULE USE OF PAINTS

To draw without problems, you must follow the rule of using paints. This is extremely important!

Therefore, we ask you to carefully read the following rules and follow the drawing instructions.

Important: once the paint cans are opened, the paint has a limited shelf life!

Rule 1

Open paint cans just before you start painting. It is very difficult to pack fast drying paints in such a small volume (about 3 ml) so that they can be stored in a store for a long time. Paint pots, which are the latest generation of MENGLEI's development, fulfill this requirement. However, once they have been opened, the paint can dry out. Therefore, the amateur artist should complete the painting as soon as possible after opening the paint cans.

Rule 2

Using a brush, remove adhering paint from the lid back into the jar. Boxes in a store or warehouse could be stored upright. Therefore, when opening the jar, a little paint may be on the lid.

Rule 3

Although the ink containers are tightly closed and specially designed to retain all the properties of the ink, the ink in them may thicken slightly during storage due to, for example, temperature fluctuations. To "revive" the paints and use them again, just add a couple of drops of water to them and mix thoroughly. The colors are ready to use again!

Rule 4

Once the paint cans have been opened, try to complete the painting without long breaks. After the first opening of the jars, there is a possibility that the paints may dry out. Therefore, after opening the cans of paint, try to use them for a maximum of 12 weeks.

Rule 5

If you want to take a break in work, tightly close the containers, having previously removed traces of liquid or already dried paint from the lid itself, from the edges of the lid and from the sealing grooves of the lid.

Figure Athe container is airtight because the edges of the container fit into the clean sealing grooves in the lid. The lid seals tightly to the edges of the jar.

Figure B improperly closed jar. It can be seen that the remnants of the paint do not allow the lid to close tightly. Therefore, air entering the container dries out the paint. Therefore, thoroughly clean each jar before closing it. Remove paint residue from the edge of the container with a fingernail or cloth, and round sealing grooves with a toothpick or large needle. Make sure the rim and lid are clean before closing the jar.

Rule 6

If you plan to take a break from painting for a few weeks, seal the paint cans tightly as described above, then wrap them in a damp cloth and place in a plastic bag or plastic box. This will help protect the paint from drying out. However, this cannot guarantee that already opened paints will still be ready for use and retain their properties for many months or years.

Rule 7

After each break in painting, the viscosity of the paints needs to be adjusted a little to ensure its proper application.

Bought a painting and can't wait to start working on it as soon as possible? Absolutely right, no need to postpone creativity for later. The handmade market is regularly replenished with new products, offering needlewomen more chances to realize their talents and hidden opportunities.

Craftswomen with experience in drawing note that the choice of a picture and the technique of coloring it plays an important role in the drawing process.

Before you start coloring by numbers, learn 6 easy but important points that will help you draw a real man-made masterpiece!

  1. Buy kits for coloring by numbers only in trusted specialized stores (here in this store a good choice coloring pages and decent service). This will help eliminate quality problems with components.
  2. Do not hurry. Before coloring, test the resulting color (if using mixed colors) on a sheet of paper or cardboard. Haste is a bad adviser in such a delicate matter as art. Experiment with the palette, combine colors, dilute them, invent something unique, your own.
  3. Choose your technique. Sketchy and chaotic painting will confuse you and, most likely, will not give the expected result. Therefore, read the instructions, the procedure for painting over a fragment of this picture and the recommendations of the manufacturer.
  4. Drawing should be comfortable. If you are a happy owner of an easel, there is no doubt that the artistic process will be comfortable for you. But more modest artists better free the surface desk and work in a position where the picture is fixed horizontally.
  5. Be careful. Many creative people note that it works much better under the “purr” of a TV, favorite series or just radio. This is true. But don't get overly relaxed! The wrong color applied to the painting can ruin the whole process. Before using paints, make sure they match the number printed on the canvas.
  6. Patience. Work sometimes does not progress as fast as we would like. Remember that the greats of this world have been working on pictures for years. The main thing is quality work, not a stopwatch counting the time spent on drawing.

Drawing pictures by numbers is not just for kids. Did you know that the students of Leonardo da Vinci himself used this technique? Yes Yes! Apprentices painted over fragments of Leonardo's works according to the sketches that he made. Therefore, not a lot, not a little, you join the real high art. That deserves only praise. Any creativity can paint the world with bright colors, and if it comes to drawing, then it’s up to you to paint everything around. And what color will be your day or tomorrow's mood - it depends only on you! Grab a brush and start painting!
