Composition: description of the painting by A. Gerasimov "After the rain"

Description of the painting by Makovsky “From the Rain”

A picture of a positive mood.
She pleases and gives a smile even to a very gloomy face.
Thanks to the gaiety and excitement that are conveyed on the canvas in the mischievous look of some children, and in the annoyed that they had to interrupt the fun, others, I boldly decided for myself to consider Makovsky the genius of the portrait.
No one could, in my opinion, express their emotions that infect with their positivity.
At the same time, the landscape is conveyed incredibly picturesquely and believably.
In general, the picture gives the impression of some kind of childish game, which the approaching rain decided to support.

Even after the artist quickly and imperceptibly transferred them to the canvas, they did not stop making noise, screaming, laughing and crying.
Their voices are heard, the splash of water, the breath of a suddenly rising wind is felt, the scene from life is so realistically depicted.
The characters keep moving and talking.
We can safely assume what happened just an hour before this moment, and what will happen next.

On the canvas “From the Rain” I see seven guys who played and did not notice until the last clouds, a cool breeze, birds flying low.
They probably had fun.
They swam in the river, told all sorts of fables.
Therefore, when it was no longer possible to delay, and it was urgently necessary to escape from the approaching cold autumn rain, some were so reluctant to leave that they decided to linger.
The artist openly showed who the ringleader is, whom almost everyone unquestioningly obeys.
Facial expressions are the main characteristic of the boys.
So, in a cheerful look and a sly smile of a tomboy on foreground pictures, guess main character all children's holidays and pranks.
His best friend and the "squire" came today with his little brother.
Which whimpers and either does not want to leave, or does not keep up with running so quickly across the sand for adult children.
Another friend fell.
Rising, he glances doubtfully at those who linger on the shore.
He himself did not fully understand with whom he was more interested.
Maybe he wants to stay? Those who take their time pretend that there is no reason to worry.
But they do not look at the departing guys.
Argued, perhaps? Tomorrow everything will be forgotten, the rain will wash away unpleasant memories, and everyone will gather again on the shore.
They will be fun and interesting to spend time together.

Bright with its emotions, the picture makes you admire and think about the purity of the child's soul, its sincerity and simplicity.
How carefree childhood seems sometimes.
How beautiful the last warm days are.
How simple and understandable the relationship of kids.
Having received real pleasure from the picture, I became infected positive emotions and thoughts.

Description of the painting by Vladimir Makovsky “From the rain”

It's about to rain, and fresh coolness is already spreading in the air. Heavy clouds, harbingers of the coming bad weather, peek out from behind the grove. We need to hurry up and hide! It was about this that the protagonist of the canvas “From the Rain” thought. The face of the boy, placed by Vladimir Makovsky at the very center of the plot, simultaneously expresses many emotions. The young character has a curly head, piercing eyes and plump juicy lips. The boy gives the impression of a cunning, even a little daring, little man. In total, the viewer sees seven guys on the canvas. The three boys, who are at a distance, calmly dress after bathing, being too lazy to put on trousers and shirts once again: in any case, the rain will soak them to the skin. The children are in no hurry to leave the river, clearly wanting to continue water procedures.

But the leader of the flock of guys is obviously determined: it's time to go home. He is not at all afraid of the prospect of being caught in a downpour or even a thunderstorm. Next to the brave man crowds his brave comrade. He tries to drag the stubborn baby from the shore. The boy, not understanding what the sudden change in weather threatens, whimpers. Another little character stuck in the sand. It is possible that he was pushed away for offending the baby. Well, among the boys, such behavior is not uncommon. The rain will pass, and there will be no trace of quarrels. If you look closely, you can see two barely distinguishable figures far in the background. Perhaps these are the girls who decided to avoid the rain much earlier. It is unlikely that they were present among these cocky guys: most likely, the girls preferred swimming in another place. The sky above the runners is still clear and bright, from which the picture has a cheerful look. As serene as the central boy.

The remarkable Russian artist Makovsky Vladimir Yegorovich was born in 1846 in Moscow. From childhood, the boy was surrounded by an atmosphere of creativity, since his father was a representative of the arts. Vladimir Yegorovich has been drawing since childhood and received an excellent education. famous and popular artist made it genre paintings, because in them he emphasized the most small parts which reflected real life ordinary people characteristics of their lives. His paintings are touching, realistic and very expressive.

Of everything creative heritage painter for my essay-description, I will choose a painting called “From the Rain”, created in 1887. This painting is one of the best works artist, it is currently in the Ulyanovsk Art Museum.

First of all, the viewer is struck by the characters that occupy a significant part of the picture: these are peasant children who play merrily by the river on a fine summer day. The artist managed to depict the joy with which the kids enjoyed the warmth, basking on the golden sand, but they are forced to leave, as clouds appeared in the sky, a thunderstorm is approaching. The boys are forced to leave, they understand that they must hurry, because in a thunderstorm it is dangerous near the river. It was this moment that Vladimir Yegorovich Makovsky captured.

We see that four boys are already dressed and are going home to the village, but the rest of the guys are still dressing slowly, they seem not to be afraid of the rain and are not in a hurry at all. The younger boy, pictured on the right, looks very frightened, perhaps the thunder rumbles frightens him, the baby almost cries, but understands that now is not the time to shed tears.

Against his background, the older boy looks quite serious, perhaps he understands the degree of responsibility and knows that he must take the children away from the river as quickly as possible. The facial features of a teenager Makovsky conveys most vividly: curly tousled hair, an inquisitive and piercing look, snub nose and bright, expressive lips. He smiles slightly, perhaps because he rejoices in responsibility, or maybe so that the younger ones stop being afraid and crying. He rushes his friends. From this haste, one of the boys falls on the sand and turns to his friends. But no one pays attention to him, everyone is busy with their own thoughts, of course, he will have to get up and go along with everyone from the river.
Boys on background at the very water they are reluctantly going home, they are fearless, and perhaps they hope that the storm will pass by.

All the actions of the boys take place against the backdrop of a beautiful Russian landscape. The artist shows us wide expanses native nature. The light sandy shore contrasts with bright, lush greenery, which looks even fresher before a thunderstorm. Low trees and shrubs along the coast allow the viewer's gaze to go into the distance, demonstrating the infinity of the Russian land. The cloudy sky on the horizon makes this green sea even brighter. The sun, hidden by gray clouds, drops its rays to the ground and they pierce it like arrows.

The canvas does not look static at all, everything in it moves: both the boys and nature. The artist even managed to convey the gusts of wind that drove the thunderclouds and slightly agitated the smooth surface of the river. Makovsky depicted an ordinary moment in their life as peasant boys, but this is precisely what causes admiration and surprise among the audience, shows us that the extraordinary can be found in the simplest things.

Famous works Soviet artist A. M. Gerasimov belong to the realistic direction in fine arts. In his creative piggy bank there are many portraits, still lifes and landscapes. Gerasimov's landscapes are simple at first glance, but in each of them something is found that touches the soul and is remembered for a long time by the viewer. The painting "After the Rain" is different from other works of the artist.

Contemplation of the painting "After the Rain" gives rise to a feeling of invigorating novelty in the soul of every viewer. washed by the rain the world looks brand new and this one A New Look on familiar things allows you to discover the amazing not only in everyday reality, but also in your own soul.

Description and analysis

In 1935, Gerasimov went to rest and retire for creativity to his homeland in the city of Kozlov. This is where the much-loved painting was created.

The painting "After the Rain" was painted spontaneously, literally in one breath. However, it is not a momentary creation. The artist has been preparing himself for the creation of this work for a long time. He made sketches from nature of foliage, grass and various items wet from the rain. Gerasimov's acquaintances admitted that this experience was especially good for him.

Sister Gerasimova in her memoirs described the process of creating a picture: that day a heavy summer rain began. After him, everything around looked especially picturesque and fresh - the water, shimmering with colors in the sun, sparkled on the floor of the veranda, foliage and paths; above the trees was a cloudless, rain-washed sky.

Delighted by the view that opened, the master grabbed the palette and stood at the easel. In a matter of hours, he painted a most picturesque canvas, which became one of his most successful creations. After exhibiting the picture at various opening days along with his other works, Gerasimov noted with some surprise that it was she who enjoyed special attention from the audience.

Why is this light poetic work so attractive to the average viewer? The painting depicts at first glance an ordinary landscape - a corner of a veranda with carved railings and a small bench along them.

On the right, slightly disturbing the compositional balance, the artist placed an old table and a vase of flowers. On the left plan we see the floor, as well as the bench and the railing of the veranda. Drops of water glitter and shimmer on all the objects depicted. Just beyond the veranda, a garden is visible, wet from a recent downpour.

The colors in the picture are crystal clear and major - the juicy green of wet foliage, the dark bronze of wet wood, the sky blue reflected in the puddles spilled on the floor of the veranda. A bouquet of flowers in a vase is highlighted with a separate color accent - intense pink color successfully combined with green and white strokes.

The picture does not cause a feeling of far-fetchedness. The images created by the artist are fresh and truthful, distinguished by ease and purity - they feel the virtuosity of the painter's brush. What is the cause of such amazing authenticity?

When working on the painting, Gerasimov used a highly refined technique of reflexes. This pictorial technique involves careful study of small, but important details compositions.

In the case of the painting “After the Rain”, the key points, thanks to which a special state of freshness and purity is achieved, are reflections of light and reflections: juicy green strokes on the walls of the veranda are reflections of green foliage; the pink and blue spots on the table are reflections left on a wet surface by a bouquet of flowers.

The entire painting is as if permeated with intricate interlacings of light and shadow. At the same time, the shadow areas do not cause an oppressive feeling in the viewer, since they are made in many colors and colorfully. There are a lot of silver and mother-of-pearl shades in the picture - in this way the artist conveys numerous sun glare on wet foliage and wet surfaces of objects. While working on creating the pictorial effect of wet surfaces, the artist applied the glazing technique. In the process of using this technique, the paint is applied to the canvas in several layers. The first stroke is the main one, the subsequent ones are light translucent strokes. As a result, the surfaces depicted appear shiny, as if varnished. This is especially noticeable when considering the fragments of the picture, which depict sections of the plank floor, a bench, a table top.

A bouquet of flowers in the form of a contrasting bright spot is painted with accentuated wide pasty strokes, thanks to which the flowers in a vase look voluminous and natural.

Properly placed light accents also deserve attention. They make the image on the canvas alive and a little solemn. Light sources are located outside the plane of the canvas - somewhere behind the trees. The light in the picture is diffused, dim, it does not hit the eyes, which creates the effect of the summer sun peering through the clouds, which has crossed the midday line and began to decline.

The trees depicted in the background seem to be woven from a huge number of stained-glass windows flickering with greenish hues. They are illuminated along the contour and thus stand out from the overall composition. IN this case Gerasimov successfully used a special technique called in fine art backlight - backlight reverse side Images.

The picture is dominated by a fresh high spirits. The artist managed to reliably convey the poetry and special charm of the most ordinary things.

The sincerity of feelings that Gerasimov managed to express in his work charges the viewer with a special energy of freshness. For this picture, the master was awarded the Grand Prix at an exhibition in Paris. Later, the artist recalled with what enthusiasm he worked on the creation of this canvas. Perhaps that is why the work turned out to be so delightful and truthful.

A picture of a positive mood. She pleases and gives a smile even to a very gloomy face.
