There were also alloy wheels, and since we had two sets of tires (one for sports races), the wheels were also purchased in two sets.

We did not work on the appearance anymore, however, later we made several cosmetic changes: we applied airbrushing to the rear of the body and replaced the regular wipers. After that, it was decided to move on to modernizing the cabin.


Updated salon

Without undue modesty, we say that in the salon of the VAZ 21099 we carried out a truly colossal work. Initially, the task was to create a comfortable, high-quality and technologically rich interior.

In accordance with this goal, work began. We dismantled the interior and carried out actions in two directions at once:


Firstly, we worked directly with finishing materials. So, all the seats, ceiling, center console, interior door panels were wrapped in black vinyl combined with green Alcantara. At the same time, we paid attention to absolutely every detail. So, the area in the glove compartment area was made as elegant and stylish as possible, as a result of which our 099 began to look better in this parameter than many foreign cars. The Alcantara-wrapped glove compartment lid is very pleasant to the touch, while the vinyl insert above gives the area a touch of richness.

To give the interior a special exclusivity, it was decided to arrange a kind of web, putting in a line in a similar way. To emphasize this idea, a cobweb composition was formed on the ceiling, which was painted with a fluorescent solution. We complemented this picture with ultraviolet lamps installed on the sides.

Secondly, we have upgraded technical equipment and some of the controls. So, a powerful speaker system was installed in the car, speakers that appeared almost everywhere, especially in the front of the car. Of the purely external changes, we note the original pedals, as well as a new gear lever and handbrake handle. By the way, the gearshift lever was placed in a case, also made of Alcantara. The steering wheel for convenience was sheathed in leather with embossed elements that prevent hands from slipping.

During the processing of the interior, the rear part was not deprived of attention, while tuning the VAZ 21099. The entire rear sofa was finished in exactly the same way as the rest of the cabin. At the same time, the lining was made in such a way that there was an Alcantara insert directly under the passenger: then the landing is much more comfortable, and stability during maneuvers is maintained. And for maximum comfort, six-inch LCD displays have been built into the front seat headrests, with each passenger having their own monitor.

In this way, we carried out tuning for the VAZ 21099. It should be noted that the work was painstaking and long, so be sure to take this into account when intending to do the tuning yourself. Indeed, one of the basic principles of improving a car with your own hands (any, not just the 099th) is slowness. Hurrying up, you will only make it worse for yourself: the risk of incorrect installation of certain elements in this case is very high. In addition, we do not advise you to start self-upgrading a car if you are not confident in your own abilities: after starting this business, it will not be possible to stop halfway through.

And with this in mind, it should be recognized that independent tuning of VAZ 21099 cars has a number of unconditional advantages, among which the possibility of performing all actions and manufacturing all parts solely at one’s own discretion and, which is also important, the budget of the process, when compared with professional tuning.
