Mariupol Museum of Local Lore is the first state museum in the Donetsk region and the most major museum in the Sea of ​​Azov. It was founded in February 1920 by the city department of public education of the Mariupol Revolutionary Committee. The first exposition of the museum of local lore was created in 1920. The main activities of the museum are: research, exposition, fund, collection and scientific and educational.

Since 1937, the Mariupol Museum, having acquired the status of a regional one, became known as the "Donetsk Regional Museum of Local Lore in the city of Mariupol." In 1950, the regional museum of local lore was founded in the city of Stalino (now Donetsk) and the status of a museum of local importance was returned to Mariupol.

To date, the exposition fund of the Mariupol Museum of Local Lore consists of seven halls, which store more than 50,000 exhibits, including material, pictorial, written (printed and handwritten), numismatic, archaeological, photo-documentary, natural and others. The museum collection contains a collection of numismatics and paper banknotes different countries. Art Museum. Kuindzhi is located in the city of Mariupol, in the Donetsk region. It was created in honor of the 100th anniversary of the death of the painter A. I. Kuindzhi, on October 29, 2010. The museum is located in a building built at the beginning of the last century, in the Art Nouveau style.

The museum's collection includes 650 paintings, 150 sculptures, 960 graphic works, more than 300 works of applied art.

On the first floor, in three spacious halls, there are exhibits, dedicated to creativity and the life of Kuindzhi. These are documents, photographs, furniture and letters.

Azov maritime museum- one of the treasures of both Mariupol itself and the entire Donetsk region. The museum bears the name of its creator, V.A. Pavliy, the first assistant to the captain of the ships of the foreign voyage of the Azov Shipping Company.

The museum, located in the premises of the Azov Maritime Institute, acquaints tourists with the history of the fleet, presents to the court of visitors various materials and exhibits, starting from the era of Peter I and ending with modern marine souvenirs from around the world.
