The Christian Church honors the memory of its saints, who became famous for the exploits of a virtuous life.
Many holy saints of God received special grace from God, and He honored them to be intercessors before Him in deliverance from our sorrows and bodily ailments, in which they themselves were tempted.
The saints in their earthly life turned to God for help in healing their ailments, sorrows and deliverance from temptations, asked God to honor them with the gift of helping people in various situations of life even after death.
The saints participate invisibly in our conversation with God. They, as before, were petitioners for God's mercy, and so they stand before God to this day, hear the prayer of people living on Earth, and strengthen it many times over.
You need to remember: for prayer to be heard, praying to the saints of God should be with faith in the power of their intercession before God, with words coming from the heart.
In our prayers, we turn to the Lord God, to His Most Pure Mother - our Intercessor and Helper, to the holy angels and holy people - the saints of God, because for their sake the Lord God will soon hear us sinners, our prayers.

Angels- these are incorporeal and immortal spirits, gifted with mind, will and power. They are sinless, always doing the will of God. When God sends them to people, then they appear in a visible way, taking on a bodily form. The word "angel" means "messenger". There are nine angelic ranks - Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Forces, Powers, Principles, Archangels, Angels.
God gives every Christian at baptism guardian angel, which invisibly protects a person throughout his earthly life from troubles and misfortunes, warns against sins, protects in the terrible hour of death, and does not leave even after death.
Holy people we call saints of God because, while living on earth, they pleased God with their righteous life, and now, being in heaven with God, they pray to God for us, helping us who live on earth.
Saints have different names: prophets, apostles, martyrs, saints, saints, unmercenaries, blessed, righteous, confessors.
prophets- Saints who, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, predicted the future, mainly about the Savior. They lived until the Savior came to earth.

The first to suffer for the faith of Christ were: Archdeacon Stephen and Saint Thekla, and therefore they are called first martyrs.
Those who died for the holy faith after especially severe (great) suffering, to which not all martyrs were subjected, are called great martyrs, for example: the holy great martyr George (the Victorious), the holy great martyrs Barbara, Catherine and others.
Saints- Bishops or bishops who have pleased God with their righteous life, such as St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow, and others.

A LITTLE ABOUT PRAYERS
Prayer- the most powerful remedy for the healing of all diseases - both bodily and mental.
Prayers are laudatory or thanksgiving, pleading and repentant.
If we have sinned before God, we have sinned, we must ask him forgiveness, that is repent. Such prayers are called repentant.
If everything is fine with us, if we and our loved ones are healthy and prosperous, there is a place to live, what to wear, what to eat - for this we must glorify and thank God. Such prayers are called laudatory or gratitude.

Hieromartyr Yermolai, mentor of Panteleimon, Priest of Nicomedia(c. 305; July 26/August 8).
This saint is also given the grace to heal ailments.

People turn to St. Sampson the pilgrim, priest and healer for help in healing from various diseases. He was given grace through his prayer to God to heal the sick.

ON THE HAPPINESS OF MARRIAGE
Mother of God who attended the marriage in Cana of Galilee.
The marriage, honored by the presence of the Lord and His Most Holy Mother, took place in a poor family, the meager means of which were manifested in the lack of wine. Venerable Martyr Evdokia(c. 160-170; March 1/14). St. Eudoxia is prayed by women who cannot become pregnant. Evdokia, having received holy baptism and renouncing her wealth, pleased God with a strict fasting life and received the gift of miracles.
Martyr Paraskeva named Friday (III; October 28 / November 10). As a child, Paraskeva lost her parents. Growing up, she took a vow of celibacy, devoting herself to the service of the Christian faith, for which she was severely tortured and executed. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa is especially revered in Rus': an assistant and women's cares, the patroness of the household, the giver of good suitors, the patroness of agricultural work. She is also prayed for permission from childlessness.

Therefore, the holy martyrs Guriy, Samon, AviB are revered as punishers when "even if a husband innocently hates his wife."
Archbishop Mir of Lycia (c. 345; May 22; December 19). The Lord honored this Pleaser of God with great glory. There are many stories about his life and even more stories about his posthumous miracles. Testimonies of his help to people who resort to him with prayer do not dry up and so far throughout the Christian world, and not only the Christian one - recognition of the help of the Holy Pleasure of God Nicholas the Wonderworker has become universal. Great Martyr Catherine(305-313; December 7). martyr John the Warrior(IV; August 12). John the Warrior, sent by Emperor Julian to persecute and kill Christians, in fact provided great assistance to the persecuted: he freed the captured, warned others of the danger threatening them, facilitated their escape, for which he was imprisoned. After the death of Julian, John was released and devoted his whole life to serving others, living in holiness and purity.

Hieromartyr Kiirianu and martyr justine(304; October 15). Cyprian before his baptism, he himself was a sorcerer, and Justina remained without any harm from his demonic charms, the sign of the cross. "Turning from magical art, God-wise, to the knowledge of the Divine, the wisest doctor appeared to the world, granting healing to those who honor you, Cyprian and Justina, praying to the Lord of the Humanity to save our souls" (kontakion, tone 1). These saints are prayed for preservation from evil charm, for deliverance from sorcery and harm from wizards.
Reverend Nifont, Bishop of Cyprus (IV; January 5). Saint Nifont, for his laborious deeds, was rewarded by God with the gift of driving out evil spirits. Almost all his life he was in the struggle with unclean spirits and always defeated them with the help of God. Once the saint happened to lie in a serious illness. During a short sleep, the Blessed Mother of God appeared to him with a branch of an olive tree with the holy martyr Anastasia the Destroyer, holding in her hands a vessel and a branch dipped in holy oil. Those who appeared brought him to the temple of the Holy Apostles. Here the Mother of God commanded Anastasia to anoint the sick man with oil from the lamp in the altar, saying that this serves as God's mercy to him, handed him an olive branch and explained that this is a visible sign of God's grace, which is bestowed on the saint for his power over evil spirits. Therefore, Niphon is considered an intercessor from the obsession and wiles of the evil one.
Reverend Marufu, Bishop of Mesopotamia (422; March 1). Saint Maruf became famous for his learning, he was present at the Second Ecumenical Council. The Lord gave him the power to drive away evil spirits.
Reverend Nikita, Stylite of Pereslavl, miracle worker (1186; June 6). The Monk Nikita, Stylite of Pereslavl, a miracle worker, at first indulged in many vices, but was struck by the immutable truths of the Holy Scripture from Isaiah the Prophet: "wash yourself and be clean, take away the wickedness from your souls", he came to the monastery, put iron chains on himself and chose for solitary stay pillar. Saint Nikolay Ugodnik, Archbishop of the World of Lycian Wonderworker (c. 345; May 22; December 19). Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker is revered as a feeder of widows and orphans. The basis for believing in the help of Nicholas the Pleasant is his countless miracles during his lifetime and after death. In St. Nicholas, we see a special speed - swiftness in the help that he provides. He is not late and sometimes helps at the last minute.
St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is our prayer book for the improvement of life, in getting rid of various troubles and sorrows, the main patron of travelers, especially those floating on the waters. They also pray to him for the intercession of widows and orphans, help in poverty and need.
Saint Dimitry, Metropolitan of Rostov(1709; October 4; November 10). Saint Demetrius during his lifetime used all the surpluses of his estate for the sick, the poor, the orphans and the defenseless.
Martyrs Eustratius, Auxentius, Eugene, Mardarius and Orestes(284-305; December 26). These holy martyrs, after their death, miraculously helped one monastery during a time of scarcity in supplies.

Mother of God in honor of Her icon "Savior of the drowning"(1751; January 2). The name of the icon speaks for itself. The legend says that there is a very dangerous whirlpool on the Desna River. It often happened that huge barges loaded with bread fell into this whirlpool and became the prey of the abyss: the circulation of water with its swift power carried them along with the people accompanying them. And in this dangerous place, the icon of the Mother of God was once found, sailing to the bank of the river. Against the disastrous place, on the mountain, they first placed an icon, and then the Mother of God Church near the village of Lenkovo. "Ozeryanskaya"(XVI; November 12). The Ozeryansk Icon of the Mother of God appeared in the 16th century in the settlement of Ozeryansk. In the Ozeryansk Hermitage, abundant miracles began to be performed from this icon. In 1794, the icon was transferred to the Kuryazhsky monastery, located on a high mountain. For the sake of numerous pilgrims, the icon is daily taken down to the church of St. Onufry, built under the mountain, at the spring. The spring is located under the very altar, from which a cast-iron pipe is laid under the floor along the entire church. This water passes into nearby baths, where many receive healing from various diseases. Before this icon, they pray for the patronage of fishermen and hunters.
Saint Vasily Great, Archbishop of Caesarea of Cappadocia (379; January 14). Before his priestly service, Saint Basil himself worked so hard, hewing stones, that calluses remained on his hands for a long time. In his liturgy, the saint prays for those who labor "both in the mountains and in ores... and in the abyss of the earth, and in bitter labors."

The "Burning Bush" is sometimes depicted as a bush engulfed in flames, above which rises the Mother of God with the Child, visible from the waist. Much more often, an octagonal star surrounding the Mother of God is depicted. The star consists of two quadrangles. One is painted red - in the image of a flame, the other, resembling the green of a mysterious bush, - in green. In the corners of the icon are four symbols mentioned in the Apocalypse of St. John the Theologian: a man, a lion, a calf and an eagle, as well as archangels with the symbols that church tradition assimilates to them: Michael with a rod, Raphael with alabaster, Uriel with a fiery sword, Seiphiel with a censer, Barahiel with a bunch of grapes and Gabriel with a branch of the gospel.
Saint Nikita, the recluse of the Caves, Bishop of Novgorod (1108; February 13; May 13, May 27). With one prayer, Nikita put out the fire in Novgorod. They pray to Saint Nikita from the danger of being killed, in lack of rain or drought, from fire and from being struck by lightning.
Venerable Spyridon, prosphoron of the Caves(XII, November 13).

The "not-made" image was not written by a human hand. They say that this happened during the earthly life of the Savior. The ruler of the city of Edessa, Prince Avgar, was seriously ill. Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God
This is the main shrine of Moscow and the whole Russian land. They turn to her mercy when making especially important decisions related to social activities, before major fateful moments in life. This icon is often prayed for the salvation of Russia, they turn to it when the country is in trouble.
People have always treated the Vladimir icon with special reverence; many miracles and signs are associated with it. Before her, the anointing to the kingdom of sovereigns and emperors was performed. During the election of all-Russian metropolitans, and then patriarchs, lots were placed in a shroud in the kiot of the Vladimir Icon, hoping that the Mother of God herself would indicate the person pleasing to Her.
According to legend, this icon was painted by the Evangelist Luke on a board from the table at which the Savior ate with the Most Pure Mother and Righteous Joseph. St. Matrona of Moscow
Matronushka was born in the village of Sebino Tula region. From birth, the girl was blind, but the Lord gave her spiritual sight. People from the surrounding villages and distant places went to the blind girl and, through her prayers, received healing from illnesses and consolation in sorrows. At the age of 17, Matronushka's legs failed and she no longer walked.
In 1925, Matronushka was transferred to Moscow, where she lived for about 30 years. Not having her own corner, she constantly moved from place to place, and experienced a lot of suffering. People were constantly coming to her, up to forty people a day. She raised many bedridden patients to their feet, healed mental ailments, helped with her prayers in difficult life situations - unsolvable issues were resolved, incurable diseases retreated.
Matushka Matronushka died on May 2, 1952, and was buried at the Danilovsky cemetery. Now there is a very beautiful chapel over her grave. Constantly in summer and winter people come to her and bring fresh flowers, talk about their problems and ask for help and intercession.
The relics of the Holy Matrona of Moscow are in the Intercession Convent.
They pray to her for the healing of bodily and spiritual illnesses, for help in family troubles, for helping children in choosing the right path in life, for getting rid of sinful addictions, for help in finding a job, in solving housing problems, in all everyday needs.

The Holy Martyr Natalia lived at the beginning of the 4th century in Nicomedia. Natalia was a secret Christian, and her young husband Adrian professed paganism. During the persecution of Christians, impressed by the marvelous patience of the Christian martyrs, Adrian came to believe in Christ. Having openly declared his new faith, he accepted the crown of martyrdom. During the torture, Natalia encouraged her husband's faith by telling him about the eternal life. Through her spiritual suffering, Saint Natalia also deserved a martyr's crown and soon died at the grave of her husband. They pray to the holy martyrs for happiness in marriage, for patronage of the family hearth.
Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker
This is the most revered saint in the world. Nicholas the Wonderworker became famous as the protector of the unjustly offended and the patron of all who are on the way - fishermen, pilots, sailors, travelers. He also patronizes women, children, the poor, innocently convicted and animals. The Wonderworker is especially revered in the Russian North.

Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Tsar Constantine and Empress Helena
The Holy Emperor Constantine contributed to one of the most important finds in the history of Christianity - with his help, the Cross was found, on which the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified. Saint Panteleimon
The whole Christian world turns to the holy great martyr and healer with prayers for healing from illnesses. The great martyr lived in Asia Minor at the beginning of the 4th century. Having studied the art of medicine, Pantoleon (a worldly name) achieved such success that he attracted the attention of Emperor Maximian, who wished to make him the chief court physician. The Lord gave him the gift to heal ailments, and soon people abandoned the rest of the doctors and began to turn only to him. Envious people reported to the emperor that Pantoleon was confessing Christ, and the saint was betrayed to torment. When Maximian ordered to cut off the young man's head, the sword bent like grass, and everyone heard a voice from heaven, calling the martyr a new name - Panteleimon (in Greek - "all-merciful"). Then the saint himself ordered the soldiers to cut off his own head, and at the same time a new miracle took place: instead of blood, milk flowed out, and the olive tree, to which the holy martyr was tied, was filled with healing fruits.
The image of St. Panteleimon, as a rule, is present in the home iconostasis along with the images of the Trinity, the Savior and the Mother of God.
Holy Paraskeva Friday
Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa is the patroness of trade and weaving, and, accordingly, the patroness of needlework and needlewomen. Icons of the holy martyr protect family well-being and happiness. Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa pray for worthy grooms, in infertility, for the health of babies, in serious illnesses.
Saint Seraphim of Sarov
The great Russian saint, Reverend Seraphim of Sarov, for his ascetic deeds, was rewarded by the Lord with the gift of clairvoyance and healing. Human hearts were open to him, as were the past and the future. The advice given by the reverend elder sometimes aroused bewilderment and seemed strange, but everyone who followed the instructions exactly could be convinced that this advice was the only true and saving one. Through the prayers of St. Seraphim of Sarov, numerous signs and healings are performed at his grave. In front of his icon, they turn to the saint for help in mental and physical healing, with diseases of the internal organs, with diseases of the legs, and they also pray in sorrow.
Saint Sergius of Radonezh
Saint Sergius of Radonezh, through prayer to him, will protect you from any life problems. The saint is asked to protect children from bad influences, from failures in their studies. Prayers before the icon of the saint, who himself was a model of humility, help in finding humility and taming pride - both one's own and someone else's - since pride is known as an evil from which many troubles arise in our lives and those around us.
In the end, I would like to say that it is important to remember that when we pray before an icon to a saint, we should direct our thoughts to the Lord, the Giver of all blessings, since prayer for us will be holy, and its fulfillment will follow from God.
We pray to the Savior, the Most Holy Theotokos and the saints in front of their icons in order to find peace in the soul, to feel protection and support. And we receive help in this or that need through our sincere prayer.
