Composition-description of the painting by Mikalojus Čiurlionis “Friendship. Friendship - Čiurlionis M.K Painting by Čiurlionis friendship artistic meaning

Manuella Lojowska

Unearthly woman in outer space. Her face is soulful and gentle, her eyelids are slightly open, on her head there is a crown of many golden rays - they are like antennas that capture the mysterious sounds of the cosmos.

In her hands is a glowing ball. Its radiant light triumphs, illuminating the cosmic darkness. But what is this darkness? Space is full of bright points and rays. They fold into unformed human faces, and many shining eyes look at us with love and hope for friendship...

The artist and musician Mikalojus Čiurlionis gave the name “Friendship” to this picture, drawn with pastel on paper, and presented it to Broneslav Wolman. She was a sincere admirer of his talent and a good friend, in Hard time more than once came to the aid of the artist and saved many of his paintings from death. Not one of my own musical composition(among them the symphony "Sea") Čiurlionis dedicated to Broneslava and her youngest daughter Galina.

The cosmic symphony of light - and for some reason I really want to call this picture that way - attracts with its beauty: the female face is beautiful, the fragile luminous ball in her hands is beautiful, outer space is beautiful, full of light and harmony. But there is another beauty, and it also attracts to itself. “There must be something in the picture that is not in it,” wrote cosmist artist Pyotr Fateev. “Be able to see the great sky,” said Nicholas Roerich. As if following these tips, Čiurlionis reveals to us the beauty behind the images embodied in the picture, the beauty of the Secret: the Secrets of the Universe and the Secrets of Man.

The unearthly woman seems to want to say: "The most precious thing I have, I give you." The most precious thing she has is Light. But he lives in the soul of every person. After all, everything comes out of the Light, and everything returns to the Light. Isn't that our calling in the world: to be luminous?

Primordial silence spills over the entire canvas, and it seems that there is nothing in the world but this mysterious space. And Sveta. And the soul breaks out of the bustle Everyday life and starts to remember.

She recalls that Friendship, like Love, is the calm grandeur of unearthly forces. And they invite us to be together. And following the words of Čiurlionis: “I will fly to very distant worlds, to the lands of eternal beauty, the sun, fairy tales, to an enchanted country ... I travel along the distant horizons of the world grown in myself,” the soul recalls the fabulous land of dreams where they live only beautiful people with an open mind and good heart. The same as the artist himself, about whom they said: "He radiates light around him."

"Friendship" is a reflection on the desire of people for happiness, for brotherhood, for quiet, mysterious, fabulous beauty. We need it like the sun, like air, like joy. By it we unite, we pray, we win. It makes us cleaner, brighter, kinder: “From beautiful images we go to beautiful thoughts, from beautiful thoughts to beautiful life"So Plato said. And then the light separates from the darkness and there is hope that we will keep our "cosmic house" afloat in the ocean of the Universe.

M.-K. Ciurlionis

Land and sea, mysterious starry depths and the radiance of the sun, fabulous beliefs and folk tales... The paintings and music of the great artist and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis are filled with all this. It seems unusual, but most likely it is unusual. He belongs to those who lead, giving scope to our imagination. Romantic fantasy, the power of genius was admired by many great creators. Creativity M.K. Čiurlionis is the greatest hymn to nature, space, and the inquisitive human mind.

M.K. Čiurlionis was born on July 22, 1875 in Druskininkai. His father was a peasant from the breed of "eccentrics". As an adult, he learned music. From the age of six, M.K. Čiurlionis began to study music and played the organ in the church. At the age of 11, he gets to play in the orchestra of the princes Oginsky. Mikhail Oginsky, the grandson of the famous Oginsky, saw talent in the boy and helped him make music.

At the age of 18, M.K. Čiurlionis goes to Warsaw to study at the conservatory. The Oginskys undertook to pay for the education. Here he is seriously engaged in music, but also in philology, natural sciences. He studies the alphabet, the writings of the Phoenicians, Chaldeans, Assyrians, invents his own alphabet. No wonder in his paintings we see signs of some mysterious writings. Get acquainted with geography, geology, chemistry, physics. He writes many piano pieces and performs them brilliantly himself. At the age of 23 in 1899 he graduated from the Warsaw Institute of Music. Čiurlionis' music is transparent, fragile, concentrated and restrained. In the Čiurlionis Museum, his music is always heard. After the conservatory, he is offered to take the place of director in Ljubljana - big city. But at the age of 25, he writes in his diary words that strike us as a prediction come true.

“After all, I imagined happiness as close and possible, but I decided: I won’t be happy. It's as true as dying. Too easily vulnerable, too, I take everything close to my heart; I don't like strangers and I'm afraid of them; I can't live among them. Money does not attract me, need awaits me. I doubt my vocation and achieve nothing. I will be, as it were, on the ruins of my unfinished castle, the image of which lies deep in my soul.

Love for the girl who loved him tenderly and passionately did not bring him happiness, she was married off as a rich widower. But the image of first love forever entered the music and paintings of the artist.

And so is 1901. Čiurlionis is 25 years old. He has ten years left to live. And since that time, as if drawn by someone's imperious determination, M.K. Čiurlionis begins to change dramatically. It's different every 2-3 years. He is most often thoughtful, even timid. Favorite words: Don't get angry... He starts to indulge in drawings for fun.

Excerpts from the letter:

"Bought some paints and a canvas. I suppose you'll say that the canvas could be used for something else. My dear, I also feel guilty about these spent stamps, but I must have some entertainment for the holidays."

"He painted the sea, where ships disappear in the distance, but since the water came out too green, he crossed it out a couple of times, turned the sea into a meadow with a brush, and the ships into lips, and he has a Lithuanian village."

The brothers have grown up. Already three of them in Warsaw, Čiurlionis undertook to support them, exhausting himself, running around the lessons, starving himself, having the only shoes with holes.

Month after month, he begins to study the art of painting. The albums are full of sketches, figures, studies, etc. He did not take care of his paintings, he gave them away, so now many of his paintings are in different countries. In 1903 he paints his first oil painting Music of the Forest.

The picture is simple, its images are clear: Vertical tree trunks are crossed by a curved branch, which creates a semblance of a harp in a vague hand, depicts the wind playing the harp.

And again Čiurlionis to learn. Now at the art academy.

In 1903 he paints the painting "Peace"

She leaves an enchanting impression on all who see her. The reproduction conveys the calm immovable grandeur of the island sprawled over the sleeping waters, which is so similar to a tailed animal. Two eyes? - fishing fires? - they look somewhere into space, fascinate attract the eye. This is also a game of nature: the familiar outlines of hills, stones, this is a fairy tale about a sea animal and a miraculous yudo fish whale.

In 1905, he creates a series of works from a hundred conceived (13 written) - "The Creation of the World."

The colors of Čiurlionis vibrate enthusiastically, they are transparent. So in the first picture there is cosmic dust, a strange fog. In others, unknown extensions, surprising in form and color.

Čiurlionis "Sonata of the Sun"

Allegro - the sun, planets appear from chaos. "Sonata of the Sun" - a silhouette of an "architectural" composition, a silhouette of a flying bird, a solar circle with rays, a row of trees. All this is given in an extremely generalized, abstract manner, so that each of these images is perceived as a sign, and not an “object”. Visual memory easily remembers these images-signs, and then the contemplation of the picture turns into a kind of combination game, which is played by the consciousness, which involuntarily notes repetitions, transformations, increases and decreases of the same signs, their imposition on each other, "penetration" into each other. These iconic combinations, given in the "morning" harmony of foggy silhouettes and golden suns, are combined with a background similar in color (yellowness of an unpainted sheet and a faint blue tint of clouds and nebulae around the suns). The image of “fading suns” becomes a kind of transformation of the sign “sun” - these are suns with dark rays (in the gate openings in the lower part of the picture), as well as the combination of vanishingly small suns, also “fading”, with the wings of flying birds into one graphic whole (in the upper left part). Returning again for comparison to the Fugue, you can see that the composition of the Allegro is solved in the same way as the left part of the Fugue (from the left edge to the vertical passing through a large spruce). This coincidence, although, of course, reflects a certain specificity, a subjective property of the artist's graphic thinking, is also a very fruitful technique, which can be called the technique of "polyphonic implementation of the theme." The weighted bottom, the movement from this “heavy” diagonally up and the transition to the light upper horizontal form, as it were, a kind of formal triad, complete in itself. In Allegro, this triad is accompanied by a flight of radiant disks, a happy artistic discovery that is meant to be something like a modulation from minor to major. I must make a reservation here. Understanding all the conventionality of direct pictorial and musical analogies, I still do not think that they sound here only as metaphors. It is precisely the meticulous constructiveness of the solutions of such works as Fugue or the now described Allegro that makes us assert with great confidence that Čiurlionis deliberately and thoughtfully built his compositions according to the functional principles of music.

The final

"Sonata of the Sun" is a joyful hymn to the life-giving power of solar heat. But the finale of the sonata is dramatic. Dead silence. Everything is immersed in stillness. It has not rang for a long time, the bell depicted in the picture is overgrown with cobwebs. His tongue hung lifelessly. Perhaps the artist is pursuing in this work the idea that every life (both the life of a person and the life of a luminary) goes through such basic phases as birth, heyday, death. And yet Čiurlionis leaves us hope. A small radiant sun woke up on the bell. The time will come when the new huge world be born under its life-giving rays.

"Sonata of the Sea".

Now imagine the Sonata of the Sea. The first of the pictures.

The construction of this painting is visible. The same three images, but only as if drawn on transparent glass and combined. In one picture, in one space - three different pictures. View of the coast from a bird's eye view. The shore is visible. The distant hills are visible. The trees growing on these distant hills are very small, appearing very small from high altitude. A small network of waves is visible. Like from a plane when it flies up to a city on the coast. This is one picture. The second - through the eyes of a man who went, say, knee-deep into the water. At arm's length, several outstretched arms - waves, shadows of birds, silhouettes of fish swimming near the coast. This is a completely different view of the same stretch of sea and coast. Finally, the third picture is the subsystems of the sea. The sea is made up of droplets. And all over the screen are yellow drops of the sea. The picture, especially not on a reproduction, but in kind, it is amazing. It seems that everything is simple separately, but the result is somehow magical, bewitching. Six thousand paintings, including sketches, were painted by Aivazovsky about the sea. But there is a sea through the eyes of a photographer. If you want, a talented, but a photographer! Here the image of the sea is such, which has never been seen in the world of painting. I was surprised why the droplets are yellow. Only the power of art can create such a predictive picture. Čiurlionis is a very strong artist. He is an experimenter. He was constantly testing new techniques, new ways of reflecting the world.

Pay attention to the third picture "Sonata of the Sea".

A large wave is deployed like a giant mouth, some kind of monster. This is a kind of challenge to the great Japanese artist Hokusai. Hokusai has his most famous painting called The Great Wave. You have probably seen it on numerous reproductions. It is arranged like this: boats with small figures of rowers who have thrown their oars and bent down to the bottom. Two gigantic waves are the paws of some kind of predator. The claws are made of foam. Now everything will close - and the boats will sink. But here is the task for the artist - how to show that the wave is really very big? To draw a big wave and small boats is not enough. This is enough for boats, but not enough for art. Hokusai did the following - he painted the horizon and Fujiyama. Fujiyama - sacred mountain for every Japanese. Controversy: Fujiyama (five-kilometer) must be higher than the waves - for plausibility. And Fujiyama must be smaller than the waves in order to strike fear into the viewer. The contradiction is resolved by observing the laws of perspective: Fujiyama is very far away, it seems smaller. For a Japanese, this is a shocking sight - a wave overwhelms Fujiyama - this is the end of the world!

What did Čiurlionis do? Hokusai's painting is all airy, all built on foam. Čiurlionis defiantly did the opposite. He turned those waves. He made one bigger and made it seem to petrify. He made the foam petrify as well. The foam froze, and a new artistic effect turned out: now this heavy avalanche of stone will fall on a person, not foam claws, but heavy, rough, giant pieces of solidified lava.

The final

Čiurlionis faced the task of the highest difficulty in painting - to show the infinity of the universe. This is a level 6 or 7 task. There are practically no stars in the picture. They are here in one narrow path at the top of the picture. From the left edge to the right edge there is a small brown path - and there are stars on it. Star Trek. An angel walks along this path. If you believe in God, then you will understand why the angel is walking. And why not a simple angel, but a tired angel. An angel, according to religious rules, is an intangible being. An angel cannot get tired, cannot wear out. If an angel in the middle of the star road is tired ... For religious person this is the same as for the Japanese Fujiyama below the waves. For a religious person, this is a symbol of infinity - the boundless length and severity of the star road.

There is definitely some magic in real art.

M.K. Čiurlionis was friends with only a few people, but friendship for him is self-giving, self-sacrifice. This is friendship and love.

Čiurlionis. Friendship

Painting "Friendship" Luminous ball on outstretched hands. A sharply defined, but calm and soft profile, illuminated by the radiance emanating from the ball, is an image of friendship. This is a stopped moment:

Here, take it; take everything I own; all that is light for me!

In the calm profile of his beautiful eyelids, in the soft outstretched arm, there is no sudden impulse; the light of friendship seems to shine endlessly, so that the desire of people to go to each other would never dry out. A high headdress adorns the profile. What is this? - crown? - hairstyle? Headdress of an ancient Egyptian queen?

Here are the poems of M.K. Čiurlionis, how he understands love

Love is the sunrise
The afternoon is long and hot
the evening is quiet and wonderful.

And his homeland is longing.
Love is an old song.
Love is a rainbow swing
suspended from white clouds.
Love is a moment of brilliance
all suns and all stars.
Love is a bridge of solid gold
across the river of life that separates
shores of good and evil.
Love is strong white wings.
Love is old Pine forest
on a hot afternoon, it's rest in the woods
to the soothing sound of the pines.
Love is the road to the sun
paved with sharp pearls
shells that you must
go barefoot.

Do you remember the sea, the black sunset?
...Do you hear the sound of the waves?
They play and sing. Do you remember?
A big waves Do you remember?.. Do you remember
what ball of light did you bring
me when I didn't know you yet?
Talk to me, talk a lot, often
as she said before we met.
And always hold in your palms
this great fire...

... Remember that all our
desires, all dreams. Happiness is with us
and if fate hinders and constrains a little,
she has such a habit...
I see your bright eyes burning
how your thought flies like a meteor,
and feeling boundless joy,
holy, I firmly believe that dullness, pitiful
prose will never penetrate our
House. You will protect our Altar,
you, my wonderful Priestess! All our
life will burn on the altar of the Eternal
and almighty art. And say -
aren't we the most happy people in the world?

I will fly to very distant worlds,
to the land of eternal beauty, sun and fairy tales,
fantasy, to an enchanted land,
the most beautiful on earth. And will
long, long look at everything,
so that you read about everything in my eyes ...

Painting "Silence"

Painting "Silence" It is ingenious in the simplicity of design and execution. Three small dandelion heads glow on a dull yellow rectangle of cardboard and that's it. Silence. A fleeting breath - and they will not be.

M.K. Čiurlionis creates the cycle "Signs of the Zodiac" He is excited by allegorical thoughts about perpetual motion, repetition and renewal.

“Aquarius” is a misty statue of a crowned sovereign, from whose hand a sheer light stream flows, turning into a river and an ocean.

"I walked alone. The night is bright. The mood is also enlightened. The sky is shrouded in a greenish fog. In some places, a star, like a fly that has lost its way, caught in a net, flutters with golden wings, and in the very center the spider-moon looks significant, blinking big eye. And everything happens in a kind of sacred silence. The journey ahead was even more beautiful. The moon set and the stars sparkled brightly, the most wonderful part of the sky: Orion, the Pleiades, Sirius ... At such moments it is good to forget where you are from and where you are going, what your name is, and look at everything through the eyes of a child. And when it ends and you come to your senses, it becomes a pity that you have been living for so long, you have experienced so much ... If only you could live like this, with constantly open eyes on everything that is beautiful. "(M.- K. Čiurlionis)

"Perhaps none of the artists conveyed with such skill the night and starry sky, as did Čiurlionis in his series of paintings "Signs of the Zodiac". (K. Paustovsky)

"Scales" - suspended from the heavenly yoke and oscillate.

Čiurlionis. Sagittarius.

Look, among the snowy mountain crowns, among the mountains,
shooting upwards and almost reaching the sky, there is a man ...
M. - K. Čiurlionius.

True

Čiurlionis wrote a parable. The old man, whose life has come to an end, bequeaths to the young man entering life: “And you go, go tirelessly ... And I will stay here. Wait, son, I forgot: look from the high towers and you will see the road. And if the goal is far and old age will overtake you, know that there will also be a bench intended for messengers. And there are always young people on it. Well, now go, - so the old man said. And I went further and looked from the high towers ... "

"Truth". Dark, empty, cold around a man with a high forehead, holding a candle. Attracted by the flames, moths flock. The fire that calls them is deceptive, implacable, cruel. Having scorched their wings, having burned them, they die, but they keep flying and flying. Can we achieve the ideal, the truth? The path to them is thorny. And yet: "And you go, go tirelessly ... Look from the high towers ..."

M.K. Čiurlionis creates a cycle of paintings, which he gives the name "seasons"

Čiurlionis. Winter.

Many paintings have a fairy-tale character and are called "Fairy Tale", etc.

In 1909 M.K. Čiurlionis married Sofya K., a musical girl with a subtle sense of beauty, who adored him and his art. He is in the prime of his creative powers, but he is lonely, many do not understand him. Caring for the family about the unborn child torments him. He works 8-10 hours a day. But the longing of self-doubt undermines his already fragile health. He gets sick mental disorder. His mood is conveyed in his eerie painting "Black Sun" He writes the triptych "My Way", where he displays his creative and life path. He returns home and ends up in a mental hospital, he was already getting better, but he fell ill with pneumonia and soon dies.

Čiurlionis wrote about 300 works in the spirit of Art Nouveau and Art Nouveau, combining the influence of symbolism with elements of folk arts and crafts, quotations and reminiscences from Japanese, Egyptian, Indian cultures and the desire for a synthesis of arts and the search for analogies of music and fine arts. The latter is especially clear in such works as "Sonata of the Sun", "Sonata of Spring" (1907), "Sonata of the Sea", "Sonata of Stars" (1908). He created symbolic-generalized works that bring fairy tales to the world (the triptych "Fairy Tale", the cycle "The Tale of Kings"; 1907), cosmogonic and astral myths (the cycles "Creation of the World", 1904 - 1906, "Signs of the Zodiac", 1907), folk representations (cycles "Spring", "Winter", 1907; "Jemai Crosses", "1909"). The works are in Kaunas art museum them. Chyurlionis.

Čiurlionis is the author of the first Lithuanian symphonic poems"In the Forest" (1900-1901) and "Sea" (1903-1907), overture "Kastutis" (1902), cantatas for choir and symphony orchestra"De profundis" (1899), string quartet, works for choir a capella on the texts of psalms. Recorded and processed over 60 Lithuanian folk songs. He composed over 200 works for pianoforte (preludes, variations, "landscapes", works for string quartet and organ).

Referring to the array of images, thoughts and feelings brought to life by Čiurlionis, Romain Rolland said: "This is a new spiritual continent, and Čiurlionis will undoubtedly remain its Christopher Columbus!"

Alexandre Benois wrote: "I somehow immediately believed him, and if people who are cautious (and you only now meet them) tell me that I am risking, then I will answer them: I am not at all interested in the question of risk, and he is essentially not interesting. It is important to be touched and to be grateful to the one who touched. The whole point of art is in this. "

Paradise

We can only barely guess the initial horror that brought Čiurenis more and more revealing clairvoyance, which subsequently led him to the creation of "Paradise", where he again, albeit in a new way, speaks of what Filippo Lippi and Fra Beato Angelico had once seen. He saw too clearly and knew too much... B. Leman. 1912]

Nicholas Roerich was a great admirer of Čiurlionis' work.

Čiurlionis ... violated the law of the crowd, a law that the crowd will never renounce and according to which every speaker must speak clearly ... For the most part, the viewer believes that the picture of Čiurlionis is still incomprehensible and therefore perceives it as musical harmonies and experiences only miserable fragments own feelings and pygmy tragedies… Čiurlionis needs to be looked at, realizing that there are no unnecessary details in his paintings, just as there are no details at all – everything is important in them. The language of the paintings is simple, clear and whole, and the work of Čiurlionis itself is a visual revelation of a beautiful harmonious world, eternal boundless life.

... The starting point of his painting is, as evidenced by the study of his paintings, the visible reality. From her, he rushes to what is outside of her, what he sees beyond her ... Picturesque treatment elements of visual contemplation according to the principle borrowed from music... that's his method... His work... is the experience of synthesis of painting, involving the depiction of things in three dimensions. In contrast, music knows only one space - time ... Čiurlionis's work is an attempt, without a doubt, unintentional, naive, and yet carried out with that unconscious regularity that constitutes the constancy of true talent. If this attempt had been a calculated action, prompted by theoretical research, it would have hardly succeeded. No art should strive to enter a foreign realm beyond its natural limits. ... Čiurlionis avoided the dangers of a bad combination and depersonalization of both arts. It ... makes us feel like we are in a different space that has swallowed up time and movement.

Poems by M.K. Čiurlionis

I, like God, am one in three persons.
I am a candle. I burn, I smoke.
Butterfly. By the will of Rock
I'm flying in that candle to burn.
And an outside observer.
I know everything for sure
But I strive with my soul - with wings
Into the evil flame of the tongue...

Poems by Eduardas Mezhelaitis about Čiurlionis.

Don't think that I'm locked in this room
I miss. Friends visit me.
I also have music (without cheating -
Silver pipes of a birch organ).
And paints - too (gold Maple leaves).
There is a canvas (amazingly clean
window opening). And books (passionate
Dante). And nature (bloodless asters
And gloomy November biting their throats).
I'm not bored here, don't think.
I can if you want, now on this window canvas
resurrect Windmill in all her beauty.
And, you know, sometimes it seems to me that out of the whole kiot
You can leave only one Don Quixote.

Man between worlds.

Despite his modesty, he had a strong influence on his surroundings. His close friend Wlodzimierz Moravsky said: “We all felt that among us there was an extraordinary person, marked not only by outstanding intellect, but also by enormous moral strength.” “When Čiurlionis was with us, we were all better. Next to him could not be bad man, no evil feelings. He poured some kind of light around him, ”recalled the wife of the English consul in Warsaw, Galina Velman.

Čiurlionis himself said about himself:

“I always want to do good, but I don’t know what good is. I want to go, but I don't know where. I'm weak because I feel like I'm wrong. Just show me in which country there is this life, and you will see how much energy there is in me.

And also from Čiurlionis:

"Crystal ball - that's all I want! What would be in front of me big crystal ball when I think about people! I wish I could put a pearl of sadness in my head, translucent blue, and listen to the groaning of the pines! How wonderful it is to be the right people and feel the light in your palms!”

VILNIUS
1965
MIKALOYUS KONSTANTINAS CIURLENIS (1875-1911) and SALOMEJA NERIS (1904-1945) are two stars of the first magnitude in the firmament of Lithuanian culture. ingenious artist, who managed to express the romantic beginnings of the attitudes of his contemporary by means of painting, drawing inspiration from nature native land, in his fairy tales, legends, songs ... and a wonderful poetess who sang both about the tragedy of her era and about the heroic efforts of the people in the struggle for freedom and a new socialist life.
Salome Neris, who lived later than M. K. Čiurlionis, subtly understood the work of the great artist and appreciated it as life-giving, full of life, optimism, humane thoughts and feelings. Great lyricism and poetic spontaneity, which are difficult to express in words, but so distinct in the paintings of the artist, the poetess managed to convey in the cycle of poems “From the Paintings of Čiurlionis” (1939-1940). In the painting “Spring”, against the background of thickening clouds, a primitive wooden bell tower is visible; edonite bell, blossoming branches stretch into the sky; the picture is permeated with the color of Lithuanian nature. The poetess feels the pulse of spring life, nature forever renewing in the human heart: “The bells sing to me for the hundredth time about life, about love. .<> popular painting from the “Fairy Tale” cycle, symbolizing the fate of a person in a troubled era, awakens the poetess to the thought of a threat looming over people (a black bird over a child), gives rise to a terrible premonition of a future war. From the cycle "Funeral" - an ominous dark red sun descends behind the ghostly trees - at S. Neris it sounds like a prelude to an approaching tragedy. "Sagittarius", who aims from a bow at a bird of prey, the poetess asks: "Shoot the black bird of trouble." "Friendship"- primitive holding a sparkling sun in his hands, a warm light pours w> his face is friendship human souls, which shines like the sun that has conquered the twilight of life, friendship, for which "the Neman flows and the green forests rustle." And again the unsteady and tragic perception human life: modest, gentle dress-
Vanchik, the fluff of which is easily carried by the north wind (“Silence”). motherly heart the poetess sympathizes with this amazing flower - like an orphan, the wind ruffles and tears her hair and carries it across the autumn fields ...
Openwork stanzas, fragile and infinitely sensitive words, with which the poetess conveys her thoughts and feelings, awakened by Čiurlionis's kargias, are a deep reflection on a person's life, his fate against the backdrop of impending fascism and war.
Into the storm Patriotic War, being far from her native Lithuania, Salome Neris returned to Čiurlionis with her thoughts. She recalls "Hope" ("Truth") - a strict male face emerging from the darkness, around which tongues of fire rush and flicker. In the days when the daily hard struggle required a huge effort of the people and thousands of thousands of lives, the poetess emphasized the immortality of a creative feat in the poem "Hope".
The paintings by Čiurlionis and the poems by Neris, written based on his paintings, speak not only of the kinship of two great souls - the artist and the poetess - but also of the great influence that real works of art have on the future generation, and today sounding life-giving bold chords, complementing and emphasizing each other.
LIT AN AS VENCLOVL

Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis(until 1955 the Russian form of the name was used Nikolai Konstantinovich Churlyanis; lit. Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis; Polish Mikołaj Konstanty Czurlanis ; 10 ( September 22, 1875 - March 28 (April 10), 1911 ) - Lithuanian artist and composer; the ancestor of professional Lithuanian music, who pushed the boundaries of national and world culture far with his creativity.

This picture is mysterious, but how much food for thought! How many things can you think looking at this canvas. Truth is a capacious concept and not always truth becomes the last resort for mortals. As a rule, the truth is hidden from us and we reach the truth only when we ourselves want it. But do we want this? Good question.

"Tale of Kings"

Poet S.N. Borodin remarkably described the picture in his poems, he calls this small world ideal, which should be especially cherished, at the end of his poems he makes it clear that such a kind, bright phenomenon in the palms of the king is love.

And indeed, what can be so beautiful and innocent, and at the same time so majestic and powerful as love, it is not subject even to the great kings themselves, it can only be found and cherished.

« Signs of the Zodiac” The end of the 20th century in painting is characterized by the formation of symbolism and neo-romanticism. During this period, the flowering of creativity of the Lithuanian artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis begins. The artist's paintings delight with their mystery and persuasiveness....
