Who are you, Dr. Zakharchenko?

(Article by Pyotr Bely, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of V.G. Zakharchenko as artistic director of the Kuban Cossack Choir)

Question, as they say backfill. I think that neither Viktor Gavrilovich himself, nor any of us is able to answer it. And really, think about it.

Scientist? Professor, Doctor of Arts, author of numerous scientific books By ethnic music, a collector of folklore, a unique connoisseur-specialist who owns the most modern methodology, who has deciphered thousands of folk songs of the Kuban and Siberia ...

Choirmaster? An artist who went through the school of the great Vladimir Minin, who reached the heights of mastery, a demanding and tough leader of the Kuban Cossack choir, which has been in a stellar separation from similar groups for the third decade, traveled the globe up and down several times...

Composer? Russian rhapsodist, whose songs people, with tears in their eyes, listen to while standing. And all this is equal, equal. So the answer is no. From fiction to fact before us is a man living three lives. From myself I will add: these are only those three lives that are in sight.

I know about the fourth and fifth... I know about Zakharchenko's intense spiritual, ethical quest, about his study of philosophy and theology, about his deepest knowledge in the field of Russian classical literature about his fiery love for symphonic music, about his admiration for the art of Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev ... And at the beginning, there, in his native Dyadkovskaya, there was an accordion watered with tears of childish delight. And there was a dream. None of it is "American", with a green tint, but one hundred percent ours, Russian. Look guys, think.

Phoenix

All my creative life, starting from the glorious, almost forgotten by us, Siberian decade, Viktor Zakharchenko composes songs. There were also noticeable successes, for example, "Bread is the head of everything", there were also semi-successes ... Let's not forget, there were Soviet years with vigilant party supervision. But in spite of everything, the song source did not dry out.

In the mid-nineties, a terrible misfortune happened. Zakharchenko had an accident. Life hung by a thread. Months and months of sheer martyrdom flowed by. The recovery was difficult, the suffering was beyond. Another in the place of Zakharchenko would have died a long time ago, as they say. But Zakharchenko, like a Phoenix, rises from the ashes. He rises transformed, spiritually enlightened, turned to God with all his heart. Life and Truth shone before him with primordial light. A miracle happened. As if some mystical barrier fell and a powerful waterfall gushed, a song flood, a stream sweeping away everything in its path. As if Someone leads the composer's hand song is born after song. Not a single failure! Masterpiece after masterpiece. Explosive melodies, amazing musical ideas, bubbling inspiration! And this happens when the composer's song creativity in the fatherland finally lost ground under the onslaught of pop culture! No that's not old story about Don Quixote. Another case, quite new.

A spiritual event is taking place before our very eyes. national importance. It even seems that the whole previous life of Viktor Zakharchenko was only a prelude to this act of all-destroying creativity. But that would be unfair too good, beautiful prelude.

Song symphony

Viktor Zakharchenko does not just write songs. He creates a song symphony of stunning philosophical depth. Rejecting random song texts, Zakharchenko clings to the spring of the Russian poetic tradition. Blok, Tyutchev, Pushkin, Yesenin, Tsvetaeva, Lermontov, Delvig, Nekrasov, Rubtsov, Aleksey Tolstoy, Severyanin are capable of imparting other, multidimensional parameters to a song. It would seem, use, create, reap laurels. However, our composer the wise Nestor of folklore is not at all going to exploit classical poetry. Zakharchenko makes a subtle move. He searches for a musical key to Russian poets not on the path of a purely composer's interpretation of texts, but applies to them folklore method development, remembering that the poems of Polonsky and Nekrasov, Pushkin and Lermontov have already been partly sung by the people.

Creatively using this experience of folklore, the composer gives the poets an impersonal musical interpretation, introduces them to a certain universe. popular consciousness, dissolving their individual in the universal. On the one hand, the composer "dies" in the poet, and on the other hand, the poet dissipates, fertilizing the folk. A concept that is symphonic in its complexity arises.

The roots of Viktor Zakharchenko's Song Symphony feed on the depths of his personality, intellect, spiritual experience, the richness of which gives him the right to address the nation directly. In his Symphony, Zakharchenko, without prophesying or climbing into cothurni, acts as a powerful integrator of the national spirit. He speaks to people as if in their own language, directly, without cunning, using clear, aphoristically short forms of expression and wins an impressive artistic victory. Only, perhaps, once, in songs to the verses of his recent contemporary Nikolai Rubtsov, does Zakharchenko break through his own, burning personal. This note of heartfelt, purely Zakharchenko's, pain for the present day of the Russian people cannot be forgotten. It is like a voice from the author, suddenly heard in the middle of a symphony in a sudden silence.

Another pain of Viktor Zakharchenko, a hereditary Black Sea Cossack, for whom Russian and Ukrainian things are inseparable, is the separation of Ukraine from Russia. The crack went right through his heart. Perhaps that is why he suffered the most - songs based on poems by Taras Shevchenko and Lesya Ukrainka, - songs that draw tears from Russians and raise thousands of audiences in Ukraine to their feet. Who else but simple people Russia and Ukraine, unlike their politicians, mourn the madness and absurdity of our break? Congratulations to all living in Russia today. The work of the composer Viktor Zakharchenko is an unexpected miracle revealed by the Russian spirit at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Dyadkovskaya is lucky that she has Zakharchenko!

Our newspaper has repeatedly written about the agro-industrial plant "Kuban-Lux" over the past five years. Its leader Nikolai Vladimirovich Lyuty for the high performance of the team, active civil position in the course of the reader's referendum held by "Free Kuban", he was recognized as the "Person of the Year-2004" in the nomination "Agroindustrial Complex Leaders". And today the economy is powerfully gaining momentum. The grain yield, for example, is currently at the level of 60 centners. In the development of animal husbandry only for Lately 7 million rubles were allocated, and further it was decided to increase the investment of funds, considering, first of all, the dairy industry as the most promising. Nevertheless, at the next meeting with N.V. Fiercely, we agreed not to raise production issues in the conversation, but to talk about people's attitude to business, their family concerns, attitude towards their small homeland, its history ...

It didn't take long to look for a reason and a topic of conversation. Nine months later, in March 2008. Hero of Labor of the Kuban, People's Artist of Russia Professor Viktor Gavrilovich Zakharchenko will celebrate his 70th birthday. There is, perhaps, no such person in Dyadkovskaya who would not be proud that the leader of the world-famous Kuban Cossack choir was born and raised in this village, glorified her with her outstanding talent, great love and reverence for her small homeland, which gave a ticket to great life, which brought all-Russian glory. We had a long and leisurely conversation, and I managed to write it down.

That's what came out of it.

Businessmen I know often pester me with reproaches. Why, they say, in an economy that has a little more than seven thousand hectares of arable land, Obtain such a lot of workers? I myself understand that we could well cope with all the cases, having 150, not 600 people .... But what to do with those who would be outside the gates of the agricultural enterprise?
In Korenovsk or Krasnodar, you don’t run into work every day. Start a private farm? Yes, many homeowners do this. But with current prices for pork and the high cost of grain fodder, you can get into a debt hole. There is only one thing left - to steal on the farm ... But for this they can be imprisoned.

I agree: in any case, sooner or later it will be necessary to reduce staff. After all, the only way I can raise people's salaries in two or three times. But I'm still not in a hurry to make an unpopular decision in one fell swoop. He intends to carry out a reorganization, as they say, in an evolutionary way.

Already a third of the auxiliary industries of the agro-industrial complex have switched to self-support, self-sufficiency. Now they are free to decide how many people to leave. They are slowly getting rid of the ballast without my administrative intervention. And it's good for the cause, and it's good for me. There will be fewer ill-wishers in the village. I think that in a year and a half it will be possible to halve the size of the economy in this way.

"Kuban-Lux" is a city-forming enterprise. And, of course, as a native resident of Dyadkovskaya, who was born here, I am worried about the appearance of the village. Together with the heads of the municipality and rural settlement Vladimir Nikolaevich Rudnik and Alexander Mikhailovich Senchenko, specialists and deputies are trying to instill in people love for their small homeland. Many have an ideal order in the courtyard. We must now, we say to the villagers, put things in order in the village as a whole, improve it with common forces.

In these matters, Vasily Andreevich Ostapenko, the former chairman of the Mayak Kommunizma collective farm, on whose lands our farm is now based, serves as an example for me. It was he who began to asphalt the streets in Dyadkovskaya, built a magnificent House of Culture, solid brick houses for people, thought about the spiritual communication of the villagers by attracting them to folk art circles, sport sections. I'm afraid to make a mistake, but Ostapenko played an important role in the fate of V.G. Zakharchenko, who under him was the soul and engine of the propaganda team, which so often met with field farmers and livestock breeders.

Viktor Gavrilovich for uncles is more than a countryman. Our pride, a guiding star, if you will. I won't speak for everyone. I will tell you about my attitude to him, to his work.

The songs of the Kuban Cossack Choir are a sip of cool spring water in the heat. You listen to them - and you forget about everything. They are written in the words of Russian poets, and they, as a rule, have the deepest meaning. Especially in recent works.
Music is pouring, a wonderful song, it seems that it twists your soul, even your skin is covered with pimples. You sit as if hypnotized, absorbing the enchanting sounds. It is for this, for the depth of folk art, that the people of Viktor Gavrilovich are appreciated both in Russia, and in Ukraine, and throughout the great Soviet Union.

I think we should talk about such unique personalities in full voice in life. Few people know how simple Zakharchenko is in everyday life. Not a simpleton, not at all. He has one manner of communicating with leaders of high rank, and with ordinary machine operators, and with stanitsa grandmothers. He always speaks sincerely with a person, regardless of what education he has, what post he occupies.

In addition, he is very modest, which sometimes surprises you. “I don’t need anything, help my native village,” he usually answers when he is asked the question: “What do you need?”.

But the regional authorities nevertheless judged wisely. With the light hand of Vice-Governor Galina Dmitrievna Zolina and with the support of Alexander Nikolayevich Tkachev, it was decided to hold a festival of folk art in Dyadkovskaya in honor of the 70th anniversary of the head of the Kuban Cossack choir. We, in turn, together with the municipal and rural authorities, will open the Zakharchenko Museum by this significant date.

First of all, the stanitsa House of Culture, which is thoroughly dilapidated, will be put in order. Its reconstruction will require more than one million rubles, and of course, neither the district budget nor the economy could withstand such financial pressure. The money was found in the regional budget.

DC is not just a center of culture. Here, as in the family, the ideological, spiritual core of our children is formed, they join the beautiful. And I am glad that the head of the department, Natalya Georgievna Pugacheva, supported the idea of opening an art school here, ballroom dancing. It is important for us to preserve the house where V.G. Zakharchenko. True, it can be called a home with a big stretch. My parents weren't very rich. "Hatkoy nyzenkoy pid reeds" was once. we buy it from the current owner, transferred to the municipal property. Together with V.N. The mine ordered a project so that the house-museum of our eminent fellow countryman would last a long time. It will become a kind of school of education, a reminder of the Cossack way of life, Kuban creativity, a memory of the history of the village.

Dyadkovskaya is lucky that she has Zakharchenko. But it seems to me that in most other villages there may be similar museums, centers - call it what you want, where materials about eminent countrymen of this particular settlement will be collected. About cosmonauts, generals, scientists, doctors, Heroes of the Union, Russia and Kuban, major leaders, noble grain growers and so on - both already absent and now living. Let's open museums in their honor, teach children on a worthy example, on the history of our native land, Cossack traditions...

For me, the topic of the past is the most painful. I will say one thing: no one is allowed to rewrite it. Yes, there were in the history of the Russian state and tsars, and Lenin, and Stalin, and the famine. But we must respect all periods of the life of our distant and close ancestors, if we want our children to respect us. Respect, lessons, albeit bitter, to learn, not to trivialize.

I consider the attempts of some State Duma deputies to remove the hammer and sickle from the Banner of Victory as vandalism at the state level. Couldn't they strain their brains and realize that the sickle represents the entire peasantry, and the hammer represents the workers, who, together with our valiant army, liberated the country from evil spirits? When such an orgy ends, then our faith in the future will grow stronger, because it is inextricably linked with the past.

And so what happens? My father and mother worked all their lives for "sticks" in the collective farm, and I have to tell them that collective farms are a dark past? Throw out the life of your parents? And who will call me smart?! And how can I be sure that in twenty or thirty years my sons or grandchildren will not accuse me of “backwardness”, deciding that the agro-industrial complex is a black spot in the history of the Kuban?

Fortunately, the Kuban people are wise, they do not spit in the well. And also - original and a little bit conservative. In connection with this, I recall a funny incident heard from my father.
Once upon a time, the party authorities wanted to build a railway through the Dyadkovskaya railway. The old people got together and decided: "Ne budet tsyogo." There is no need, they say, to frighten our cows and crush chickens. They listened. The railway was moved towards Medvedovskaya.
Yes, our Kuban people, who created themselves, are original. We were and remain warriors and farmers.

I am sometimes asked: do I know how to live beautifully? I don't know what the questioner is investing in this concept... If you have a vacation in Courchevel, a three-story mansion with a swimming pool and a bunch of mistresses, then I don't know how. In my understanding, the beauty of life lies in the high spirituality of a person, in love and compassion for one's neighbor.

Viktor Gavrilovich Zakharchenko has a very good song. Its meaning is something like this. The son took time off from his mother, went, looked at what was happening in Russia ... He returned home and said: “Mother, dear, our country is dying, falling apart, the filthy enemies have overcome it.” “No son, it’s not the enemies that you saw. The enemies are those who sold our Orthodox faith,” the mother replied.

And in order not to appear in our ranks, among our future generation of such renegades, we must seriously engage in the upbringing of our children, teach them by our example of life and such people as our illustrious countryman Viktor Gavrilovich Zakharchenko.

Revelations of Nicholas the Fierce recorded

Galina Azarova. Special correspondent of "Free Kuban". Art. Dyadkovskaya, Korenovsky district.

Victor Zakharchenko has been celebrating his birthday on stage for several decades in a row. Well, Viktor Gavrilovich was not used to blowing out candles in a close family circle. And today, on his anniversary - Viktor Zakharchenko turned 80 on March 22, the legend of the Kuban Cossack choir will come out to the public. Concerts of the famous choir begin in Krasnodar.

On the anniversary of Viktor Zakharchenko, Komsomolskaya Pravda collected five little known facts from the biography of the artistic director of the Kuban Cossack Choir.

Zakharchenko defended his team

The history of the legendary choir begins in 1811. It is the oldest and only one in our country folk group, whose history has not been interrupted since early XIX century. Viktor Zakharchenko has been directing the Kuban Cossack Choir for 44 years. When he took the helm, he was 36 years old.

To get to the first All-Russian competition of Russian folk choirs, which was held in Moscow in 1975, Viktor Gavrilovich deceived the party leadership. Unheard of insolence in those days! Before the concert itself in Moscow, all the teams at that time showed their performances to a special commission. And since at that time it was impossible to perform without propaganda of the Soviet ideology, the artistic director of the choir included works about Lenin in the program. Party officials approved the repertoire. And already in Moscow, on the stage, Zakharchenko showed completely different songs - Cossack ones. And although the jury was shocked, the first place was given to the Kuban artists. And that performance was called "revolutionary."

On the basis of the Kuban Cossack Choir, they wanted to open a music hall

At the time when Viktor Zakharchenko came to the Kuban Cossack Choir, the fate of the folk group hung in the balance. The Krasnodar Philharmonic was going to reform the team. Each concert of the choir cost the budget a round sum, so they decided to cut staff and rename the choir - to make an ensemble out of it. But Viktor Gavrilovich did not give. He went to the villages and farms of the Kuban, recorded more than a thousand folk songs, which the artists began to perform under the guidance of a new artistic director. Zakharchenko, who himself was born and lived in the Kuban village, heard Cossack songs from childhood, he knew how the village lives, what kind of music the villagers need.

Our artists have turned into mannequins: the women are all in the same dresses, with the same pink faces, fake smiles. Some sort of sedate pavushki are floating around the stage - swans in sparkles, a sort of leaf chastity is floating around the stage. But is she really like that in real life, a Russian woman! Do not recognize her - before that sugared! And the men ... faceless, expressionless, all as one in satin shirts, belted with sashes, - Viktor Zakharchenko said then and "broke", reworked the choir. Today the Kuban team is a pearl folk art Russia.

Every rehearsal begins with a prayer

The artistic director calls his artists children, and the building in which the folk group is located - "the house of the Cossack choir." And for 44 years in a row, the artists begin each rehearsal with a prayer.

Yes, but where else to start? - Viktor Zakharchenko smiles, adding, - we are all one big family, believers love. And how to sing spiritual songs without faith?

The artists read "Our Father" and ask God to protect them from troubles and help them in their accomplishments.

Started walking with a cane after an accident

Viktor Zakharchenko has been walking with a cane for 22 years. Problems with the knee happened after the accident, which was the artistic director of the Kuban Cossack choir.

Until he lost consciousness, he asked the Almighty for mercy, ”Viktor Gavrilovich told Komsomolskaya Pravda. - And already in the hospital, when I began to come to my senses, I heard a chant. I thought that in the church and with a dull look I began to look for icons on the walls. I met only the tearful look of my daughter and asked where the holy images were and what happened? She couldn't explain what it was. Then I realized that together with the priest they were reading a prayer for health. Later, I discovered that I did not feel one leg and it was folded and pressed close to the other. Then I had to endure the most unpleasant procedure of letting oxygen into my knee. Everyone prayed to God for help. Now I know for sure that such tests were sent to me for a reason. As you can see, now I am on my feet and even go in for sports. I have the strength to lead the choir.

Despite serious injury, Viktor Zakharchenko works out with a coach and can run 4 kilometers. And even ran with a torch during the Olympic torch relay in Krasnodar in 2014.

"The choir will live both with me and without me, because God is with us"

Five years ago, on his 75th birthday, Viktor Zakharchenko admitted in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda:

I read that a person has an average of eighty years to live. And I understand that there is little time left, but I can say with confidence that the choir will live with me and without me, because God is with us!

Viktor Gavrilovich, may the choir live long with you!
