Urban landscape in watercolor in stages. How to draw a city with a pencil Draw an old city

The city is where you might live. The city has many streets, houses, trees and people. There are small towns on Earth, and there are large ones - megacities - with a population of several million people. City residents get used to the noise of the streets, to the horns of cars, to the bustle, the crowds on the streets. Perhaps you had to try to draw city streets, houses. Let's learn how to draw a quiet city street in stages with a pencil using the rules of perspective and proportions in the drawing.

Stage 1. We will draw a piece of the city street, moving away from us into the distance. That is, on foreground we will have large objects, as we move away, as it were, from our eyes, the size of all elements will decrease. Here the rules of perspective are used in the drawing. We draw two lines in the middle, they are parallel to each other. On the right we show two lines diverging in perspective. On the left, a line at the bottom and two lines forming an angle at the top.

Stage 2. Let's start drawing the walls of houses. In front of us we draw two straight lines running parallel to each other. One is higher, the other is lower. From the high line we take the line to the side. This will be the wall of the building in front of us. On the right we raise the wall and draw the door.

Stage 3. Now let's draw the roofs of the houses. On the left, we make them pointed, since this house is visible to us from the side. Right also. The front house has a different roof.

Stage 4. Now, under the roof of the left house, we will draw additional features. Below we show the line of the sidewalk. From it we build straight entry lines. On the right, we draw wavy lines of the sidewalk, going forward and turning to the side.

Stage 5. Let's continue drawing the door in the left house. And at the right house in a small ledge of the sidewalk we draw a sprawling tree that adorns this street.

Stage 6. The entrance to the left house is a door with a small canopy. Draw a window under the canopy. Next to the sidewalk near this house, we show the elements - dining tables and chairs. Draw a vase with flowers on the table. There is a cafe on the lower floor of the left house. And in the right house we will finish the elements on the front door.

Stage 7. We will show a wastebasket near the table. Above the entrance is a hanging lamp. Not far away Street light. On the right house we draw pipes on the roof.

Stage 8. Now in all three houses we draw windows. Please note that they are everywhere. different type. Rectangular, square, arched. There are many windows, especially in the house in the middle of the picture.

Stage 9. Now we erase all the sketches, leaving nothing unnecessary. This is what your drawing should look like in black and white. Of course, you can make it brighter and color it. You will get an urban landscape. Now you can also draw your city street while looking out the window of your apartment if you live in the city. Do not forget the rule that objects in the foreground are larger, those in the background are smaller, and all lines should go into perspective.

It is rather difficult to draw a city with a pencil due to the fact that it is necessary to take into account the perspective, the correct construction, and at first it is not a drawing, but pure geometry. For those who are not familiar with the basic laws of perspective, there can be difficulties. It is impossible to tell everything in one small lesson, so here will be the most basic steps. In our drawing there will be houses, and a bridge, and a river, and trees, in general, the drawing is not easy, so please be patient. When you know how a drawing is built, you can draw any street, square or picturesque corner of your city. Now let's try to draw a city with a pencil in stages.

  1. You will need a sheet of thick paper with a smooth matte surface, two pencils - hard and soft, an eraser. First of all, we outline an imaginary horizon line. It is with her that the whole construction of our drawing begins. We draw a horizontal line through a sheet of paper with a thin hard pencil. For beginners, it is better to do this under the ruler, so that it is more accurate. In the open air or with quick sketches, be sure to try to draw "by eye", without the help of tools. Experienced Artists, most often, do not use either rulers or compasses. Thanks to many years of training, they have a well-developed eye and hardness of the hand.

Now we roughly mark a point on a horizontal line, this will be the point of our gaze, the center of the entire drawing. Then we outline the top point of the building on the left and draw a line through this point and the central one. We do the same with the buildings on the right. They are smaller in height because they are much further away. In the same way, we draw a line through the most high point to the right and the center point of the horizon. We get the "framework" of the drawing and the guide lines, according to which we will build our entire drawing of the city.

  2. Another difficult stage - we begin to build all the city structures (bridge, buildings). On the houses on the left, thin lines indicate the places where the windows will then be located. See how they all converge again into one central point on a horizontal line. In the background of the house different heights and width, moreover, they "overlap" each other. We outline the river waves with a barely visible shading, we will return to them later.

  3. Now let's start drawing. All additional construction lines can be carefully erased with an eraser, restoring the desired contours of the drawing. We outline where and how the windows of the houses will be located on the right and left. We draw the buildings that are in the background in general, with a hint, there is no need to draw in detail. The main thing is to give the viewer the impression big city and many buildings. We shade the darkest places of the picture. This must be done to check the overall tonal balance. We draw some trees in the foreground. So far, only their trunks and the thickest branches.

  4. We darken the window openings in the tall buildings on the left, in some places we draw small decorative balconies, we designate the corrugated roof and the shadow under it more voluminously. We outline the details of the bridge. We need to show that it is made of rough stone, so we draw its texture with small short and broken lines. Again, no need to draw clearly, the bridge is far away. Therefore, let the viewer mentally imagine what the bridge is built from.

  5. We begin to work on the details of the drawing. On the left we make an almost black metal fence, more clearly draw the shadows of the trees and their trunks. The water under the bridge will also be almost black. Contrast draw the waves with broken lines. On the trees we draw thin branches. At the base they will be thicker, and towards the top they become thinner and more transparent. Due to this, in the figure they look like a large lush and openwork "hat".

  6. In the final drawing of the city, the most soft pencil draw small parts. Again we return to the buildings in the foreground, trees, water, shadows under the bridge. Some houses are lighter, some are darker, let's show this with thin shading. We squint and check the overall tone.

To draw streets, buildings, bridges, roads, be sure to study the rules and laws of perspective, without this it will be very difficult to draw a city with a pencil.

Now we will look at how to draw a landscape with a pencil in stages for beginners. It will have a palm tree, a shore and a river. This lesson is for beginners and is aimed at consolidating knowledge of the technique of drawing hatching. If you do not know the basics, then first you need to study, then.
We draw a sketch of the landscape.

Below is a table in which different tones are shown by numbers when hatching.

See what and what hatching option we will draw. In each paragraph, in parentheses, the number of which tone to use will be indicated.

Use different softness pencils to create a specific tone to create a strong contrast. The author begins by drawing light tones (1) near the sky and water with a 2H pencil.

We make diagonal strokes from the upper part of the sky (2), we make the bottom of these lines lighter by weakening the pressure on the 2H pencil. Make horizontal hatching in the foreground of the water (2), creates the illusion of ripples. Don't forget to delete the horizontal horizon line in the island before you start hatching.

Shade the farthest mountain (shore) (3), which is far away with an HB pencil (press lightly on the pencil). At the island (in which we had to erase the line), we make shadows with HB and 2B pencils, and stroke a small part of it in the foreground with 2B and 4B. Light colors (4) of the island are made with an HB pencil. Take your time. If you start to get tired or feel frustrated, take a break. When you return to the lesson, you will look with fresh eyes and be able to correct what you were unhappy with.

With the HB pencil, draw the reflection of the island in the water (5). The tone is darker than the island itself at this stage. Make hatching lines horizontal, not at an angle. You may find it easier to add hatching lines by turning the drawing (sheet) sideways. We paint over the ground in the foreground (7), we make strokes with a 2B pencil. The author writes that this style of sketching is currently her favorite. However, you are a unique individual with your own preferences. Those. you need to experiment with different techniques in drawing until you find the style that suits you best!

Use a 4B pencil to draw some squiggles in the foreground. These lines will mimic small shrubs and foliage. We draw a trunk.

Add strokes with a 2B pencil along the bottom of the island (6). In the upper part of the island there are light areas, darker below. The author left a tiny horizontal strip of light where the earth meets the water. She also used a sharpened HB pencil to draw some small trees and bushes on the island. We draw the branches of the palm tree with a 2B pencil.

Use sharpened HB and 2B pencils to draw the small branches on the top of the palm tree. The branches that are in the foreground are much darker than those that are further away.

Move away from the drawing and look at the shading. You may need to make some areas lighter or darker. To make it darker, just add extra lines between the other hatch lines. To make it lighter, take a soft rubber band and walk carefully. Sign your name, write the date, and set the drawing aside with a smile.

Don't be afraid to use different hatching methods. You should not draw in a way that you do not like, problems may arise later, you need to look for new methods. If you made even a very terrible drawing, you can repeat the approach again! Keep in mind, the more you practice sketching, the faster and better you will get. On a good day, you can draw several different and wonderful sketches within an hour!

You have practiced the skill of creating a single dot in the center of the drawing. Let's take this idea further and draw a part of the city in frontal perspective where buildings, sidewalks, roads are and seem to dissolve into one point in the distance.

Look again at the picture of the city.

Looks very interesting, right? This is true! And drawing it is much easier than it seems. This lesson will focus on reinforcing a number of drawing laws: size, placement, shading, as well as proportions, additional details and practice.

In drawing, the term "perspective" stands for "create the illusion of depth on flat surfaces". The word "perspective" comes from the Latin word spec, meaning "to see."

1. Draw a horizontal line with reference point in the center.

2. Just as you drew guide lines to determine the position of the ceiling, walls and floor in the previous lesson, draw these lines to determine the location of buildings and the road.

3. Draw a vertical line where the buildings start. Start on the left side. Then draw a vertical line where the buildings will end, also on the left side. Make sure the lines are strictly vertical and parallel to the edges of your notebook. You can use a ruler if you like. When I draw a small frontal illustration, I usually do not use anything, I do it by hand. Try to draw this way and that, both with a ruler and freehand. Which way did you like best?

When you draw with a ruler, the drawing will be uncompromising and precise, while freehand drawing will not look as accurate, but will reflect your individual style. It often happens that someone who starts experimenting with the triangle becomes dependent on this tool. It should be understood that the ruler is just another drawing tool, like feathering. However, you can draw just fine without them.

4. Now do the same on the right side. Draw vertical lines to indicate the position of the buildings.

5. Make sure the top and bottom edges of the buildings match up at the vault in the center.

6. Draw horizontal lines corresponding to the skyline from the top and bottom corners of each building on the left side of the drawing. This is the moment when your drawing becomes voluminous!

7. Now do the same on the right side of the drawing.

8. Draw the road and the median. Shade the shapes of the buildings. Position the light source at the arch point and shade all surfaces facing the opposite direction.

LESSON 23: PRACTICE

In life, you yourself, without knowing it, meet with frontal perspective. For example, when crossing the street or shopping in a supermarket, you notice a neatly arranged island of tin cans. It's really very exciting. ABOUT! Another great place for a frontal perspective is the library! All the books on the shelves are in even rows. Pay attention to this the next time you are in the supermarket or library. It makes the idea frontal perspective crystal clear!

Redraw the lesson again and add some additional details. You can draw doors, windows, neighbors.. Have fun! Picture canopies, a porch, perhaps flower pot or two. True details are the spice of life!

LESSON 23: PRACTICE #2

Why stop there? Why not use the frontal perspective technique in reality and see how it works? Take your easel and go outside. Find a place that is visually interesting. Try to sit down somewhere in the park, on a bench, on a pier... And repeat what you see.

You can also take a suitable photo and use it. Of course, this is not as interesting as a walk, but it will still help you practice frontal perspective perspective.

Dear colleagues! I present to your attention another master class on drawing a winter landscape with children from 6 years old, which can be used when working with younger students. This time it will be a cityscape in the evening. In this regard, I propose to give the children a task in advance: during evening walks or on the way home, so that they pay attention to the color of the sky, houses, the color and shape of cars.

Execution sequence:

The work is done without a preliminary pencil drawing. Place a sheet of paper horizontally.
We start by filling in the sky background. We recall from observations that it is dark in the evening in winter, so we will use dark blue, with the addition of black. We paint over to the middle of the sheet. Maybe a little lower.

Dark blue, with the addition of water, paint over the stripes of the so-called snow. We remind you that it is not white, especially in the dark.

The remaining strip is painted over with black, with the addition of water or white paint to make it gray. This is an asphalt road. It doesn't have to be black.

Preschoolers may have difficulty drawing houses. Therefore, I propose a very simple proven method.
Draw the full width of a large round or flat brush, lines that define the contour of the future house, and the bottom line will be above the asphalt against the background of snow. Please note that the chosen color must be mixed with a drop of black or dark blue. We recall from observations that houses have a dark shade.
The number of houses can be different for everyone, depending on the composition.

We divide horizontally and vertical lines rectangle of the house, getting "window openings".
After that, we begin to carry out another house.

This is how it should turn out.
We leave to dry.

At this time, we outline the outline of the bus. Children can choose their own color. We draw the attention of children to the fact that it needs to be drawn right on the house. Thus it will be clear that he is in the foreground.

We paint over the contour, leaving window openings

In the same way we draw silhouettes of cars. It should be recalled that they size will be smaller compared to the bus. The color and quantity will depend on the desire of the children. Let's dry.

Meanwhile, in the windows, "turn on the lights." Carefully paint over with yellow, it is possible with the addition of red, color

We remember that the lights are on in the bus, but not in the cars. We paint over the windows in the bus yellow, in the cars dark. And black paint the wheels. If desired, you can draw headlights and dimensions and light from them.

We proceed to the image of the lanterns. It's very important to say children so that they draw the first circle of the lantern in the center of the sheet above the bus.

The rest we draw to the right and to the left on equal to distance from each other. Below them we put yellow spots, indicating the incident light.

Let's draw with thin black lines the pillars of lanterns.

Let's draw snow on the roofs of the houses, on the eaves (I say to the children "under each window") and add white highlights on the lanterns.

"Sprinkled with snow" using the "spray" technique. I do this for the children myself while they draw.

If desired, if there is time left in the lesson, we finish drawing the trees.

The finished work can be placed in a frame. Decorate her interior or give as a gift.
