Pereslavl-Zalessky State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve. Within the walls of the Goritsky Monastery

Winter is trying to cling to the autumn ground with a light snowball. AND winter pictures are already in front of my eyes. I still remember. We posted it with oumnique , but some beautiful moments remained unpublished.
For example, local history museum in the Goritsky monastery. The exhibition of objects from the surrounding noble estates is remembered.

This is not a re-creation of the situation, as is sometimes practiced in museums, these are the most authentic things.

What a double gothic chair! Just like the double throne of Tsars Ivan and Peter.

The website of the museum-reserve reports: The exposition contains art treasures and household items from the destroyed noble estates of the Pereslavl district, part of what M.I. Smirnova and V.E. Elkhovsky managed to save from looting and destruction in the 1920s. It is a pity that there is no information - from which estates the items were collected.

Memorial exposition of F.I. Chaliapin, who was in the vicinity of Pereslavl at a luncheon with the artist Korovin and visiting Poluboyarinov, and then he himself bought a dacha in Rakhutino, from where some things were transported to the museum.

Also in the museum are samples of folk crafts.

The art museum has paintings by Chaliapin's friend Konstantin Korovin.

As a child, I remember something like this apron, kept by my grandmother.

The sledding season has begun!

Local history and Art Museum are located in the building of the religious school and the refectory chamber of the Goritsky monastery.

Assumption Goritsky Monastery was founded in the XIV century, presumably during the time of Ivan Kalita. In 1382 he was ruined by Tokhtamysh, then restored at the expense of Grand Duchess Evdokia, wife of Dmitry Donskoy. In 1744, in connection with the formation of the Pereslavl diocese, the Assumption Goritsky Monastery was to become a cathedral and underwent a major restructuring. However, in 1788 the Pereslavl diocese was abolished, material and financial resources were taken to St. Petersburg, city institutions (court, treasury, magistrate) were located in the buildings, the Assumption Cathedral became the city parish church. In 1881, the territory of the monastery was revived, a spiritual school was opened here. In 1919, the local history museum was opened.

On the left is a white temple - the Church of All Saints, built in 1670-1700. Right - Cathedral of the Assumption Holy Mother of God, 1750-60

To the right - the Church of the Epiphany with a bell tower 1760-70.

Pereslavl-Zalessky is located on the shores of the blue pearl of Zalesye - Lake Pleshcheyevo. The unique earthen ramparts of the 12th century have been perfectly preserved in the city. Their length is about 2.5 km., Height up to 10 m. In the center of the rampart ring on the Cathedral (now Red) Square stands the white-stone Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior (1152 - 1157) - ancient monument Vladimir-Suzdal architectural school, the tomb of the Pereslavl princes. Next to the cathedral is the Church of Peter the Metropolitan (1154) - a magnificent example of ancient Russian tent architecture.
Among the rarest monuments of ancient Russian artistic culture belongs to the Trinity Cathedral of the Danilov Monastery. In 1662 - 1668 it was painted with frescoes by the artel of the outstanding icon painter Gury Nikitin. Now the cathedral is in the joint use of the monastery and the museum.
In the historical part of the city, several civil buildings of the 19th - early 20th centuries stand out. These are merchant mansions, gymnasium buildings, schools, factory buildings. Among them there are interesting examples of Art Nouveau style.
IN beautiful place, in the old part of the city, in the Rybatskaya Sloboda, at the mouth of the river. Trubezh, stands the Church of the Forty Martyrs, built at the end of the 18th century.
At 4 kilometers from the city on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo there is a branch of the museum - the famous estate "Botik". Here, in late XVII century, young Peter I built a "funny" flotilla that laid the foundation for the Russian navy. The only ship that has survived to this day is the boat "Fortuna", exhibited in a building specially built for it in 1803.
On the northeastern shore of the lake, earthen ramparts of the annalistic predecessor of Pereslavl, the city of Kleshchina, have been preserved. Not far from the Kleshchinsky complex, almost at the very water, there is the legendary "Blue Stone" - a pagan deity - a huge gray-blue boulder

Pereslavl Museum-Reserve is located in Yaroslavl region. It was founded in the middle of the 18th century in the buildings of a former monastery. The article describes the history of the Pereslavl-Zalessky Museum-Reserve, as well as tells about the monuments that are located on its territory.

Goritsky monastery

In the XIV century, a monastery was built on the territory of the modern Pereslavl Museum-Reserve. historical information little is known about him. It is known that in the Middle Ages he owned the villages of Voskresenskoye, Yermolovo, Kruzhkovo, Ilinskoye and others. In the twenties of the XVIII century there was a fire in which the archive burned down. In the fifteenth century, Saint Daniel, the founder of the Holy Trinity Monastery, served in this monastery for thirty years. There is no other information about this temple. In 1744 it was closed and converted into the estate of the then bishop. Forty years later, the estate was closed.

For many decades, the former monastery was in a deplorable state. The vast territory was overgrown with grass, was covered with piles of garbage. Among the objects that are part of the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve, only the gate, the southern fence and the Church of All Saints belong to XVII century. However, the temple underwent a complete reconstruction and lost its original appearance.

Foundation of the museum

The collection of collections for the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve began a few months before its opening, which took place in 1919.

In the 1920s, art treasures that had once been in estates and monasteries were brought to the museum. During this period, everything that belonged to the temples was nationalized. A few years after the revolution, the museum also received a collection of paintings confiscated from the merchant Sveshnikov. The opening date of the museum-reserve is May 28. The art gallery, local history and art departments were located in the building of the former religious school, which was located on the territory of a simplified monastery. This educational institution was closed under Catherine II.

In the early thirties, the local history movement ceased to fit into the official ideology. The corresponding departments in the museum-reserve were closed. Many local historians were sent into exile. M. Smirnov, an employee of the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve, did not escape this fate.

The museum center has been performing political and educational functions for many years. A new director was appointed, who previously worked as an ordinary worker at the Red Echo factory and had no knowledge of either history or local history. In one of the reports on the work of the museum, he named this complex, which previously included valuable works of art, "forge of proletarian art". What the director meant by this phrase is unknown, but on long years the museum, like other institutions in the Soviet Union, was an instrument of ideological propaganda.

The heyday of the Pereslavl-Zalessky Museum-Reserve in Soviet period came in the fifties. Traveling exhibitions were organized in the clubs and libraries of the city, at which samples of exclusively Soviet art kept in the reserve. During these years, the museum's collection is replenished with new expositions that fully meet the spirit of the times.

Some time on the territory of Pereslavl-Zalessky state museum there was a photo exhibition. In addition, a series of postcards was issued, intended primarily for guests of the city. The photographs depicted picturesque Pereslavl landscapes, ancient monuments architecture.

On the territory of the reserve today there is a huge apple orchard. It was founded by museum staff in the fifties. This event, of course, pursued not only aesthetic goals. Quite rare frost-resistant varieties of pears and apples grew here. Every year, museum staff collected several hundred kilograms of fruits.

After the end of the war, a new hall dedicated to the participants of the Second World War was opened in the museum-reserve. Portraits of Budyonny, Stalin, Vasilevsky, Konev were placed on the walls. However, they did not stay here for long. A year after the opening of the hall dedicated to the Great Patriotic war, the museum-reserve accepted a collection of paintings by one of the local artists as a gift. Every year the number of excursions increased. And in 1957, the widow of Mikhail Prishvin donated the writer's personal belongings to the reserve.

What does Pereslavl-Zalessky reserve look like today? What are the reviews about this unique museum area?

"Silver pantry"

The museum has many interesting exhibitions. Among the expositions, it is worth mentioning the "Silver Pantry", which contains a large number of works of Russian arts and crafts. Here you can see jewelry made in the sixteenth century. They were miraculously saved in the twenties of the last century. The exposition "Silver Pantry" was opened in the late eighties. And twenty years later, the collection was supplemented by the works of Moscow goldsmiths and silversmiths. The entrance fee to this section of the museum is 100 rubles.

"Wreath to estates"

This exhibition is dedicated to the staff of the museum, thanks to which many collections were preserved in the early twenties. Here are stored both family portraits and household items that were taken from nearby estates almost 100 years ago. Most of the collection was preserved thanks to the first museum workers - Smirnov and Elkhovsky. The price for this room is also 100 rubles.

"Old Russian painting"

This collection includes paintings created in the 15th-19th centuries. It is worth emphasizing once again that most of the cultural monuments that museum visitors can see today have been preserved thanks to a small number of enthusiasts, professional art historians and amateurs who saved valuable exhibits at their own risk in the early 1920s.

Pereslavl-Zalessky in ancient times was the center of icon painting. Many craftsmen worked here, few of whose works, fortunately, have survived to this day. They painted icons not only for churches located in this city, but also for Moscow monasteries. The exhibition "Old Russian Painting" includes works created by Fedot Protopopov, as well as representatives of the Kazarinov icon-painting dynasty. Entrance - 160 rubles.

"Russian painting of the 18th-20th centuries"

The foundation of this collection was laid in the middle 19th century. It mainly consists of paintings owned by the merchant Sveshnikov. Namely, the paintings of Shishkin, Kamenev, Dubovsky, Polenov. According to reviews of the Pereslavl-Zalessky Museum-Reserve, this exposition is one of the most interesting. Moreover, visitors assure that not only paintings by famous artists are worthy of attention, but also works related to the genre of provincial portrait created in the 18-19th centuries. The entrance fee to this hall is 160 rubles.

Branches

Today, more than eighty exhibits have been collected here. Exhibitions devoted to icon painting, wooden sculpture, Russian painting are open. The address of the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve: Museum lane, house 4. One of the exhibition halls is located on Rostovskaya street, house 10. The museum includes the Transfiguration Cathedral, the Ganshin Estate Museum, the Boat of Peter I Museum-Estate, an art gallery Kardovsky.

Transfiguration Cathedral

In the northeastern part of Russia, among the white-stone monuments, this temple is the most ancient. The thickness of the walls is about one meter. The appearance of this one-domed temple is rather restrained, strict. The history of the Transfiguration Cathedral begins in the middle of the XII century. Then it was painted with frescoes. Probably had a more festive look. But during the restoration carried out in the 90s of the 19th century, the frescoes were removed and placed in a box. There they were stored for many years in absolute disarray.

From a historical point of view, this cathedral is quite interesting. And not only because it is one of the most ancient white-stone temples. Many princes were baptized here, including Alexander Nevsky, who, as you know, was born in Pereslavl.

Boat of Peter I

According to one version, this museum is the oldest in Russia. It is a branch of the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve and is located in the village of Veskovo. At the end of the 17th century, Peter I founded a shipyard on the territory of the future museum. Here boats were built for sailing on Lake Pleshcheyevo. The opening of the flotilla was accompanied by a grandiose celebration. This event was the first step towards the creation of the fleet. The ships, unfortunately, did not survive. The only boat made by the king himself has survived to this day.

Museum-estate of the Ganshins

Here once was the estate of representatives of a well-known merchant family in Pereslavl. But the building became famous thanks to Vladimir Lenin, who created his next opus here. In 1894, the future revolutionary here reflected on the fate of the proletariat. And sixty years later, employees of one of the local factories installed a commemorative plaque on the estate. In the early nineties, like other museums, the estate was closed. Serious restoration work was required, which was not included in the plans of local authorities. Museum exhibits have been preserved thanks to a small number of enthusiasts.

Museum in the 1950s

Museum staff organized traveling exhibitions in clubs and libraries of collective farms in the Pereslavl region. In the lobby of the museum, the exhibition "Exhibits received by the museum lately" was constantly working.

The Museum and Local Lore Council constantly worked at the museum, which included not only museum employees, but also ordinary local historians. The teacher A. V. Valedinsky, the land surveyor N. A. In the showcases were the personal belongings of the Heroes Soviet Union V. A. Kotyunin, N. I. Nakolaev and V. V. In the same 1951, the Pereslavl Museum received a generous gift from Olga Ludwigovna Della-Vos-Kardovskaya: 50 paintings by her and her husband Dmitry Nikolaevich Kardovsky. The experience of sheep breeders was illustrated by a modern shearing machine.

In 1956, the Pereslavl House of Creativity of the Artistic Fund of the USSR was opened, in the early years it was designed for painters. The museum funds received a jacket, a homespun robe, wooden shoe lasts and three long-playing gramophone records with a recording of the stories of M. M. Prishvin performed by the author.

In 1957, the Department of Nature of the Pereslavl Territory was transferred from the first floor of the extension (that is, from the building of the religious school) to another room, and the halls of the first floor were given to the art gallery. Re-exposure has begun art gallery. Art historian I. Ya. Boguslavskaya and restorer N. N. Pomerantsev participated in the construction of the new art exposition.

In the same year, the department of nature was opened again. It was shown here geological history Lake Pleshcheeva, its inhabitants - herons, ducks, gulls, 16 species of fish. Gemmelman, herbariums of medicinal plants of local forests and fields, collected by doctor G. A. Kartashevsky. However, in the new halls, the area of the department of nature has halved. Now the exposition of the department promoted the active change of nature, showed the Michurin varieties offered for Pereslavl gardeners, and talked about the agronomic technologies of Academician Lysenko.

In 1959 the museum celebrated its 40th anniversary. By this year, the museum occupied 45 exhibition halls with a total area of 2,000 square meters. There were four departments: an art gallery, a department of nature, a department of the history of the region and a department of the history of the Soviet period.
