Biography. Alexander Viktorovich Kutikov: biography This is the final version - the house of your dreams

Among people close to the world of domestic rock music, there is a strong opinion that, in terms of their composer and vocal abilities Alexander Kutikov deserves a more impressive solo career. He could have achieved more by using all his potential for personal success, and not for collective creativity as part of a cult, but a group.

Kutikov has one answer: “Machine” is his home, “drivers” are family, and he is engaged in personal projects no less than others.

Hornist from the Patriarchs

He is one of the most devoted fans of Moscow Spartak. Alexander Kutikov jokes that the love of football and a patronymic are all that he inherited from his father. Viktor Petukhov, in addition to Spartak, played for the Wings of the Soviets from Kuibyshev. But instead of him, who left the family early, the main man in the family was his maternal grandfather, Naum Moiseevich Kutikov, who lived difficult life nomenclature worker of the Stalin and Khrushchev times.

Alexander Kutikov was born on April 13, 1952, near Moscow. His mother danced in a gypsy ensemble and, obviously, endowed her son with musicality and artistry at the genetic level. The childhood of the future rocker was a typical Soviet pioneer with a formally organized school life from morning and stormy courtyard life until night, where a strong character and strong fists were a tangible advantage. Boxing classes helped Sasha maintain authority among friends from the Patriarchs, and classes in music school in the class of wind instruments they made life easier at school and at a pioneer camp - there was no better bugler to be found.

Finding landmarks

At the age of 14, he first heard hitherto unfamiliar music from a friend - these were The Beatles. One of the compositions of Norwegian Wood impressed Kutikov so much that soon the desire to engage in such music became decisive for him for the rest of his life. There was an incentive to master the guitar, which was helped by classes at a music school.

To start labor activity Alexander Kutikov chose a specialty in the related music of the region - a sound engineer. Soon he became one of the youngest specialists in working with sound at the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. Among those whom he recorded during broadcasts and in the studio were many pop stars of that time: Karel Gott, Helena Vondrachkova, Singing Guitars, etc. People with common interests are always drawn to each other, and soon Kutikov finds himself among those who were involved in the birth of Russian rock.

Birth of "MV"

Later, Kutikov said semi-seriously that the desire to master the bass guitar arose from two circumstances. The first is that there are fewer strings on the bass, and the second is an acute shortage of great bass players in all groups that have arisen since the late sixties all over Moscow. He quickly became known as a master bass player. Therefore, when young Andrey Makarevich was looking for a replacement for a guitarist who had gone into the army, Kutikov turned out to be the way. They became friends with Andrey from the time of his studies at the architectural institute, so he joined the team painlessly, introducing a major rock and roll spirit into it.

Alexander Kutikov, whose biography turned out to be associated with the "Time Machine" since 1971, left the group several times in order to be hers since 1979 permanent member. The first departure was caused by a conflict with one of the co-founders of the group - Sergey Kavagoe, because of which in the 79th year "MV" had to be recreated. In 1975, Kutikov left the group to officially get a job - he was invited to otherwise he was threatened with a term for parasitism.

"Leap Summer"

After the first departure from MV, Kutikov played in a group created by A. Sitkovetsky from the “wreckage” of the Airport and Sadko teams. The time spent in Leap Summer turned out to be useful for the musician. He acquired valuable experience work with high-class musicians, once again appreciated the importance of the poetic component of rock: on his recommendation, the famous poetess Margarita Pushkina wrote the texts for some of the VL compositions. In the group, he met a drummer who became his long-term colleague in the "Machine".

Pinnacle of it creative union was a scandalous victory at the 1974 rock festival in Tallinn, where the Time Machine also participated. Then, despite the pressure of the ideological authorities, the group became a laureate. But two bears in one lair are crowded, and Leap Summer broke up into Rock Studio and Autograph, and Kutikov and Efremov, together with Makarevich, became the core of the revived Time Machine.

New turn

Andrey Makarevich and Alexander Kutikov, whose photos were present on all MV discs and posters, began to work together again. For more than four decades, the composition of the group has shuffled many times, but as Alexander says: “These are all our people!”. During all this time he has made a significant contribution to the collective creative process. Kutikov is a full-fledged co-author of many compositions with which "Machine" is personified. He composed music for such hits as "Turn", "Jumps", "For those who are at sea", "Music under the snow", "Night", "Good hour", "He plays at the funeral", "If If only we were older." According to connoisseurs, only the unique Kutikovsky vocal gives the performance of these songs a true authenticity.

Like other members of the Time Machine, Alexander Kutikov also accumulates his own musical material. The discography of his solo albums began in 1990 with the disc "Dancing on the Roof" and has seven albums. Among them are Miracle Shop (1996), The Best. Time Machine" (2002), "Demons of Love" (2009). Started in 2014 new stage V solo work musician. He began to actively cooperate with people who had previously helped him in recording solo discs. Soon the album "Alexander Kutikov and the Nuance group" was released.

With "Machine" and without it

He has many creative incarnations. He is an experienced sound producer who has worked with rock and pop stars: Alla Pugacheva, Leonid Agutin, Bravo, Nautilus-Pompilius and many others. He released CDs with recordings by I. Brodsky and Yu. Aleshkovsky. He participated in many television projects, among them the famous "Old songs about the main thing." He is the owner of a record company.

But, most importantly, he continues to compose and perform good music.

Until the age of 7, I lived in a separate 4-room apartment on Patriarch's Ponds. Grandfather Naum Mikhailovich Kutikov was a very big administrative worker. Just after my grandparents broke up, this apartment was exchanged. Everyone dispersed to small rooms. My grandmother lived on

Next door to what used to be our luxury apartment. My mother and sister and I first moved to Bolshoy Kozikhinsky Lane, then to Malaya Bronnaya. But these were already rooms in communal apartments. After I had nannies, rations, getting into a communal apartment, where there are 11 more neighbors, is a shock, of course.

The album was recorded in collaboration with guitarist Dmitry Chetvergov and Andrey Derzhavin (the future keyboardist of "Time Machine"). It consisted of songs based on poems by Karen Kavaleryan. Kutikov himself explained the release of the solo record by the fact that he had accumulated a lot of musical material, and Makarevich, who is very serious about his creative activity, will not be able to quickly write the lyrics of new songs. Since December 2003, Kutikov resumed his solo activities, this time together with the Nuance group, at whose concerts he performs songs from his solo album and the Time Machine repertoire. With the group "Nuance" he performed at the festival "Phoenix" in Grozny. In an interview, Kutikov talks about the release of a new solo album.

About personal life famous musicians we usually learn either from the "yellow press", which relishes, to put it mildly, not very attractive episodes. And they, these "star people", it turns out, are often busy with mundane business. That does not detract from their "stardom". For example, we met Alexander Kutikov, permanent bass player of "Time Machine" in the Moscow region. The musician showed the house that he is building for himself, at the same time controls how the workers finish the walls. Kutikov's wife, Ekaterina, drove up. Together with her husband, they are discussing the progress of construction near the model of the future house. Alexander explains: “Katya even received a prize for developing the landscape of this site - she became the winner of the Moscow competition of landscape designers. But this project is still far from practical implementation - only the contours of the tides are visible. The wife will take care of her favorite landscape a little later, now she has other worries enough. Here she is, in fact, the chief foreman ... "

- Alexander, what is the name of this place?

Cottage village Gavrilkovo, Krasnogorsk district - to the Moscow ring road (MKAD) from here 6-7 km. We were looking for a plot in this direction, because my wife's parents live nearby, and they are middle-aged people. And it’s more convenient for Katya’s daughter to travel from here.

- What does the younger Catherine do?

He studies at the Lyceum at the Moscow International University - in fact, at Moscow State University.

- Has anyone from show business settled here?

- Has your wife already landscaped the site for one of your friends?

No. But she has finished objects in Moscow - chic objects! On the construction of our house, she monitors the entire construction part - I could not do this. Too busy with music and I don't have the building knowledge she does. wife has two higher education- she is a production designer, graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School and the Architectural Institute with a degree in landscape design.

Is building a house expensive?

About 300 thousand dollars. If you buy already built, you can lay out a million. Especially if you buy through a company. For me it's impossible.

Did you design the house yourself?

We did not engage in "self-design", as is often the case, but immediately turned to specialists. Our house was designed by an architect from St. Petersburg. Many believe that they are able to invent a house themselves. They took pencils, sketched out diagrams of the rooms, then called the builders to make a house according to their drawings. But it's not right. Eight years ago, I bought an unfinished dacha and thought that we would soon be able to move in there. So, it took five years to complete it! Rebuilt, rebuilt, remodeled.

- Was it a "self-made project"?

Yes. And only now it has turned into a wonderful country house, where we live after the sale of the city apartment. This place is called "Bay of Joy" - in the famous village of Zhestovo along the Ostashkovsky highway. True, far away - 19 km from the Moscow Ring Road. There a good place but not exactly what we wanted. That's why we're building a house here. They sold a city apartment, bought land in Gavrilkovo. Now I have finally become a village dweller. Joke!

- New house will it be single storey?

There is a second floor, but not along the entire perimeter of the foundation. The house is built like a ranch. Very high ceilings - 5 m 20 cm. I love these - I was born in a Stalinist house, I'm used to it. The standard height puts pressure on me. The footage of the house is small - a living area of 150 sq. m, and the total is 380. But there are a lot of utility rooms - laundry, boiler room, several dressing rooms. My daughter will have her own bathroom. She has already figured out what kind of curtains and furniture she will have there. We have three bedrooms - mine with Katya, daughters and for guests. The house is designed so that in the morning when you have breakfast, the kitchen is lit by the sun.

- Will there be fountains, pools?

Fountains - no, a small pool - perhaps yes.

- Do you already communicate with your neighbors?

Not really. We are a self sufficient family.

- Are there many difficulties in construction?

Cement is defective. Once we had to return half of the truck to the seller. But there are difficulties of a different kind. We started building in August last year and a month later we replaced the foreman. I arrived at the construction site, and it seemed to me that the walls were not quite even. They took a tape measure - the deviation from the norm was 7 cm. The foreman began to make excuses. He said that he had built many regional committees and city committees of the party and that such a permit in Soviet times considered completely normal. I listened to him carefully, then insisted that they invite surveyors with instruments. Now I have a different foreman, and the walls are smoother than even!

- What kind of housing do you have?

- This final version- the house of your dreams?

There are no final choices in life. And life itself is multivariate. I believe that it does not end with the departure from this mortal body. In any case, my wife and I know for sure that we are building this house based on own ideas about comfort and beauty. The house is modest, I do not like pompous buildings.

- Have you been to the house of Andrei Makarevich in the village of Podushkino?

Certainly. Andrew has a nice house. It was once built by Leonid Yarmolnik. The house is very comfortable, with good energy. But my wife and I went the other way - we do not save on land. Many are forced to build houses with two or three floors in order to save on the foundation area. We have 27 acres, and we did not save the land - we made a house in the form of a one-story ranch. I want my grandchildren to say - our grandfather built this house! When you create a house, you realize yourself as a man.

- I was in Makarevich's house about six years ago - this house is squeezed on the sides by ordinary village huts ...

Behind last years the situation there has changed dramatically. There are very few real village people left near Andrey's house. And if you move away from the place of residence of Makarevich, there are practically no houses of indigenous people left there. Now there is a huge cottage village where a lot of our friends and acquaintances live.

How can you save money on building a house?

Use cheap labor force where qualifications are not required. Shabashniks dug trenches, made drainage, sewerage, laying communications. Why not? The main thing is to have a competent foreman standing over them, who could control the whole process. A private craftsman from Ryazan built a fireplace for $700. If we turned to a Moscow company, it would be three times more expensive. So now let's have a barbecue!

- Where will your office be?

My office is next to the kitchen - there will be sun here in the morning too. I like to work early in the morning. At half past seven something gives me a lift and I go to the guitars or the computer. Sometimes there is a very fresh condition that needs to be used. Very bright head and immediately understand what needs to be done. Some kind of melody sounds in your head, you quickly run to the port studio, sketch out a draft version, and then finish it. It's called "grab the mercury quickly so it doesn't escape". I will have my own wine room. I usually have 150 bottles, they are constantly "rotated". But less than 80 does not happen.

- What is this wine?

Dry Italian, French. I love Italian wine very much.

- Are these collectible wines?

There are some. For example, Chateau Cheval Blanc of the 90th year is the best vintage of the century. The first place in the world is held by Chateau Petrus, the second - Chateau Lafite Rothschild, the third - Chateau Margot Rothschild. My Cheval Blanc is in fourth place.

- It is believed that Italian dry wines are more acidic than Spanish, French ...

Nothing like this! Italy has over 25,000 varieties of wine. You just need to understand them. Italian wine is luxurious! Super! Tuscan wines are in no way inferior to French ones. But they are also cheaper. For example, Tignanelo, Vigorelo or Sosikaya are not just high-class wines, they are wines of exceptional quality.

- What is the price of good Italian wines?

The cost of a good wine, regardless of the country, is at least 50-60 dollars. Everything that is cheaper is not the same. No matter how the producers, sellers praised this wine ... What is on the counter for 10 dollars, wholesale costs 1-3 dollars. You understand that it is impossible to get good wine for such money.

- Is there a decent dry wine from local manufacturers?

- Will Katya also have her own office?

Yes, on the second floor, in the most advantageous place - from there a beautiful panorama of the floodplain of the Skhodnya River. Over time, they promise to clear everything and make an equestrian park and a ski track. I love mountain skiing. I also visit foreign ski resorts- I prefer Austria and France. This Famous places- for example, Lech, Courchevel.

- Ride there with the oligarchs?

I am familiar with some of them. They understand not only business, but also life in general. Smart people. Well, yes, they managed to earn a lot of money, and who prevented others from doing the same? They drink good wines, they choose the right places to ski. But these places were not created by them - they were long before them. And believe me, most of the people who come to Courchevel are far from the richest people in our country. You can rent a room for two or three thousand dollars a day, but you can just as well live in a room for $150 or less. Of course, even that kind of money may seem unaffordable to some. But I, for one, can afford it. Because I work four or five jobs and have only a couple of weeks off - usually right after the New Year. So I spend them in the mountains.

- The first work is "Time Machine", and the second? ..

I have two music publishing companies, there are music studio, where I work as a producer and director, there is a distribution company and there is a concert company - and all this needs to be done.

- Were you able to get debts from one record company with which you were suing?

I just bankrupted this firm. And he became the copyright holder of some albums by Joseph Kobzon, Mikhail Shufutinsky and a number of others famous performers. These records previously belonged to our debtor. But so far I have never used them for commercial purposes. The precedent in our music market was important to me. The precedent that intellectual property can be transferred to the category of commercial. That's what I fought for. When I asked through the court to return my debts, the company replied that it had no money. They were hypocrites. But I knew that they had the rights to many records. And then I decided: since there is no money, I'll take the rights. I have a good relationship both with Kobzon and Shufutinsky - and I had no plans to take away their material from them. I tried to prove that intellectual property has a commercial equivalent and that debts must be repaid. Otherwise, the liquidation of the company will come. What happened. By the way, now I can use at my own discretion all the material that came to me by court decision. I can re-release these albums, make compilations. But so far there is no such task. I'm more interested in new projects. But those who now try to publish the material to which I obtained the rights without my permission can follow the path of the company that I closed. And it depends not only on my mood or desire. From a purely legal point of view, I - new owner these records. Many people think that there are enough new contracts with performers and that's it. But everyone forgets that there is still the right of the first publisher. It is valid for the first 50 years from the date of publication of the first copy. And I became the successor of the original publisher.

- Did you work in the cinema a lot?

With Dmitry Svetozarov - yes. "Speed", "Breakthrough", "Arithmetic of Murder" - the list is quite large, and our music is everywhere. There are no new interesting offers in the cinema yet. Yes, I myself somehow lost interest in film music. Many directors now perceive music as something secondary. They use famous names, take their songs, cut fragments. There are very few people who understand that the music for the film should be written specifically. Take Scorsese's Once Upon a Time in America for one of the best musical lines in film history. Music filled the film with life, new feelings.

- Alexander, have you ever thought about the reasons why the "Time Machine" lasts so long?

In my opinion, everything is very simple. We respect each other, listen to each other and help each other.

There are two main reasons why strong teams break up - it's money and creative ambitions. Were there such difficulties in the group?

Our system of distribution of income from concerts has not changed since 1969. As we once agreed, so we act. And as for creative ambitions, there were never any restrictions in the "Time Machine". Do you want a solo project - please! Andrey worked in parallel with different genres. At one time he collaborated with the Fern group, now with the Creole Tango Orchestra. Zhenya Margulis has the "Shanghai" group. For a long time he worked with the Resurrection group. Periodically continues to perform solo. I was a producer. We never interfered with each other, but on the contrary, we only helped in the work on projects.

- Can you say that you are connected by friendship at the family level?

Certainly. We constantly went to visit each other and talked, and now we talk. But life itself regulates the intensity of these contacts. It's nice to meet you, but it's not the system. We don't visit each other every week. But when this happens, we enjoy communication. I am very pleased to see each of the musicians of our group at home.

- Do you go hunting and fishing together?

We are not hunters or fishermen. We have Andrei - the only one who is a traveler, and a hunter, and a fisherman - all together in one person. We occasionally go skiing together in the mountains. But again, not all. Zhenya Margulis doesn't look very good on skis. That's why he doesn't ride.

- And what about all sorts of warm resorts?

My wife and daughter travel. And I am a small lover of the seas-oceans. I am a mountain dweller. I feel better in the mountains than at sea. Calm down. I don't like sunbathing, I think it's a waste of time. In life, there are many other ways to spend time usefully - for example, with your family at home.

- Do you like loneliness?

I just love being alone. If I have time, I like to go by car somewhere. It doesn't matter where.

- No purpose?

Absolutely! And at the same time I think. I'm flying far away in my thoughts. Sometimes you wake up, and outside the window is the Tver region. And it doesn't bother me at all. Behind the wheel was invented so much interesting projects! For example, I dream of making a tricycle for myself and driving it all over America - from the West to the East coast.

- A tricycle is a three-wheeled motorcycle, but without a sidecar?

Yes, and wide tyres.

Have you tried tricycles?

No. But I have absolute inner confidence that this is for me. I first got behind the wheel when I was 37 years old. And I immediately realized that I am a very good driver. I had wonderful teachers, I listened to them very carefully, followed all their instructions. I drive a car well and, pah-pah-pah, I have never been in an accident. Although accidents do not always depend on whether you drive a car well or not. An accident is a coincidence. One of my main driving teachers once said this to me: “99% of the people who surround you in the stream do not know how to drive a car. Therefore, you should not think about what you are doing, but about what they can do in any given period of time." So I look around and think which of these "drivers" in the next second can damage my car and me.

- What car do you have now?

- Pajero. I have been driving a Pajero for a long time, this is my third car of this brand.

- And in the "Time Machine" are you the last one who mastered driving?

No. Zhenya Margulis got behind the wheel much later than me. I told him all the time: when you sit behind the wheel, drive - you will understand what a pleasure it is. And you'll kick yourself for not doing it before. It all worked out that way. For me, driving is a pleasure. That's why I don't want to hire a driver - a stranger in my car annoys me, I like to drive alone. Last but not least, with your family. There is one more argument - I am not yet ready to entrust my health and life to a stranger.

- With a computer Alexander Kutikov "on you"?

Yes. In addition to my main desktop computer have a laptop. But I rarely use them. Sometimes I take it with me on tour - in free time I watch movies on DVD. Or I work with a draft version of a future song. I am actively working with email. For me, the Internet is a space that provides the necessary information. But I never communicate in chat rooms - I prefer a conversation with a living person, eye to eye. If the network will be able to communicate with the video image, then I will definitely use this service. But while webcams, unfortunately, not all users have. It is also not available to me now - I live outside the city and go online through mobile phone. And to transfer video and audio files, you need a dedicated line. Over time, of course, I will connect to the "optics" - it still needs to be brought to our village.

Andrei Makarevich opened a luxurious dental office, and this is logical - money should work. Do you have any non-music business?

No, but sometimes I act as a consultant. I have a circle of friends whom I helped successfully get out of force majeure.

- You had a solo hit album "Dancing on the Roof" in 1989. What niche did he occupy in the music market?

It is re-released on CD, but this album was good for its time. Now I would arrange it and sing it differently. I did not have enough time for the second "solo" for a long time. During these years I worked very hard as a producer and publisher. Almost all solo albums Andrei Makarevich, Zhenya Margulis were published by my company. He had a hand in such groups as "Nautilus Pompilius", "Bravo", "Lyceum", three series of "Old songs about the main thing". Collaborated with Leonid Agutin, Marina Khlebnikova. I enjoyed working with Mikhail Shufutinsky. Now, as a producer, I am working with Yulia Mikheeva from the city of Magnitogorsk. We are finishing her first album. She has very complex and unusual songs. The peculiarity is that she does not write a verse plus a chorus. She has a verse - a whole song. Not a single radio station took her material - the refusal was with the now fashionable clause "non-format". It surprises me - Julia has very talented music and poetry.

- Is Yulia Mikheeva such a Frosya Burlakova?

No, she was originally a very cultured, educated person. Julia is a costume designer, worked in the theater, was a multiple winner of the acting song contest. In the case of Yulia, it is not so much the commercial impact that matters to me, but the emotional one. I need to know what my time really wasted talented person. Even if he didn't make any money.

- Can it turn out that the album will go to the sand?

He will no longer go into the sand, because Yulia Mikheeva has fans, and they will buy her album. Finally, they will hear it not only at concerts, but also in a good recording. And as for our common work, I just finished recording the new album "Time Machines". It's called "Machinically", it has 12 new songs. Most of them were written by Andrey Makarevich and Evgeny Margulis. The rest were composed by Andrey Derzhavin and I. How soloists sing. Then an anthology of songs "Machines" will follow - I also do it

- Did you work with Alexander Gradsky?

Yes, as a vocalist - when he was recording his rock opera Stadium. I sang a little aria, I think he was very pleased. I also enjoyed working with him. Alexander, for all his external aggression towards the world around him, is a very talented, kind and vulnerable person.

- Did you revive the Nuance group?

No, we just decided to work together on my songs. They are an independent team. I just suggested something to them - they corrected some of their things. Perhaps we will do a joint project.

- Are you still boxing?

Haven't worn gloves in a long time. But in the new house I will definitely do it - I have already looked after myself a special boxing simulator. When I started boxing - and that was back in school - there were no such devices. I fought very well and, as it turned out recently, I still know how to do it well. But these details are out of print.

listen)) - Soviet and Russian musician, composer, vocalist, music producer. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (). He performed and performs as part of several musical groups. He is best known as the bass player, vocalist and composer of the Time Machine rock band, which he was a member of in 1971-1974 and from 1979 to the present.

Owner, founder and president of the record company "Sintez records" (founded in 1987).

Alexander Kutikov was born into a Russian-Jewish family on April 13, 1952 in Maliy Pionersky Lane, on Patriarch's Ponds, in the very center of Moscow.

The childhood of Alexander Kutikov was spent in the Small Pioneer Lane on the Patriarch's Ponds.

Famous people visited the Kutikovs' house: Mark Bernes, Pyotr Aleinikov, and famous athletes, among them Vsevolod Mikhailovich Bobrov. Studied at a music school. He played various wind instruments - both the trumpet, and the viola, and the tenor saxophone performed classical music. He was a bugler in a pioneer camp and won competitions. At the age of fourteen he began to play the guitar. In his youth, he was engaged in boxing (he boxed in lightweight at the Moscow Championship among youths and received bronze), hockey and football. He was the secretary of the Komsomol organization of the school, but at the age of 16 he wrote a statement about leaving the Komsomol. Because of this, he did not enter any institute.

Back in 1970, in the workshop of broadcasts and out-of-studio recording, the GDRZ was the youngest sound engineer. And at the age of 18 he went to broadcast and record concerts with the participation of stars. I was trusted to record Karel Gott, VIA "Singing Guitars", Helena Vondrachkova and other famous performers.

At the age of 19, he met 17-year-old Andrei Makarevich, then a first-year student at Moscow Architectural Institute. By his own admission: “We immediately discovered that we have a lot of common musical tastes, including the Beatles.<…>I have always been attracted to people who have a higher intellect, outlook, level of education than I do.<…>Andryusha was just one of those people. For example, he was brilliantly versed in literature, in particular in poetry. When I talked a little with Andryusha, I realized how much he read, how many great poems he knows by heart and how much I missed when I was skating and running around the yards as a child.
