Connecting an on-board computer to a VAZ 2115. Connecting a computer to car systems. General principles for connecting a computer

The first domestic front-wheel drive car was the VAZ 2108. Its creation marked the transition from classic time-tested rear-wheel drive cars to modern cars with front wheel drive.

The benefits of such a transition were obvious. The handling of the car on slippery roads and on sharp turns has increased significantly. The cross-country ability of the car has improved, which made it possible to expand the range of use of the car in the household and everyday life. Comfortable interior, new dynamic engine, “light” steering and good review caused an unprecedented demand of motorists for this car. Serial production of the VAZ 2109 began in 1985 and continued until 2003. During its release, the car was refined several times. Changed it appearance and interior decoration. So, due to its impracticality, the first “short” wing was replaced by a “long” one, which led to further changes in the front of the car. The instrument panel has also been replaced. If the first “eights” were produced with the so-called “low” panel, then it gave way to the “high” “luxury” panel, which already had a tachometer and a block of alarms.

The high popularity of VAZ 2108 and VAZ 2109 ( Lada Samara) led to the fact that since 2003 these cars have been seriously upgraded. The appearance has changed a lot, inside the car began to be equipped with a velor interior, the instrument panel has changed from “high” to a europanel. So a new family of cars VAZ 2113, VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 (Lada Samara 2) appeared. New cars have not lost popularity and have become a worthy continuation of their predecessors.

On-board computers for VAZ 2108, VAZ 2115

With installation injection engines for cars VAZ 2108 and VAZ 2115, on-board computers became in demand, which allowed ECU ( ) of the vehicle for errors with the possibility of resetting them. Some manufacturers such as And installed on their trip computers a function that allows you to adjust the temperature of the fan on (tropical) and the function of burning glow plugs (plasma). Other manufacturers such as Microline (Prestige) and Gamma (Ferrum) emphasized the ease of installation and operation of their device.

In this section you can find on-board computers from any manufacturer, choose and order your favorite BC model. If you have a different car model, then you can for it.

The dashboard of the VAZ-2115 has a predetermined place for subsequent installation on-board computer. In this case, if you need to put a control device in the car, then there is no need to change the design of the torpedo, but it is enough to use the standard socket.

The on-board computer provides the driver with comprehensive information about the following indicators:

  1. Vehicle movement mode.
  2. Gasoline consumption.
  3. The state of the electrical network of the car and so on.

In addition to information capabilities, such a device is capable of diagnosing the state of the internal combustion engine control system. Separate varieties of bortoviks can be put on cars with carburetors. However, for everything to work, an additional installation of a number of sensors will be required.

In the modification of the VAZ-2113, a computer is installed that interacts with the controller of the internal combustion engine control system. Its task is to process all incoming information and display the main indicators on the screen in an understandable form.

Car shops sell today big variety similar devices that differ in their functionality and location in the car.

All functions of the device in question are divided into two parts:

  1. Informational.
  2. Diagnostic.

Seven buttons on the device panel are used to switch on the required operating mode:

  1. Pressing this button tells the computer that the trip has begun. The same element resets the accumulated information in memory.
  2. + and – are designed to adjust the values of various characteristics when the device is in the setup mode, as well as to study information about the state of specific vehicle components.
  3. In addition to displaying functions, the on-board computer can give sound signals when the actual values of the parameters go beyond the maximum allowable limits. It's kind of an alarm.

These are not all the functions of the device in question, but only the main features. Next, we will look at the process of installing a computer in a car.

General principles for connecting a computer

Basically, an on-board computer is an inexpensive device, but quite useful. We have already mentioned this. Now we will consider the process of installing the BC in the car.

If you have not bought a device yet, but are thinking what to choose, pay attention to Multitronics and the State. We will consider the connection process using the example of Multitronics X140. Note that on sale now there is a similar modification, which is equipped with a color display.

Buy an on-board computer in online stores. In the car markets, the cost of such products is often greatly overestimated.

The following wires must be connected to any on-board computer:

  1. Power supply +12 V.
  2. Power when the ignition is turned on to start the computer.
  3. The power that appears when the parking lights are turned on. From this, the BC display will go out at night.
  4. Weight.
  5. Signal from the fuel level sensor. Some device modifications allow you not to connect this wire. Multitronics X140 calculates the remaining gasoline based on instant consumption.
  6. Connect the diagnostic line from the K-Line controller.

For the first four points, a 4-pin block is used, specially designed for connecting the BC. Accordingly, it is enough to connect it with the adapters that come with the computer. If this is not possible, then the first item is connected from the cigarette lighter, the second - from the ignition switch, 3 - from the cigarette lighter backlight. The mass is connected from the body of the same cigarette lighter.

It is very important before any actions with electrical wiring, you need to reset the negative terminal on the battery. This way you protect yourself and the car from short circuits and other troubles. The fuel level sensor signal is taken from the gasoline level indicator. Its location can be found according to the wiring diagram of the machine.

The diagnostic line (K-Line) is connected to the EURO-3 block in the seventh socket.

If the computer comes with an overboard temperature sensor, you won’t need it, since it comes from the factory on the VAZ-2115. The complete meter can be used inside the cabin to know the temperature in the car itself.

Step-by-step installation of a computer on a VAZ-2115

The device will read information from the engine ECU.

  1. Initially, de-energize the car's on-board network - remove the terminals from the battery.
  2. The car already has a place for mounting the BC. All the necessary wiring has already been brought to this place.
  3. After removing the plug, you will see a wiring harness and a plug - plug everything into the appropriate sockets on the computer and secure the panel.
  4. This completes the connection process.

What capabilities should the on-board computer have

In the following list, we present the most important features that every bookmaker should have:

  1. Remaining fuel in the tank.
  2. Battery voltage.
  3. Time.
  4. antifreeze temperature.
  5. Temperature outside.

Additionally, the following options are available:

  1. Average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers.
  2. Engine oil quality.
  3. Worn out spark plugs.

Diagnostic computer Multitronics X140, in addition to the above features, has voice guidance. This function warns the driver in time about various changes in the car. For example, when running out of fuel, the system instantly alerts you if there is less than 5 liters of gasoline left in the tank. In cold weather, the computer reminds you that ice is possible on the road.

According to the reviews of experienced drivers, some people are very annoyed by the backlight of the display when traveling in the evening / at night. But after some time of use, everyone gets used to this device, and driving without it becomes not so convenient.

Diagnostic capabilities of Multitronics x140:

  1. Gasoline consumption while driving and parking.
  2. antifreeze temperature. This indicator allows you to monitor the correct operation of the temperature sensor. It also determines the process of warming up the internal combustion engine.
  3. The voltage of the electrical network of the car in volts. Thanks to this parameter, it is possible to track various malfunctions of the generator, belt slippage and other breakdowns in the on-board system in time.
  4. The tachometer displays the crankshaft speed when the engine is running at idling. If the deviations are significant, this indicates that there are malfunctions in the vehicle's fuel system.
  5. Throttle position. According to this characteristic, it is possible to monitor the health of the sensor (TPPS). In addition, the driver knows about the depth of travel of the gas pedal. When the engine is off, but the ignition is on, when you press the pedal, the indicators should change smoothly from 0 to 100 percent.
  6. Speed. Duplicates a traditional speedometer, but here the readings are more accurate.
  7. Injection system malfunctions.

Thus, the on-board computer in question receives all the diagnostic codes for breakdowns and interprets them on its display in a form understandable to the driver. BC allows you to reset the accumulated information.

Alarm signal - practical or not

Emergency notification in modern computers for cars play an important role. In particular, the driver can be promptly notified of the following:

  1. Motor overheating when the temperature exceeds 115 degrees.
  2. Changes in the electrical network of the car. The signal appears when the voltage drops or exceeds the allowable limits.
  3. Speeding over a pre-set threshold.

Also, on-board computers inform the driver about the need for maintenance. In the process of setting up the computer, indicators are indicated at which it is necessary to change the oil, air filter, and so on.

Installing the on-board computer - Sigma format

Installation of the device in question on the VAZ-2115 is also quite simple:

  1. Disconnect the terminals from the battery.
  2. Remove the landing plug.
  3. Connect the “M” terminal of the diagnostic connector and the backup output of the computer connector with the “K-line” wire.
  4. Next, connect the BC pads to the standard connector of the trip computer.
  5. Connect ground to battery.
  6. Connect the temperature sensor.

To check the correctness of the installation, when the ignition is turned on, the flow parameters will be displayed on the BC display. If not, make sure you have an immobilizer. In its absence, you need to make a jumper between terminals 9 and 18 of the connector.

Summing up the article, we note that the on-board computer on the VAZ-2115 is an excellent assistant that gives the driver a large amount of information about the state of the main components of the car. Regular indicator panels, unfortunately, cannot boast of similar functionality. In this case, additional equipment helps a lot.

If you bought an on-board computer, but have never had experience with car electrics, then it is better to entrust the installation and configuration of the BC to professionals - this will save you time and money.

Take into account the fact that each manufacturer of a quality device completes the product with all the necessary documentation, both for installation and configuration. In the process of performing work, it is recommended that you first of all look at the instructions. The article provides only general recommendations and short review installation of two BCs on the VAZ-2115.

This trip computer is designed for installation on VAZ injection cars of the Lada-Samara and Lada-Samara 2 families (compatible with January 5.1, Bosch M1.5.4 and VS 5.1 Itelma family controllers.

Trip computer functions:

    1. Remaining fuel in the tank:
    Tank filling mode
By pressing the buttons, dial the number equal to the amount of fuel poured into the tank, in liters. The on-board computer will automatically add the value you have entered to the remaining fuel (discreteness "+" 5l, "-" 1l). The maximum value of indications is 50l. This procedure should be carried out after each refueling.
    Correction "Full tank"
When entering this mode, the trip computer BC Shtat 115 Sigma Format will automatically store the value = 43l in memory.
    "Tank calibration" mode
During calibration, the vehicle must stand on a horizontal platform, the engine must be turned on for more than 2 minutes. To carry out calibration, you must know the exact number of liters of fuel in the tank of your car.

    2. Forecast of mileage on the remaining fuel. The parameter is calculated by dividing the remaining fuel in the tank by the average consumption.

    3. Total fuel consumption. The amount of fuel used since the start of the trip. The limit value is 999 liters. When this counter overflows, all other travel counters are also reset.

    4. Fuel consumption per trip. Same as total cost. When resetting the readings, the consumption on the way is saved.

    5. Distance traveled per trip. Mileage per trip. The indication accuracy with a counter value less than 1000 km is 0.1 km, with a larger value - 1 km. The limit value is 5000 km. When this counter overflows, all other travel counters are also reset.

    6. Average fuel consumption per trip. The parameter allows you to determine the economy of the car or your driving style.

    7. Average travel speed per trip. The parameter is calculated by dividing the mileage by the time in motion. If the movement time is less than 1 minute, the parameter is considered undefined.

    8. Travel time. Time per trip during which the car was moving. The limit value is 99 h 59 m. If this counter overflows, all other trip counters are also reset.

    9. Multi display. In this mode, the following functions are simultaneously displayed on the screen: current time, instantaneous fuel consumption, remaining fuel in the tank, air temperature overboard, average fuel consumption, forecast of mileage on the remaining fuel.

Diagnostic tester functions:

    1. Current fuel consumption [l/h or l/100]. When the vehicle is stationary, the parameter is displayed in [l/h], while moving - in [l/100]. Allows you to learn an economical driving style.

    2. Coolant temperature [degrees]. The parameter allows you to monitor the health of the coolant temperature sensor.
Also, many drivers like to watch the engine warm up process.

    3. On-board network voltage [Volt]. The parameter allows you to control minor voltage deviations. This is useful for detecting a slipped alternator belt, monitoring the health of the alternator itself, and other faults in the power supply system.

    4. Tachometer [rpm]. The parameter allows you to control the process of adjusting the crankshaft speed controller to Idling. Large deviations of this parameter during the adjustment process indicate malfunctions in the fuel supply system.

    5. Throttle position. The parameter allows you to control the serviceability of the throttle position sensor (TPS), as well as the depth of the accelerator pedal travel. When you gently press the pedal (it is possible with the engine off, but the ignition on), the readings should change smoothly from 0 to 100 percent.

    6. Speed [km/h]. Duplicate regular speedometer. But the most accurate.

    7. Errors in the injection system. The trip computer retrieves from the controller all the diagnostic trouble codes of the injection system accumulated by it and displays them on the display (with text interpretation), and the computer also allows you to erase them.

Alarm function. If the engine overheats (temperature is more than 115°C), the voltage in the on-board network is unacceptable (less than 10.4 and more than 14.8 Volts) and the set speed threshold is exceeded, the on-board computer beeps and the screen displays the reason for turning on the signaling device.

    1. Engine overheating. When the engine temperature rises above 115°C, the trip computer goes into alarm mode. The on-board computer emits a warning signal. When heated above 115° it is impossible to turn off the signaling device.

    2. Unacceptable voltage of the on-board network. When the voltage goes beyond 10.4-14.8 V with the engine running, the trip computer goes into alarm mode (the on-board computer emits a warning signal).

    3. Exceeding the set speed threshold. If the set speed threshold is exceeded, the trip computer beeps.

Determination of maintenance terms:

    1. Changing the oil of the internal combustion engine. The default replacement interval is set in accordance with VAZ standards and can be adjusted by the driver.
After maintenance, it is recommended to set the replacement frequency in each group. The driver is notified of the occurrence of an event by a text message on the display when the ignition switch is turned on.
Further correct operation of the trip computer is possible ONLY after the disappearance of the text message from the display.

    2. Replacing the air filter.

    3. Replacing the timing belt.

    4. Changing the oil of the variable gear box.

    5. Generator-belt.

Turn on the ignition. When the power is connected correctly, the on-board computer will display the current parameters on the indicator. If it doesn't, check for an immobilizer. Make sure that in the absence of an immobilizer there is a jumper between terminals 9 and 18 of the connector. If there is no jumper between the connector terminals, install it.

If your car has a "high" panel, see the insert for the "high" panel adapter (included in the delivery).

Set the current time, the brightness of the indicator and the remaining fuel in the tank.

On the instrument panel of a VAZ 2115 car, a special socket is provided for installing a trip computer, closed with a plug. We decided to use this place for its intended purpose.

A route or, as it is also called, an on-board or route diagnostic computer is an electronic device that allows the driver to receive information about the vehicle’s driving mode, fuel consumption, voltage in the on-board network and some other parameters. In addition, some models of on-board computers allow one or another volume to carry out diagnostics of the electronic engine control system. It is worth noting that some on-board computers can also be installed on cars equipped with carburetor engines, however, in order for the computer to perform its functions in full, it may be necessary to install additional sensors.

Instruction

For installed devices, instructions for the standard on-board computer are attached. It informs and instructs car owners in detail about what to do in a given situation. Let's talk about how to use the on-board computer. For proper use it is necessary:

- These trip computer are very complex electronic devices, endowed with the ability to perform more than 500 different functional duties. All this requires the driver to carefully study this device. The user manual helps with this. It is good to study it with the information board on;

- Most of the attention when studying, should be given to the icons and symbols of emergency commands.

- The dashboard has buttons that control the operation of the BC. You need to learn and remember the rules of working with them.

When choosing such devices, there are no special requirements for them. The selected model must support programs for ECU4. Today, the cost of an on-board computer VAZ 2114 can be from 1,500 to 4,000 rubles. In online stores you can find even lower prices for these products.

It makes no sense to memorize all possible error codes displayed on the information board. They do not need to be recited by heart as in school. We live in the age of Internet technology, find the designation of these error codes, print it out and take it with you in the car. In the case when you see the symbols on the information board, you can quickly make the right decision. Continue driving or call for technical assistance. Unfortunately, there are times when the on-board computer erroneously issues a danger signal. The culprit in such cases may be some kind of sensor or the processor itself. No one is immune from emerging electronics malfunctions, but in most cases, the scoreboard signals reliable information.

The main possible error codes on this machine will be shown below:

2 - the voltage of the on-board network is exceeded;
3 - problems with the fuel level sensor;
4 - a malfunction with a sensor that monitors the temperature regime of the motor;
5 - incorrect signal from the outdoor air temperature sensor;
6 - signal about an overheated motor;
7 - too low pressure in the car's lubrication system;
8 - problems with the braking system;
9 - battery undercharge.

You should respond to codes 4, 6 and 8, which must be eliminated and only then continue further movement. After elimination, the processor must be rebooted. Errors are reset by pressing and holding the daily run key.

How to connect

In this article, we will consider the process of installing the Prestige on-board computer with the function of diagnosing and reading errors.

For work we need:

Screwdrivers, on-board computer, wire 1m long.

We remove the plug on the central dashboard and look for a 9-pin wiring block in it. This block must be present on all cars of our model. It remains only to connect the block to the computer and that's it, but we need to draw a k-line.

Drivers with a long driving experience may well do without any electronic assistants in the form of navigators, on-board computers, and so on. However, these devices will make life easier for drivers by providing them with more useful information about the car. Well, for beginners, an on-board computer is, in general, an indispensable thing. To date, such electronics are used on many cars of foreign and domestic production, and the VAZ of the fifteenth model is no exception. As you already understood, in this article we will talk about on-board computers.

Which to choose?

Now in many stores you can find a bunch of different electronics, each of which has a particular set of functions. There are no restrictions on the choice here - the functionality of the device is determined by the motorist himself, that is, the future user. However, a modern on-board computer should have at least the following set of functions:

  • Battery voltage.
  • The level of remaining fuel in the tank.
  • Temperature of antifreeze / antifreeze.
  • Current date, time.
  • Air temperature inside and outside.

But the functions of this device do not end there. You can find an on-board computer VAZ 2115 with a built-in measurement option, as well as devices that provide information on the condition and wear of candles. There are also options that provide information on the average and maximum fuel consumption per unit of kilometer. When choosing a device, be sure to test it right in the store (this will protect you from buying fakes and fakes).

Where to install the on-board computer on the VAZ 2115?

It is worth noting a useful thing - in the cabin of this car you do not need to drill and measure the free space under the on-board computer, as the manufacturer took care of this in advance and left a special socket, or rather a plastic plug, where you can easily install our electronic assistant. Another feature is that you do not need to pull and connect wires to the control unit - they are all already connected and installed on the conveyor. Thanks to these two features, installing a computer in the salon will not take more than five minutes.

VAZ 2115 - on-board computer and its installation

So, first you need to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Next, remove the plastic plug and proceed to the connection. After removing the plug, you will see the plug and the wiring harness. These two parts must be connected to the computer itself. There is no definite answer to the question of which socket to connect the VAZ 2115 on-board computer to, since different models (and there are a lot of them) have different connection points.

Therefore, in this case, it is best to use the instructions that should be attached with the product. After the wires are connected to the socket, check the quality of the connection - the plug must not be disconnected when touched. That's it, the VAZ 2115 on-board computer is installed. You can safely start using it.
